Don't read the search.
I think you don't have to read The Search, it wasn't good.Spoilers**I'm glad they didn't go through with Zuko not being related to Ozai--that would have been thematically terrible. I liked the spirit. Everything else was unsatisfying, bad, boring. So Ursa didn't leave the fire nation, she just abandoned her kids as completely as she possibly could. It should have been easy to make this compelling. It starts by introducing us to Ursa and Ozais marriage being a nonconcensual arranged marriage, and a post mortem revenge against Romu's bloodline, adding layers to the terrible abuse in the royal family. But then they have this boring journey where the Gaang act like they didn't have any character development. Also they wrote azula as an actual monster even as a small child rather than a victim of her father's abuse like Zuko. Pretty shallow, doesn't seem to fit with the themes of the show. The face spirit looked cool and that's the best thing about this. The worst part is that Ursa doesn't leave the fire nation she just decides to change her face and forget about her children, consciously choosing to abandon them even in her own mind. Wow, so cool. Yeah I'm just going to pretend I didn't read this.

Wrap it up.
So, we got the answer to.The question of where Zuko's mom went. At first, I thought they were going to stick with the reveal from the last book. This would have been nice but somewhat predictable. I'm glad that it didn't play out exactly how I thought it was going to. I wish we would have gotten more about Jess and Ozai's relationship when Zuko found his mom. I wonder if she will feature in the other comics. If she doesnt then it feels kind of pointless to know she is out there. Well, I wouldn't mind reading the other comics I guess.

Good story, but didn't quite like everything about it.
If you were hoping that this series would have you loving Zuko's dear mother even more than you already loved her from the show, prepare to be disappointed. I'll try not to spoil it too much, (though with that said, spoiler warning anyway) but I will say that despite the fact that in the TV series she appeared to have made some kind of completely selfless sacrifice to save Zuko, that wasn't *quite* the case. In fact, in the 3-part series "The Search", Ursa is quite a cowardly, spiteful, and most of all selfish woman. Her self-centered actions resulted in her own children's suffering while she went off and lived her lifelong "dream". Many of the Fire Nation's royal family struggles were actually almost as much her fault as they were Ozai's. This is a bit of a disappointment since she was supposed to be the one member of the family who really loved young Zuko, but after reading this it seems she didn't quite care about him *that* much. (End spoiler content)The more I read about Ursa's past, the more and more I came to dislike her. I just felt like the story was trying way too hard to get the audience to feel sympathy toward her, and yet as much as I wanted to, I just couldn't.Well, I know one thing now. Zuko didn't inherit his ability to be kind even to those who would kill him from his mother. That being said, I did enjoy the story. It wasn't quite what I expected, which is a good thing.

Great, but..
I really wish this 3 parter were much longer...especially being $7 each for the kindle copies. Seems like $10 would have been a good price for the whole set. However, if you're a fan of ATLAB, you will love this little story. It wraps things up well as far as Zuku and his mother goes *no spoilers*, and the art work is lovely. Very interesting details in this set of books. Can't wait to read more ATLAB comics. This was the first set I read. Not disappointed

Missing pages and pages torn out?!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I was so excited to get the last book in the series, and read it just so I can know what happened. I waited a day in excitement after getting the for at two from a different, good seller that gave me bookmarks with them (super cute and unexpected!)But when I got my order with this seller, most of the pages were out of the seam. I just decided OK that’s fine they may be unattached but at least they’re still here. When I go to the end of the book there is pages missing, so I don’t even know what happened in the end!! It’s blah, I wouldn’t have cared otherwise, but why give me a book with no ending—> pages missing?!

