Best Tripod-Based Mounting Solution for Shoulder Straps
As mentioned several times in other reviews, this is more expensive than similar products. However - In my opinion, the design and precise workmanship of the Custom SLR C-Loop is superior to its less expensive competitors. The C-Loop attached to my camera's tripod mount without any problems. A thick rubber gasket prevents metal-to-metal contact/friction to ensure no scratches to the camera body. A big positive is that no tools are needed - simply lift the built-in ring (See picture 2), hand tighten to attach, and flip the ring back down into the C-Loop. I much prefer the two side-mounting slots for strap attachments as it gives the overall product a much lower profile. I use the Custom SLR Camera Air Strap but practically any shoulder strap with looping ends should be compatible. The C-Loop is free-spinning so there is absolutely *zero* strap-tangling issues. There are some caveats and important things to consider when using this product. This does not apply specifically to only the C-Loop but to *any* mount that uses the tripod hole. These solutions are glorified screws --- meaning there is nothing that 100% prevents them from coming undone and having your $$$ camera from falling to the ground. The aforementioned rubber gasket helps minimize slippage but it is still not fool-proof. I have gotten into a habit of checking the mount after a series of taking photos to ensure a tight fit. The "no tools needed" design and built-in ring makes this very easy and quick. Another item to consider is that using these mounts means that you cannot you use a tripod nor can you set the camera flat on it's bottom. Again, the C-Loop's built-in ring speeds up removal/re-attachment but it will get very tedious if you often switch back and forth between hand-holding and tripod mounting. All things considered, I really love this product because it fits my hand-held shooting style and need for quick-access. On the other hand, my wife prefers and shoots considerably more from the tripod (macros, landscape, night time stars, etc). In her case, the C-Loop and its comparable brethren probably would not be as appreciated. If your style preference is similar to mine then I am sure you will be happy with the Custom SLR C-Loop.

Hands down, or hands free - fantastic!
So, yes, its expensive. And yes, buy the glide strap, which is also expensive.I can carry my 7D, with the Canon 100-400L on it... and it's EASY to carry. The BIGGEST MOST AWESOME feature is the lack of a "strap in the face" over the eye piece when shooting in portrait mode. I HATED that. This gear WILL help you "get the shot" before its gone as you fight with your stupid old neck strap.Did I mention its comfortable too? Really almost no stress at the end of a day of shooting.Construction is top notch. Quality is outstanding. I could most likely use this to tow a boat if if I had to.Did I mention its expensive? Then again, how much is your camera and lens worth? Want it hitting the ground after saving a few bucks with "brand "X""? Not me.The swivel is really well made. I did find that after a few weeks of hard use, it "squeaked" a little as it twisted under load on my hip. I carefully added a DROP of graphite lube, silent - and has been for a month now.Two issues that could be problems or pains for some people - 1- This mounts on the tripod mount. So in order to mount to a tripod/monopod, you must remove the CSLR mount. They do make an adapter for this issue, but it costs more money. My lenses use tripod rings when I'm in the need for a tripod.. so this is a non issue, but it could be for others. 2 - Since this bolts to the underside of the camera - the camera can't sit level on a surface anymore That was a nice feature I liked to do when I need some basic stabilization.

Solid, Safe and Convenient!
Fantastic product. Very safe and secure. It even attaches to my heavy 70-200mm Canon 2.8L lens and Canon 5D Mark III. I love the nature of the swivel, so I don't have to worry about it coming unscrewed. The small number of people who remarked that it failed for them, did not clarify that their failure was due to them not properly attaching their camera strap to the C-Loop. I can not see how the C-Loop would fail otherwise. It is very strong and elegantly engineered. I also love that I can quickly attach it to my camera or remove it, so I can put it on my tripod. Other similar solutions are bulky or have additional quick disconnects that dangle and are made of metal which can scratch your camera screen. This can't scratch your camera if you use a quality nylon or kevlar camera strap like the upstrap brand.

Yes, expensive, but a quality product that works well
As other reviewers have mentioned, for such a small product, this item is a bit expensive. I realize it's a precision machined device, but it's aluminum, not titanium for pete's sake! That's my only reason for not giving a 5-star "Love it" score. With that out of the way, I'll say I'm very satisfied with the device. I have seen other products that allow you to mount a neckstrap to the tripod mount, but there are complaints that they loosen with use, and can allow your camera to fall! Not so with this product; the swivel feature works very well, and with the neoprene washer cinched down snug, I haven't noticed any turning of the screw. The bold design of the screw and integrated handle is also an easy visual indicator of whether it is coming loose or not.I am using it with the CustomSLR Glide Strap, only using the loops on the C-Loop, and neither of the camera body's strap mounts. This combination (Glide Strap and C-Loop) works very well, and provides for a comfortable carrying position of the camera. I have considered using only one side of the C-Loop in combination of the factory loop mounts, but would need to get a different strap to do so. There are other products out there to let you do this, but the reviews of many of them mention problems with those products coming unscrewed, allowing the camera to fall.
