I Love You, Beth Cooper

Lead Actor Was Miscast BIG Time...
Over the years I have enjoyed most of these coming of age, teen-angst ridden comedies, whether the classic "Risky Business" with Tom Cruise and Rebecca DeMornay, or the great "Girl Next Door" with Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert, or "Can't Buy Me Love" with Patrick Dempsey and the tragic, but talented Amanda Peterson, and even "She's All That" with Freddie Prinze Jr., Rachael Leigh Cook, and the late, great Paul Walker. The concept for "I Love You, Beth Cooper," is interesting, and Hayden Panettiere with the rest of the supporting cast, (Jack Carpenter, Lauren London, Lauren Storm, Shawn Roberts, Alan Ruck, Cynthia Stevenson, Jared Keeso, and Marie Avgeropoulos) were quite good in their roles.I would have given this film at least a 3, or even a 4, but the lead actor Paul Rust just couldn't pull it off. I watched the first hour or so, but finally had to close it down and watch something else. The highlight of this film is right at the beginning, where valedictorian Dennis Cooverman (played by Rust) proclaims his undying "love" for Beth Cooper, a girl he has never interacted with before his speech. OK, give him some credit for having the balls to do this in front of the graduating class.Guess what? It's all downhill from there.Dennis Cooverman (Rust) is supposed to be a nerd, which is fine, but Rust portrays him as a total whining loser, in every way imaginable, so that it makes the growing romantic relationship between him and Panettiere just ridiculous. There is ZERO chemistry between these two, and even as good an actress as Panettiere is, she cannot carry both of them.I understand the male leads in this particular category are not supposed to be Brad Pitt clones, but C'MON!! Dennis Cooverman has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He spends the entire movie trying to prove he is the biggest goofball in teen comedy cinematic history. He shows no real passion, no courage, no creativity or resourcefulness, no humor, no charisma, not even intelligence for someone supposed to be going to Stanford in the fall?? He IS really good at getting beaten up, running for his life from every threat, and whining about his problems to whoever will hear him out.The female lead and the other supporting characters spend the entire film, (at the least the part I watched) propping him up, and saving his butt from all kinds of predicaments, and all this guy can do is bleed, whine and complain, bleed some more, and stick disgusting things up his nose to stop the bleeding. I guess that was supposed to be funny?I really didn't even care to find out what happened at the end of this movie, I imagine the dude ends up with Beth Cooper at the end, and they will ride off into the sunset together. They really jumped the shark with that one.Bottom line, I'm sure Rust is a decent actor in other films, but he doesn't have the chops to carry the leading man role in THIS film, even as a teenage nerd coming of age. If you choose to watch this movie, I'm pretty sure his acting will get on your nerves.I give 2 stars because Hayden Panettiere is AMAZING in this movie, and she shines in any role she is in, and as I mentioned earlier, the supporting cast was pretty strong.

I Love Beth Cooper !!
This movie was being shown on HBO, and although when I first watched it believed it wouldn't be that good was surprised. It had all the angst, and raging hormone's along with the awkwardness of many high school teens. It proved much funnier than I would've believed, and soon decided it was one I wanted myself. It had many of the same song's from my own high school day's i.e. Alice Cooper: "School's Out", and Kiss: "Beth", so the sound track was good. The price was awesome, and the time of delivery short !! Another "Great" purchase with the same value. I Love Beth Cooper, and Amazon : )

This is a 30-sec (or so) interview
This is free so whatever, but just so you know, it's a 30-sec to a minute or so interview with the guy about the movie. That's all it is.

Beth Cooper
This is the story of a high-school nerd who has had a crush on the most popular girl in school, Beth Cooper. He decides to declare his love while giving a speech in front of the whole school, while doing this he also takes the opportunity to strike back at the bully who tormented him, as well as a few other classmates he has a score to settle with. Beth and her two hot girlfriends come over to his house and they all are pursued by Beth's psycho boyfriend who wants to kill him. As they encounter various adventures through the night he sees that Beth is not the ideal girl he thought she was, but he comes to like her for who she really is, a slightly insane girl who has a wild side and a good heart. Over all I liked this movie, while it is predictable at times it reminds me of a time in my life that I will always fondly remember, I think we all have a Beth Cooper in our lifes. Razorback fan