Ties Up Lose Threads, but Leaves a Few Purposfully Frayed.
As a huge fan of this series, though admittedly not until after the series had nearly ended on TV, I want to love every bit of ancillary Avatar: The Last Airbender fiction. I got so hyped for the live action movie, and was so let down. I wanted mote Avatar, more GOOD Avatar, and eventually went searching for news from the creators of the cartoon. That's when I stumbled on the existence of the comics, and I knew I had to buy them. So I gathered up old Amazon gift cards to alleviate the strain on my wallet, and bought The Promise and the first two parts of The Search (part three was not published yet) all at once, and I am so glad that I did. The art is beautiful, and the story so immediately captures the tone and pace of the cartoon that before long it was like watching the show again, which was in turn like revisiting an old friend. This is the installment in which everything come to a head. Why is Azula playing nice with the others? Answered. Where is Zuko's mother? Answered. Is Zuko actually Ozai's son and the heir to the throne of the fire kingdom? Answered. We learn so much here which develops Zuko's character, Azula's character, the character of Zuko's mother, heck, we even get good character stuff for Aang here, as well. It is slightly unsatisfying at the end, as I really wanted to see Azula resolve some of her issues here and maybe make a move toward redemption, and I don't think that anything that happens in this comic can really be taken as that. More than anything, though, I am disappointed that it ended at all. I just want this series with these characters to continue forever!

Mother of Faces...,and of sons and daughters.
Ah c'mon guys, who says they're completely happy with this final story in the series ?I read the reviews and must admit I expected more. Not more pages particularly but the ending seemed just a little flat and empty.Plus right,Azula disappeared ! What's that all about ?If I had the talent,I would've done it differently.I'm mighty pleased to read the book though, just so I can have an informed opinion. At least we get to see Sokka land a blow on Azula with his 'toy' weapon. The anger in Azula was good to see as was the greeting Zuko got from Kiyi.I'm not 100% sure what ending I wanted but maybe because the earlier storyswere so cotton pickin' good,I just expected a massively fulfilling ending. So I think what I'm saying is that I think there was a whole ton of good storyleft to tell and it seemed to be curtailed to fit within a three book series.I wish I could ask the creators what process they went through for this book.Hmm,why don't books have a Special Features at the end like DVDs...,with interviews...?Oh oh,and deleted scenes.Oh oh,and alternate endings...

Great
This is one of the latest books of the Avatar series. My daughter is a fan. Easy to see why. It's a quick-paced, well-constructed good old story about the daily (ordinary) struggle of (extraordinary) people. Battle between Good and Evil with changing success and both intermingling and mutating. A lot, growing-up people can relate to, about friendship, relationships, living with differences, changing attitudes, perseverance and self-control. Just like the real life. I am glad I can cut out a lot of explaining, particularly when they are more inclined to listen to others then their own parents. It has a feel-good factor too. So, I approve.

Very satisfying conclusion
I started watching the show at the start of the year and at the end I just fell in love with it and it became my number 1 most favourite show of all time. I was a bit baffled as to why they did not answer the question for the whereabouts of Zuko's mother but I didn't mind too much because I knew that the comic series would answer this question. I just wasn't sure if it would be a worthy answer.Well I am glad to say that this comic is not only one of the best in the series but one of the best reads I have had in a long time. I really do love this world and the fact that we can spend more time with these fantastic characters.I won't spoil anything but I will say that we get the ending we wanted and then some. This was a very well thought out story and it breaks my heart that Nickelodeon turned down the offer of making "The Search" series in to a animated movie with the same voice actors etc.I really hope that these comics get converted in to a few animated movies when The Legend of Korra is complete. In conclusion this is one of the best Avatar: TLA comics to date and I can recommend them to anyone who loved the show.I look really forward to reading "The Rift" when that comes out next year.5/5

just like the show
In the final part of the story we get some nice revelations and things are tied up pretty well. This is a must for fans of Zuko but it also has some nice moments for the other regulars. The dialogue captures the characters perfectly and the art is almost like stills from the show. I can't really fault these books other than having to wait the best part of a year to get "3 episodes" of the show is a long wait. Possibly better to wait until all 3 parts are done before starting.

Epic!!
Loved reading this. I am a massive fan of "The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra" and after reading the first two installments of this comic, I couldn't find the third anywhere.Great item, great price. Excellent delivery and dispatch time!!
