Van Holten's Big Papa Dill Pickles (30 Count)

I've bought just about every pickle that exists. All the major brands, local brands, cheap ones, expensive ones. I've bought several of the Van Holten 12 pack cases from Amazon also, in all available flavors. These are the "hearty dill" ones, and are good pickles, but I slightly prefer the "Kosher dills" which say "zesty garlic" on them, but that's just a preference for more garlic, probably. In any case, they're all pretty good. Dill, Kosher Dill, Sour, Hot. Haven't tried the ones with the red brine that I've only seen on Amazon. As for the price, it came to $1.67 each. That sounds like a lot for a large multi pack like this, but they seem much bigger even than the Jumbo size in the 12 packs. I still had some of those left when I bought those, so I could compare. These are HUGE pickles! A lot of stores sell the jumbo singles for up to $2, so I figure it's what I'd be spending anyway, so that justifies buying this amount. While I love these pickles and they're my favorites ever, I eat one every day usually, I would suggest trying before committing to such a huge amount. Some supermarkets have singles, and Amazon has smaller quantities available. But if you found yourself routinely buying the 12 packs here on Amazon, this price isn't any worse, and you get bigger pickles and a cool plastic barrel with little pickle bags (very cute!)

These pickles are Sour and Salty, just the way I love them. I was looking for the old fashioned Barrel pickles Grandpa and I use to get many moons ago. But alas still have not found anything that comes close to the memories. That being said the Pickle in a pouch has always been my go to from a grocery store. Our local stores quit carrying them or at least having them in stock regularly. I decided to go with these and they taste just like the individual pouch version and overall cheaper. I have not had to refrigerate these so I have a small container with a lid that I put Pickle juice and two pickles at a time into the fridge. They crisp up more when they are cold and that's how I like them. I would definitely buy these again!!! Reading some of the reviews on here I must have gotten a good batch that did not get too hot in shipping. Liquid was not cloudy at all.

I love these. I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant and was craving these so bad!! Amazon was the only place I could find them. I think they are a bit overpriced (I payed $50 for 30 pickles) but they are soooo good!! All of the flavors are so good! I like the big papa ones the best

I only like dill and these are my very favorite. A little pricy but the last a few months and sit on my counter without spoiling. I use the pickles and pickle juice in all kinds of salads, potato, crab, tuna and anything else u can think of. Enjoy

A one-star deduction for being very salty. Otherwise, very tasty!

I was getting frustrated because so often my local stores would be out of these. So I bought the giant jar, which will last for months, and saved a bunch of money by buying the large jar. Happy! Yes, there are a lot of other Bill pickles out there, and pickles, like wine are pretty much a matter of taste. I, of course, have perfect taste, which is probably a lot like perfect pitch in music isn't it?

Bought this item for personal use and was very satisfied. Size and taste were exactly what I was craving and the crunch was awesome. Wish they were a bit cheaper but still good product.

The taste is good, but I think that the texture leaves something to be desired. These lack the crispness and snap that I like in a pickle. Also, I wish there was a little more information about storage and how long these will stay good in the container once it has been opened.
