Waves: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)

The Best Science Writing I've Encountered
I've read quite a few Very Short Introductions about various sciences and "Waves" is by far the best. The writing is clearer and simpler to understand than any science writing I've encountered. My understanding of Einstein's theory of relativity is much deeper thanks to this book. (I've read many writers on the subject of relativity and this book is, by far, the best.)

Excellent overview. a prime example of science popularization.
This is an excellent book. I teach a course on Oscillations, Waves and Optics at a major university with higher-level textbooks. This delicious little book complements it perfectly. I highly recommend it to general readers who wish to get a feeling of what waves are like, with minimal mathematics and great mastery of the subject by the author. The book is an example of explanation that many writers should study and follow.

One of the best of the series
I have read so far around 20 of the same collection, mainly related to physics and earth science and just wish I have read this one first, totally enjoyable and brings a lot of clarity on the concept of waves that lot of the other books rely on, such as geophysics, tides, light and nuclear particles.
