Very difficult to get the liquid out, the only way I could do it is to push the mechanism inside with a bobby pin. Is it the same for everyone else?

I found it the same. No problem on bony areas, however fleshy or fat areas need extra assistace. I use my fingernail to push in... Or I put it on a bony area and use my finger to apply.

What are the dimensions? Specificly the length in mm? I'm hoping to add this to a kit I am biulding mostly for bug bites.

It is in a stick container with gel inside. To use, you press the stick on your skin until the gel comes out. Works like a tide to go pen.
