Fiber optic fun with the flick of a switch. Enjoy a dynamic display of pulsating multi-color light. Activates by way of a push switch under the base. Each time the on/off switch is pressed a new color sequence takes place (Green, Red, Blue, Red+Green, Blue+Red, Blue+Green, Blue+Red+Green, and Auto Dynamic Color Fading Color Mode) . 3 AA Batteries included. Stands 14 inches high.

Did I really spend money on this?
Unfortunately I did indeed spend money on this. Not sure that I expected a really good light for this price but I certainly expected a little more than what I got. I remember these fiber optic lights from the 70s. I had seen one in a mall recently and now I wish that I had just bought that one for 30 bucks. The fiber optic filaments are thick so they don't lay very well. In fact, they basically stand straight up or lean a little to the side. The LED lights don't transition from one color to the next very smoothly. They actually just seem to flash so they just look awkward. Then there is the cheap plastic base. Save your money, this light isn't worth a dollar let alone 14. As for the others that wrote a review. I am glad that it met their expectation. Maybe I just have higher standards. That or they work for the company that sold it.

Pretty cool. Not expensive for a little visual stimulation . . . How to use: instructions below.
These are really cool, but it doesn't work as well as it could. Of course, what would one expect? For the price it's something fun to help create a festive ambiance for New Years.I didn't get any instructions on how to turn this on, so: There is a switch on the bottom of the stand. Just push, and VOILA! From what I can tell it not only turns the LED on but allows the lights to cycle through the different modes. Mine does not spin. I thought they were supposed to. Maybe not?

CHEAP but decent for some uses
For me, I was buying these (bought 5 total) for an art project, so it was alright for me that it was much, much less than what it appears to be on this site. Like other commentators have posted, the fiber optics are stiff (some were bent, and some immediately fell out), and do not flare out into a circle. The base is cheap and plastic, but mine at least cycled through different colors. Also comes with 3 AA batteries, of dubious quality. Overall, its what I needed, but beware if you're looking for a fancy or lasting toy.

Pictures Not Representative
The base of the actual product is a cheap-looking, matte grey plastic--not what the pictures show. The fiber-optic strands are not as long as they are in the picture (there are actually three lengths: short, medium, and "long"), and even the longest strands do not bow downwards by more than 30-40 degrees, making this thing look more like a lighted brush instead of a semi-spherical ball. Still, not bad for the price.

Shipped in the paper bag.
I don't understand why they shipped this fiber light in the paper bag? When I opened it, I found that many fibers were bent very badthat it was impossible to straiten them up. So I had to cut them out. Also some of the silver paint was peeled off from the base.
