Is there holes / or a lip in the frame to secure the plywood to the base?** A: The plywood sits on a lip, but is contained within the 4 corners of the drop down supports. And, if the plywood is cut to 4x4, it is impossible for it to fall out, much less move at all. I have three 4x8 foot sections in my garage.... fantastic! **Q: When installing the two 4x4 units to make 4x8, do you just use 6 ceiling supports?** A: I doubled up the verticle supports in the center sections when installed as one 4x8 shelf. (You need to in order to connect the horizontal bars that support the plywood). I doubled the rafter hangers in the center too, extra support and the other option is throw them away or have them lay around unused. **Q: How thick is the base +plywood? my garage door allows for 16" of space above the door and im trying to determine how much space i will have leftover.** A: Base height is 3". If you use our recommended 3/8" plywood the bottom support total height base + plywood is 3.375 inches. I’m assuming you’re asking because there isn’t a beam parallel to one of the sides in your installation location. One end was ripped open and some parts were missing. Nothing major, but some small screws and wing nuts. I did order a white one, but gray showed up. Those are the reasons for just 4 stars. That said, it wasn't that easy to install. No fault of the product, but working on a 10 ft ceiling made it a bit of a challenge for me. Once up, it is very sturdy and strong. I actually had to climb up on it to set the second piece of wood. The instructions could have been a bit better, but they are sufficient. Overall, very pleased.
