Have It, Like It & Would Buy Again
I bought this item back in midsummer for sports card, coins and stamp collecting help. It's an outstanding item! The light is really bright but it does not put glares on the items if you have the angle set correctly. The top cover for the magnifier is nice for protecting that upper side of the lens from being scratched or damaged. The lamp has a good size cord for plugging in easier with room to set it up close to your area of work. The only drawback for me is the mounting bracket and anchor for the light. I use hard plastic composite tables that will indent some when the lamp is attached tightly and then extended towards the work area. I noticed an accessory in the "Commonly Bought Together Area" that is a base with screw holes for more mechanical grip to the mounting area and that should relieve the "C clamp" that is stock by tightening a lower end handle that pushes the contact plate underneath to the table BUT when you get it snug if can and will slip off the table due to hardened plastic giving in to the pressure on the mounting bracket in extension. I would only say to the manufacturer to add some depth to the lower bracket and top as to the length from the inside bracket face to the edge of a table so to allow for less stress there. Again, the additional bracket would screw down and do better but if you have a nice office desk you wouldn't screw one down and the bracket that's stock could slip or shift and scar the surface. That's is the only issue that I've had in 5 months of sorting 60K sports cards and I have it on a Sams Club hard plastic folding table that the legs fold and the center folds to half the surface area for storage and mobility etc. It pressed the plastic in 2 of my 5 tables by weight shifting to the area of the adjustable set screw. AS for light, you can elevate it above your head sitting and use it as a secondary light source and the arms and pivots in this items mechanics are incredibly durable and show no weakness at all as to bending or losing up as cheaper models will do. It's a real help to have for those of us who dive into the details as well as when aging to use as a source to read mail with or other small projects. Overall I give it an 8 of 10 with the only takeaway being the brackets lack of surface area to secure it better. I plan to purchase one for my father (73 yrs old) so he can have it for stamps and coims and when he's done he can just fold it back towards the base and it basically removes itself from being in the way. 1 more, the lens is a nice size and works well for reading or seeing the detail in everything I've put it on to observe...

I am VERY pleased with this light
I thought this light was somewhat expensive compared to others that are available, but I purchased it anyway based on all of the positive reviews. I am VERY pleased with this light. It is extremely heavy-duty, and it moves to multiple positions and stays in place. I have it clamped to my sewing table, and the illumination it provides is an incredible improvement over the lights I was using previously. FINALLY, the area around the presser foot it brightly illuminated, which makes it much easier to sew! The magnifying glass is not quite as good as I had hoped, in that I do notice a small amount of chromatic aberration (as noted by others), but I have found that if I do not put my face so close to the lens I can see quite a bit better and the very slight distortion does not bother me. I use the magnifying glass to see the eye of the needle when threading it, and it works just fine for that. I also like that there is a dust cover for the lens. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It would have been worth the price even without the magnifying glass because it is so well made & the light is so bright--and for me, the magnifying glass is simply a bonus that performs within a perfectly acceptable range for my needs.

Very Robust unit with good range of motion
This unit replaced a circular florescent bulb magnifier with a large transformer in the base. The old unit had strong springs but you had to slacken and re-tighten the clamps at the joints every time you moved it or the springs would return it to the "parked" position. This unit is well built, good quality and is balanced so it will stay where you pull it to and is fairly stable and not easily knocked off station once positioned. I knocked of star rating points for 3 small reasons. 1. The magnifier is just too powerful. If you are doing soldering work which I am, the work has to be within 1.5-2" of the lens to be in focus. The light then gets very in the way of working and also gets dirty very quickly during soldering and needs cleaned every few hours as the solder flux smoke gets all over the lens. 2. It isn't super bright. I have a powerful overhead triple strip light other wise it would be difficult to get a good view of items you are pulling into view. This may be connected with the fact the field of view of the lens is quite restrictive due to the magnifying power but may also be because of the light angle from the LEDs. 3. The last reason only applies top people with standard industrial style electronic assembly benches like me, but the first section of arms is too long for a standard workbench with fixed overhead lighting. These benches are all very similar in size and shelf position. When the unit is clamped on the shelf, it cannot be pushed further upwards than the shelf height as the first arm set hits the overhead florescent strip light diffuser. If you pull it sideways to avoid that, the entire mechanism ends up under the overhead light blocking loads of the light. Overall I could not afford the $250+ for a so-called professional industrial version of this product and this unit does the job and is astronomically lower cost and good value for money. Unlike my previous unit, all the important moving and rotating parts are made of good quality metal so I think this will have a long life and is standing up well to constant daily use. If you can live with the issues I stated above, I believe it is a solid 4 star product that will last a long time. I would recommend this.

