Mora 2000 Stainless Steel Fixed-Blade Knife With Sheath, Olive Green, 4.3 Inch

I have had this for approx. 4 years now. While i don't use it heavily I do use on on semi regular basis , including annual trips for camping / backpacking. Its a tough knife, well designed , strong and light.I am not a " knife person" however this so far is my best fixed blade knife. Also happens to be inexpensive.The grip is very comfortable and remains slip free at least for my use case.A great 1st knife for someone young + ofc obvious , everyone else.Keeping it sharp is pretty easy, the thick part of the blade nearest handle is sharp but made for any tough / heavy use . The approximate 1st 1/2 of the blade from the tip tapers down and is very sharp and easy for detailed work requiring a sharp edge. Makes it harder to sharpen ofc.Some of made a point to mention the sheath not being of the highest quality.I find that somewhat true, It is made functional and light, keeping the knife fairly secure while on a belt. They are plenty of knife sheaths available at optional cost, to suit your needs for this size knife. Many prob. have something in mind for how they wish to carry a knife of this sort anyway. I prefer Mora to continue with inexpensive sheaths keeping the price low. At least this choice leaves something extra in wallet for a quality carry option.Over all its a excellent knife and for the price I cant take off points for a sheath that while isn't pretty is functional just like the knife.I image after seeing the blade blanks being sold for this model you could " make" your own optional mount point for some 550 cord with a drill and some prob. quite a bit of time for various reasons , if important to you.I have told quite a few people about Morakniv over past few years.I defiantly haven't torture tested it,I did use it once with a cardboard wrapped hammer to split semi dried , approx. 2" diameter wood for a bbq smoker ... cardboard didn't really last long, no obvious damage to top of blade , still quite smooth to touch. Looks to be in very good shape in normal ambient lighting.Took some pictures of knife today, bright lighting.

I bought this a couple months ago for this year's camping season. What I needed was a "blue collar" knife - a knife that would do all the chores I needed a knife for, would hold a good edge, sold for a reasonable price and I could just throw into a tool box until needed again.How did the Morakniv 2000 stainless blade work out? Passed every test I gave it. This knife comes with a very sharp edge and I find it reasonably easy to resharpen with an equally good edge. The knife blade is stout and will handle a lot of use and abuse. No, I can't get as good an edge as with a high-carbon steel blade and, no, it won't last as long. But, this knife will resist rust unlike carbon steels and be ready whenever called upon.At first, I didn't like the plastic and neoprene (or similar material) handle. But, it grew on me because it's basically well made and gives a good grippable surface. It definitely won't slip and your hand won't slide forward. Like the handle, I originally hated the cheap-looking sheath. But, it holds the knife securely - even when upside down.In short, this is a good, basic knife that will do a lot of jobs well for a very reasonable cost. I can't find anything bad to say about my experience with this knife and award it a well-deserved five stars.

I really like this knife. I really like Mora. I use this knife mostly for food prep and small cutting tasks. It is perfect for me. It is easy to maneuver and it is sharp.I now own three Mora knives, the Companion Black, the Bushcraft Black and now the Outdoor 2000. I like this over the Companion Black, also in stainless steel. I find the Companion Black a little thicker and it doesn't slice through food as well as this Mora Outdoor 2000.Though the Companion Black is really nice for heavier tasks.The Outdoor 2000 sheath is nice as is all of the Mora sheaths I own. The only thing that I am not as happy is it has a rubberized belt loop that I am not sure will hold up for the long haul. I have found the best loop for the Mora plastic sheath is on the Mora Bushcraft Black which gives you a choice of an open loop or closed plastic loop. I prefer the closed loop.I really like Mora knives. For the money they can't be beat. I am very happy with the three Mora's I own. I don't really see the need to own more expensive knives for what I use them for. I think they are the perfect knife. They are very useful for a lot of tasks and inexpensive.

This is a very nice knife. But my XL hands don't fit well on it. The handle shape is uncomfortable for me. I like the companion's way better. Blade design is good. Not a heavy duty knife. The tip is very thin for more precise stuff. Sheath is good and has better retention than my companion HD did. This is a very nice knife for 25 bucks. It does every thing a knife should do and it's about impervious to the elements and is very light. The whole package lends itself to green camouflage nicely. Given the handle size and ease of maintenance and sharpening with the scandi grind I think this would be a nice knife for kids and women since they tend to have smaller hands. Everything about this knife just says "medium" to me. It's a unique knife. Very sharp.

I own a few Moras and they all rock. However The Sheath is not the best if you intend on wearing on a belt. Modifications can be made to the sheath or you can toss it in a backpack/keep it in your pocket. Only real drawback is its a little small to clear brush/chop wood in large amounts. The Pros to this knife are.The knife itself is fantastic, razor sharp out of the box and ez to sharpen. For its size and weight it is strong and robust. Over all its great for wood carving, skining fish/game, light weight great camping/hiking, good for clearing very light brush vines branches over 3inches get a little hard on the wrist but handles the small stuff like a Champ, good quality stainless steel/ill eat with it i dont like to eat with carbon steel blades cause i oil them. My two cents this knife and a good tomahawk/machete and your set. GO MORA!!!!!!

