Panasonic 27” Microwave Trim Kit for Panasonic 1.6 cu ft Microwave Ovens – NN-TK722SS (Stainless Steel)

Arrived in perfect condition at a great price. installation of this pieces was pretty straightforward but results may vary depending on your set up. It looks clean and modern as a trim for a Panasonic microwave. It is expensive, but you only need one every 10-15 years, so buy it and cry once.

Fit just right. Looks nice!

This trim panel would not fit my cabinet! The opening size for your cabinet must be a standard one (i.e. only have 3/4" sides for a 27" wide cabinet. The height also needs to be in a very tight range. My cabinets have a front face and have an inside trim piece. To install this panel, I will need to cut heavily into my brand new cabinets. The only way I found out about this is to use a magnifying glass to some pictures provided in the directions. This was after I had already bent up the venting piece which means I can't return this thing now. I did consider cutting my cabinet to make it fit but I test fit the trim piece onto my microwave and there is a very large gap all around the microwave and the trim panel. So much so, that it doesn't even look like it was made for it. I checked my model number against those listed on the Panasonic site and it is made for it. For the cost of this trim (more than the microwave itself), you would think it had more flexibility in installation and would fir like it was actually made for my microwave!

As long as the cabinet size is as per the specifications (first download the user manual for this item), it should fit. One warning: Panasonic support does not exist. While installing, one of the plastic catches broke. I called Panasonic and their automated system connected me to their parts supplier who wanted $40 to ship me the catches. That means $10 for each piece of plastic catch that will break easily! Amazon stepped in and offered to return the item and get it reshipped. So make sure that you measure the distance between the catches before you fit in this trim. I had to lower the top backets by 0.25 inches. I used some washers and longer screws for the top brackets. Once this is done, it looks beautiful. I am knocking one star for Panasonic's non-existent support. You are paying for aesthetics. Otherwise this costs more than the microwave itself!

My old microwave died, so I bought a new Panasonic 1.6 cf one to replace the old one. The problem was the old one fit inside a custom cabinet, that was designed for it; apparently this was a valid size 30+ years ago, but is no longer the standard size. I bought the new one to fit in the cabinet, not realizing the old trim surround would no longer work. I then measured (and measured again) to make sure that the new Panasonic surround would fit...which it did (thank you, Amazon, for including the measurements for the product). The new Panasonic surround seems a bit pricey, but when it looks, and fits, as good as it does, the price issue goes away. The Panasonic surround is designed for the Panasonic microwave, and definitely enhances the look of the installation. I'm glad that this surround was available for me.

The kit does what it it's intended except that I think the 'fit' of the microwave to the kit reflects poor design. There is a significant gap on the sides between the microwave the kit. The gap is about an inch. It would have looked much better if the space was more like 1/4- 3/8". Also, the base should be set so the microwave sits about 3/8"closer to the front as the face of the microwave is not flush with trim kit. I'm both amazed and disappointed and Panasonic's poor attention to detail. If you're wondering why I kept it... my kitchen has two built-in microwaves, one smaller than the other. Panasonic was the only manufacturer that I could find the same microwave in two different sizes that fit.

Works for me

This was the only trim kit I could find that fit my cabinet without having to modify the cabinet frame. The trim itself is made from a high quality stainless steel of appropriate gauge. Installation was very simple. The opening on my cabinet was 24" wide by 15.75" high, so I would have had to modify the opening in order to use the clips that came with the kit. Instead i attached the trim to the cabinet frame using one stainless steel screw in each corner. The picture shows the trim kit with the Panasonic NN-SD745S oven.

Fit perfect for our Panasonic Microwave. It was well packed and an easy installation. 👍

The final look is as advertised. The delivery was on time and the package was in good condition. It is mandatory to reed the instruction for the installation. Make sure that you mesure very prececely the cabinet before the installation and during the installation. Some cabinet may need adjustment to proceede to the installation therefore it might require additional tooling. This kit is made for an installation by the average person. Hope this helps your decision.

End result is very presentable but installation method should be rethought!

Beware! Beware! This trim kit is very difficult to install. The cabinet opening must be exactly the correct size and the tabs placed exactly in the correct spot height wise and length wise or the tabs in the outside trim will not fit. Also there is no height adjustment on the trim support for the microwave so the base of your cabinet better be flush with the cut out. My old trim kit was a cinch. Panasonic has designed this as a homeowner’s worst nightmare. The ridiculous thing is that the tabs are not necessary. My old one screwed directly into the cabinet. If you like a challenge, buy this trim kit. Our local installers charge $250 to put this in. After what I went through, I don’t think they charge enough! However, I must add, once installed correctly, it is a thing of beauty.

Product fits perfectly with the microwave and was reasonably easy to install. There were issues with the courier company, but the seller was very responsive and ensured that the issues were dealt with promptly and the delivery was successful.
