Compact but Powerful
If you're buying this for solo/duo Live performance or music playback in a small to medium venue I think you will be very happy. First it's so light and easy to pack and transport - only took one trip from car to stage. Second, extremely easy to set up, plug-in, and start performing. I was using in a very large (200 capacity?) venue with about 60 people in attendance. Used for both voice/speaker and wifi-bluetooth to iPhone music playback. It could be easily and clearly heard throughout the venue. I am sure it would be the same if plugged in with mics/instruments. It took about 80-90% of volume to get there but I really did not need anymore. WIll update if needed after I use for Live performance. This was intended as a spare for my Bose L1 system but now it may be my "Go To".

Nice sound.
I have 2 of these for my home studio and I love them. They are in the corners, kinda hard to see. These are loud enough for my use and they sound nice and clear. I come out of my mixer and don’t really use individual channels very often. They are very light and easy to move and set up. Comes with carry bags.

Ok Bluetooth speaker, app issues.
I figured I’d give this speaker a shot since it’s light weight only to find out it’s sound is lacking. It sounds ok but I wouldn’t use this for anything other than a Bluetooth speaker. You will definitely need a subwoofer to augment the low end. The app failed me during a gig and been trying to to get it to work for the past few days and nothing. The message I get from the Home Screen is “Make sure you’re connected to the speaker via bluetooth”, which I am. I tried deleting the app, forgetting the speaker on blutooth and reconnecting restarted my phone and nothing. This speaker is pretty much useless now besides using it as a bluetooth speaker which the JBL party box’s are much better sounding than this and cheaper. Needless to say this speaker is not worth the price and is bound to fail. This speaker is only 2 months old and it’s over priced for its quality.

Mackie Quality + Extreme Ease of Setup and Portability
Wow! I've needed a system like this for years!!!! Only 30+ pounds to ship to show site. Was able to pack the entire Mackie SRM/Flex + a wireless mic system + 4 Chauvet EZWedge lights + 4" Gaffer tape (35' role) + packing tape + 4 power strips and 2-25' extension cords into one Pelican case. The entire kit was only 90lbs!!!! My first live use was at a product sales road show in Chicago. Long room with almost 40 people. One wall was nothing but windows (see pic). I set the Mackie SRM Flex behind one of the banners in the front of the room. Ran two wireless Lavs and wireless Handheld into the Mackie. Also connected my smartphone via Blue Tooth to the Mackie on channel 5. Ran everything, walk-in and break music, speaker mics from the back of the room via the Mackie App on my phone. Worked FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! Just as great, setup of the Mackie only took 5 minutes. Would of taken less, but my solutions instructor (former DJ) was blown away by the Mackie and I kept showing him all the features. Sound quality: - wireless lav mics. Once I EQ'd them in, pretty solid. I had to cut the highs some so it wasn't so tinny. That could be a result of the room setup + a 40 foot wall of windows. Also, I was using a Phenyx wireless system, so the mics aren't on par with Shure. I did try my Shure Wireless lav out on the Mackie and the tone was more pleasant and not as tinny without any EQing. - Music: I ran both music on my phone and from Pandora for walk-in and break music. Sounded frickin' incredible!!!!! - Musical Instruments: Side note, I'm also a guitarist. So I tried out the Mackie SRM Flex with my acoustics. Plugged my Taylor 814ce directly into the Mackie and also plugged my Taylor through my pedal board. Tone was pretty good. But the Mackie as well as most portable linear PA's have limited EQ capability to truly help shape an acoustic guitar's to sound natural. So I'll probably still pick up a LR Baggs preamp/DI or a Bose ToneMatch engine to get a true acoustic tone. - Con: I honestly thought 1300 watts would provide more power/volume and headroom? But I've only tried the Mackie SRM Flex in two rooms, so I need to try it in a few more venues before I draw a conclusion here.

Great Value but Poorly Written Instructions
Easy to carry and set up—Instructions are poorly written and incomplete. System works well but much easier to adjust settings using the phone app. However, there are virtually no instructions on how to install and use the phone app—needed to find a friend who uses the system to assist with app.

The SRM-Flex would be 'OK' for small venues or a events where you don't need to "push it". Do not mistake this for a room mover or DJ column! The unit clips so often that you really question the wattage claim of 1300W (peak?) Maybe 300, maybe. It might not be fair to compare against a Bose l1 pro8... but we had them to test side-by-side. At max non-clipping volume the SRM-Flex got thin sounding and was drowned out by the rich full sound of the Bose at less than 50% of its volume. 3 stars for being, nice looking, light enough to pack, and usable enough for non-DJ gig work where you don't need the extra punch.
