Perfect fit for my 12 year old discontinued Kohler toilet

Perfect for rounded triangle hole
If you need this part, then this is the part you need. You’re not going to be able to make some universal kit work. If you have a one-piece Kohler toilet with a hole that is shaped like a Wankel rotor, this is what you’re looking for. The main body is about 3” diameter, and the canister that moves up and down when flushing is ~5.75” tall. Installation seems daunting, but is simple enough. Disassemble it by removing the yellow disc at the top and sliding off the floating canister. Twist that beam in the middle and remove it, leaving the base. Stretch the gasket over the bottom ears (I had the flat side down), pour some dish soap on the bottom, and set it in the hole, making sure the ears are lined up with the points of the triangle hole. Set a rag on top and push down hard and twist. It will eventually move into the locked position. It takes a good amount of force, and I think plenty of soap is necessary for the gasket to slide. I’ve attached a picture of what it looks like at this step. Then just reassemble the other pieces.

Genuine Kohler Part that fits Cimmaron One-Piece Toilet
After much research I found this. Perfect replacement for the cylinder in the Kohler Cimmaron One-Piece Toilet even if the part number does not match but you have the triangular opening in the base of the cistern this should fit. Also be careful with the triangular tabs that hold it in place. One of these had snapped off on the old cylinder and my toilet was continuously running hence the need for the repair. Seems they are apt to break off - follow the provided instructions (dish soap and pressure on the gasket) when installing and you should be OK.

Works for me! But tough to install!
I have a 2018 Kohler Cimarron single-piece commode that leaked water out between the base gasket and the bottom of the tank. This kit fixed the leak, but it was a bear installing the new gasket with the new base. I applied dish soap between the gasket and all surfaces of the new base before attempting the install, but the thickness of the bottom of the tank meant that I had to apply all the force that I could muster to compress the gasket to fit between the base flange and bottom of the tank while moving the bottom tabs on the base underneath the tank bottom and locking the base in position. In my opinion, the ease of installing this kit is totally dependent on how thick the bottom of your tank is.
