Must-have for SCAR owners
I love everything about my SCAR 17S except for the length of the hand rail. This rail extension solved my only problem. I don't have long arms, but the original length is too short...it limits how far I can straighten my arm while shooting. I have a light mounted and because of where the rail ends, the barrel casts a huge shadow to the side. After installing the rail extension, there's very little shadowing and I can stretch my arm comfortably. The longer length also gives a shooter better control of the fore end. The instructions are pretty easy to follow, but I strongly recommend watching the PWS SRX instructions on YouTube. Another reviewer mentioned he didn't have to apply any heat to the barrel screws...but I wasn't as fortunate. You don't need a scary-looking Terminator- or Mad Max-type flamethrower...I'm a cigar puffer and a torch will do the job just fine (If you like your thumbs, don't use a cheap butane lighter). The factory thread lock is pretty tough and the barrel screws are the 5-point star type, so you don't want to risk stripping them if you have difficulty removing them as I did. Overall, the extra length is what you need if you don't want your arm to tire out while you're at the range. I'm a big FNH fan, and it's a shame they don't make the hand rail longer. This extension is worth the $190.

Came with no instructions
Primary Weapons System SRX Rail Extension for the Scar 17. Seems like a good idea. The product came with no instructions. What would we do without you tube videos? Finding out that the barrel needs to be removed before installing this rail extension was a surprise! Surprise number two, allen head screws need to be torqued to 62 inch pounds to prevent barrel canting during re-assembly. Oh yea, I dont have a inch pound torque wrench. FN will sell you one for $89.00 plus shipping. Lets go to Home Depot and get one for $80.00 It went on okay. The torque setting is a Scar thing not Primary Weapons Systems thing. Having this knowledge before I bought it would have been nice. Some instructions from the manufacturer would have been nice. It looks like I can service the gas system without taking the rail extension off, thats a good thing. Its Okay This is not the best written review but I found the install kind of soured me on the rail extension. It is a nice place to mount my Harris bipod.

Its alittle heavy but blends into the lines of the rifle & doesn't look like an add on piece
It takes alittle skill to assemble but is so worth it. Its alittle heavy but blends into the lines of the rifle & doesn't look like an add on piece. Makes the rifle so much more user friendly.

Awesome awesome! Take your time and read the directions
Awesome awesome! Take your time and read the directions. Great piece for forward hand placement. The directions say to heat some of the bolts during removal. I took them out slow and didn't have to do so and they came out fine.

Makes the scar look more like a sbr
Makes the scar look more like a sbr. Make sure you read the instructions and use a torch to remove stock screws that have thread lock.

I wanted to write about how great this accessory is and for everyone complaining about how ...
I bought this off of another popular gun site, was a little cheaper with their free shipping and no tax however it took 2 weeks to get to me. I wish I would have purchased it off of here. I wanted to write about how great this accessory is and for everyone complaining about how difficult it was to install, come on... This took all of 10 minutes to install, the directions provided are more than stupid proof and as long as you have a basic hex key set and a torque wrench it is incredibly easy, try having your favorite beverage while you are installing it :) Can't wait to get out and shoot with it on this weekend!