This knife doesn't need another stellar review, its got enough of those.Mine has been an excellent companion and has not had a problem with anytask I have set before it.I absolutely love the handle. Very comfortable, and unlike most other knife handles, it is comfortble regardless of how you hold it. Manufacturers always want to get too clever with their handles and end up putting in finger choils and groves and curving it this way and that all so they can boast how "ergonomic" their handles are. Its fine I guess if you only ever hold the knife one way. Someone who uses their knife for more than one specific task and uses various cutting techniques is going to need something that be be held comfortably in a variety of positions. This mora is great for that!The grind is strange, not quite sure how to classify it. It starts off scandi and then tapers. I was worried it may be more of a challenge to sharpen in the field, but it has not been any kind of hindrance. Honestly, I haven't really seen a noticeable benefit from it either. I'd love to hear anything that anyone has to say about this.People always complain about Mora sheaths. I could care less really, I rarely use them. I typically make my own. I am actually OK with this sheath. Mine has decent retention and the shape of it allows me to wrap/attach a lot of gear to it with ranger bands. They use a single, flimsy piece of leather for a belt loop. Wish they hadn't done that, it ain't gonna last. They would have done well just to keep it simple with a plastic clip molded right on to it as a single piece.Anyway, great knife, great handle, good price, OK sheath. I drop one star simply because this knife is really begging for options. I would easily give this knife a 5 star rating if I could get it in carbon rather than just stainless. Would also haveloved to see an option with a straight scandi grind. Thats my thoughts on it.

after looking at all of the wonderful moras i decided on this one, as i went so far as to find xray images of the tang, this appeared to have the thickest tang and was highly regarded in various circles and people i had talked with and i haven't been disappointed, i haven't had this knife long but can tell it will give me years of good service from looking at the craftsmanship, it is an excellent blade indeed, with that said , the sheath is awful, and if you want a good one for it expect to pay 1/2 the price if not 100% of the price of the knife for a good sheath , but who really cares? you can have a good little setup for $40 or so the price of a name brands bottom shelf knife.... i went with this one as well due to the stainless steel blade as i live in the pnw where i'm constantly wet and have better things to do than oil my blade every other time i draw it, don't get me wrong, i love my high carbon knives , but don't think that mora made this knife to simply fill a niche, it is a good quality product for the money and stainless steel can be nice to have on occasion, it's nice to be able to treat it as a tool as opposed a knife you really want to care for...also tons of links on the internet about making your own handle for these.

Despite the poorly written product description, I like this Mora alot. The very first thing I did after receiving it was to try some light batoning and although it performed OK, it is not a serious knife for that purpose as it has a very pronounced distal taper beginning at mid point of the blade which becomes quite thin as it nears the tip. As for chopping, this just doesn't have the weight or length for that task by any means. Why did I give it 5 stars? Quite frankly, it feels great in my medium sized hands, the feel and grip is one of the best I have felt in my 60 plus years of using and collecting edged tools. The edge is sharp and easy to maintain, the blade is suitable for most camping/field chores and it's light weight and nicely made sheath makes it a pleasure to carry. Feather sticks and food prep are a breeze to accomplish and this knife has enough Belly in the blade for dressing out both large and small game. Striking a ferro rod is not possible with the finished spine of this knife so it will either need a slight mod or you could simply use a piece of hacksaw blade or (my favorite) carry a piece of Flint to use as a striker. I believe that this Mora coupled with a good camping hatchet or (another favorite) a Tramontina 12" Machete would be a winning combination for your fieldcraft/survival needs. Sometimes a knife simply feels like an extension of your hand and in my case, this knife does just that.

Got this for about 20 bucks. I whittle wood and find the kansbol type blade good for that. And Moras are really the king of inexpensive and good quality knives.I don't even question/regret my choice in this. Absolute best!

Super Messer zum unschlagbaren Preis! Trotz intensiver Nutzung hab ich es noch nicht nachschleifen müssen und es is noch immer sehr scharf. Eignet sich super zum Arbeiten und auch zum Schnitzen! Die Scheide hab ich selbst gemacht!Würd ich sofort wieder kaufen wenns Mal kaputt gehn sollte was ich aber nicht glaube 💪Absolute Kauf Empfehlungen 👍

First Mora I have owned. Heard lots of good, heard some bad but I gotta say, Great knife. Lightweight, sturdy build, great quality for what I paid for it. Shaving sharp out of the box. Held its edge. Resharpened easily, partly because of the Scandinavian style edge geometry. It's easy to keep the proper angle while using a honing stone. Please use a honing stone or something equivalent. If you use a V-grind sharpener you will ruin the edge. It's got really secure grip even without a finger guard or choil. Also the neutral grip allows you to apply several different grips. Furthermore it's stainless, so little maintenance is required. Sheath is meh but it does it's job. If you are into knives at this price there is no reason not to own one. Great for a bug out bag, hiking pack or all purpose blade. Just get one and see for yourself.
