Price is right on this tool. The barb installer is very nice quality anodized aluminum, even the turn handles are aluminum and not plastic. Pops the barb right in, no fuss, first time. Great! The plastic hose cutter looks cheap, but does the job, cutting hoses easily. We'll see how it holds up, but for today I just needed to shorten the hoses on my bike build, and it did that without fuss. For the home mechanic, I'd highly recommend this kit. As this isn't a job you're likely to do often, and this kit good quality. Certainly looks better than the plasticy Shimano kit that costs 4x the price! Pro mechanics will get the Park kit of course, but I can't justify the extra cost when this works so well.

I used this to install new brake lines on my gravel tandem. I'd never done this kind of thing before but using this tool was super easy. The barb went in straight and I had no leaks after completion. I was concerned that this whole operation was delicate and I might need a high-priced tool from the big boy but this was fine. The hose cutter is not that great. I got another one from Jagwire and that worked great. Recommended.

The barb driver worked perfectly. It grips the hose tightly and the needle pushes in the barb perfectly in seconds. If anything, this tool is overbuilt, very solid and well machined; I cannot imagine it breaking. As everyone else has said, the hose cutter is really cheap. I threw it in the trash immediately as I already have a cable cutter that I bought decades years ago that also cuts hoses.

I was about to buy the Shimano original brake hose tool but found this one highly recommended in Amazon and decided to purchase it. The hose cutter worked to perfection so the hose nipple insertion tool. If you are the kind of Do It Yourself mechanic this is a good quality, affordable, easy to use tool for your brake hoses.

Press tool was amazing for installing barbs and even the plug so I could route a cut hose internally through my frame. Some people have complained about wobble which you need to make sure the double sided press tool is seated fully, it will wobble like crazy if not. Too clamps on the brake hose with proper force, no slipping. The cutter tools works very well, I've cut 6 lines so far with no dulling or issues. However it would be nice to know where I can buy replacement blades when needed. You should have a straight line cutting tool on hand, having a straight cut is imperative to preventing leaks at the fitting ends.

This purchase was almost a whim. I used a hammer up until now. OMG, this is so much better , easier and controllable. Yes, it's pricey for a tool you'll use very rarely but it makes fitting the ferrules so much better. The tool itself is fairly well made. Nothing to write home about but it gets the job done.

Slides the barbs in really nicely. Be sure the wiring is dry on the exterior prior to pinching in. Warm up the hose slightly to make more maleable. Take a narrow nail puncher and ensure hole is round. Cutter is useless. Went straight into bin immediately after opening package.

The driver is amazing. full metal and all threads are solid with no play. Holds tubing firmly and makes barb insertion a breeze. The cutter feels incredibly cheap and gave me one or two good cuts before producing a lot of frays. Overall would recommend but don't expect anything from the cutter.

I purchased this for a one off job to replace my brake hoses, on one bike, and install new ones on my new bike. Both the cutter, and insertion tool worked flawlessly. Whilst I don't need to use it regularly for the "occasional use" and home bike mechanic. Its exactly what is required.