Perfect light
My favorite light!! I own 3 of these for various places in my house. Painting studio & cross stitch area. The light is pleasant, not hard on the eyes. The flexibility is fabulous. This light works with the Lawrey stand light adapter

Good quality - useful
Very nice manifying desk lamp. Materials and construction are great. The swingarm is easy to move and holds its position well. However, the swivel joint of the head is too stiff and requires two hands to manipulate. Maybe it will loosen up over time and become easier to use... The light ring is bright and very usable in most situations, but I wish it had an "extra bright" mode for getting a really good look at things under the magnifying glass. I really like the 2.5x magnification - it seems to be just the right amount for a range of close-up work, but not overly powerful so that you can't see things outside of a narrow band of focus.

OUTSTANDING QUALITY & VALUE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
ONEof the BEST PRODUCTS I EVER PURCHASED! I purchased this lamp back in 2019, and it has worked flawlessly on a daily basis ever since! All the lamps of this type that I had purchased in the past had diffculty maintaing the angle it was set to - no matter how hard I tightened the wing nuts/joints. THIS LAMP IS AMAZING! IT STAYS PUT NO MATTER WHERE WHAT ANGLE IT SET IT TO! It has only one wing nut - located at the head of the lamp. The "elbow" of the arms has no nut or bolt toe tighten, but it stays firm and secure. YOU SIMPLY POSITION THE ARMS OF THE LAMP ANYWHERE YOU WANT, AT ANY ANGLE, AND IT STAYS! I use it everyday, and frequently change the angle, and it has remained tight and secure all these years! Frankly, I don't really understand how they manage that. IMPECCABLE WORKMANSHIP! On the other hand, the lamp I purchased prior to this one was one of the absolute worst purchases I ever made! it was: Daylight UN1030 Naturalight 7-Inch Magnifying Lamp (a fire hazard, which thankfully is no longer available). It worked for only 30 minutes before the wire connector burned/melted and nearly caused a fire! And during the few minutes it worked, Unfortuanately, I was in the process of moving to a new home, and by the time I had a chance to use it, the return window had elapsed.

Sturdy, large, bright, but still I must return it
This lamp is a beast. It is over 4 feet long and made with heavy, sturdy metal. The lamp is very bright and the magnifier is quite large. When I pull the magnifier down and hold it over an object, this whole setup performs quite well. It seems like a very durable product for what it is designed for. Now the cons: It is so long that it towers over my drafting table when in the air and mostly overshoots the table when pulled down. The heavy weight of the lamp, combined with the strong springs makes it hard for it to stay in place, unless you are physically holding it. When I try to light an area, it never stays exactly where I want it, and when the desktop is tilted, the problem gets much worse because it cannot be side mounted on the table (due to the weight of the whole lamp), because it swings down the table. Considering how sturdy the lamp is, it is unfortunate that some of the tightening apparatus are made from plastic, because the plastic is not as sturdy. The desk clamp is unusually small for such a heavy lamp. For most of my drawing tasks, I have found the light to be too bright and it has no dimmer setting. So, in the end, this lamp is not right for what I need it to do, but for others I'm sure this lamp will work great, especially if you have a large, flat working surface and depend on a magnifier.

Robustly designed and built - best I have found
I bought this lamp to replace an older lamp with a CFL. After 30 days of use, I can say that this lamp is very well designed and made. I consider it an upgrade in every key way. Here are the notable points: - Light is bright, evenly distributed and not blue-tinged like earlier LEDs. - Armature is really, really well designed and build rock solid. This is key for a lamp of this type. - Rotation is a full 360 degrees. Some lamps have restricted movement. - Dust flap is robust enough to stand years of use. - Gimbal that connects lamp to armature is steel and robustly designed. It also contains enough friction to hold its position easily, which means it stays exactly where you put it, which can be important when doing close-in work looking through the glass. My impression is that most lamps get about 90% of it right, but that last 10% is crucial. If the lamp doesn't rotate into position easily, you lose work time fiddling with it. If the lamp doesn't hold position easily, your work is distracted by constant adjustment. If the light output isn't bright or off color from what you prefer, it makes it hard to do close-in work. This product does the job on all counts. I would buy it again.

Top notch product ... got to buy !
I just love this lamp ... very long reach, making it very useful on a large desk, very sturdy construction, it stays where you set it (just as advertised). Brightness is great, I love two tones (warm and daylight, variable intensity). Being able to protect the lens with its integrated cover is also a great feature. Magnification is just good for my needs (I work among other things at fixing very little mechanical parts on a hobby helicopter). Overall very well engineered and manufactured. Only improvement I suggest is the location of variable intensity touch buttons is too close to the front end and I continuously hit them by accident while moving the lamp :( ... they should be at the rear end, along with the power switch, as far as I am concerned. Highly recommended !!!

Excellent product but voltage should be more prominently displayed
The info on the screen should make clear an adapter is needed to use this in the UK

Great Mag Light
I have used many magnifying lamps over the last five or six years. Brand names like Ott and Daylight, as well as others. I’m always looking for a good Magnifier. This one fills the bill. The lens is glass which makes a big difference in terms of precision viewing, the lights are bright but not glaring, the unit itself is very sturdy and the springs are encased so there is less of a chance of you snagging something or pinching yourself when moving the lamp. It’s a very good value.
