Lixit Igloos and Hideaways for Guinea Pigs, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils and Other Small Animals (Assorted, Large Space Pod)

My rats have officially moved in and declared this Lixit Igloo their forever home. Honestly, I’m just the landlord now.From the moment I set it in the cage, it was love at first sight. It’s cozy, private, and apparently the perfect spot for a mid-morning nap, a post-lunch nap, a pre-dinner nap... you get the idea. My rats spend so much time in there, I’m thinking of charging rent.It’s lightweight, easy to clean, and durable enough to survive dramatic rat rearranging sessions. Plus, it looks adorable in their setup — like a tiny VIP lounge for the world's cutest little loaf.If your small pet needs a cozy hideout where they can live their best napping life, this is THE spot. 10/10 from me and 100/10 from my rats.

My pet rats favorite place to hide. Hang them from the top of cage as well and have them standing on the ground and they love them.

These hides are great and easy to assemble, they work and fit with Kaytee cages to create awesome enclosures. Not noisy when the critters run through, and are easy to keep clean so they don't smell. Safety clips together to not injure any critters, and they hold up solidly. Price is good, but you really can't find them anywhere else.

The media could not be loaded. A sputnik is like the most basic required rat accessory! They’ll love it! Five of my rats (somehow) manage to fit in the large sputnik “comfortably.” It can be mounted at the top of the cage to hang down or placed on the bottom of the cage. If you hang it from the top of the cage, I’d recommend a zip tie or two (especially if your rats are testing the upper most weight limit on the thing by crowding in - as mine did).(I am an Amazon Affiliate and have the potential to earn commissions on sales of this product if accessed through my affiliate link.)

My rats are obsessed! I have 4 rats and they love to sleep in a pile in it, but it’s held on by 3 clip like mounts. When they all get in it one of the 3 clips pop off. So they are hanging by 2 clips. I had to buy another thinking they’ll split the weight. Afraid it will detach and they’ll fall since it’s mounted at the top of cage. Put a “safety net” under it.

Only one rat can fit in here at a time, but one of our pair is always sleeping in this thing. It does come unhooked from the top of the cage fairly often, other than that it’s been a great buy.

I love pods and so do my pet rats! Every rat owner that I know, who has one, has happy rats who like to see how many can squeeze into it. For full sized rats THIS IS NOT THE SIZE TO BUY! I have the large ones for them. I have this size for my dwarf rats only. You want this for smaller rodents, such as hamsters, gerbils, mice and such. Mine love it hanging from the top of the cage but the aforementioned pocket pets usually prefer it on the bottom, like in the photo from Amazon. Be sure to clean regularly as some pets like to pee in it. If they do, wipe it out with a damp cloth or paper towels and dry daily and take out and scrub weekly, at least. If you use it on the floor of the cage and your pet puts bedding in it, be sure they are not peeing and/or pooping in it. If they are, you should dump the bedding daily or AT LEAST every other day. If you don't know this NEVER use pine or cedar shavings as they contain phenols which are toxic, especially for rats, they will, over time, cause lung scarring and respiratory problems and other organs will be affected too. If you insist on using shavings kiln dried Aspen is the only kind that does not contain phenols. Though I would still recommend putting a soft bedding on top of them. Imagine yourself sleeping on wood shavings. Plus the dust from them can get in tiny eyes and be uncomfortable and scratch them. Use a natural unscented bedding ( corncob bedding is dangerous too ). Just a bit of education with my review! These pods are awesome! Wouldn't be without them for my fur babies.Side note : I have one hanging in my mice cage and will find 7 females in a mouse pile in it! Absolutely adorable!

We could not function without our Space Pods! This is a staple in my rat cage. My boys frequently choose their space pods over hammocks for sleeping, cuddling, or just hanging out. The Lixit Space Pods are made so well too! They last forever. I'm still using two Space Pods from my previous girls group and then bought two new ones to add even more sleeping and hiding spots to the boy's cage. I also love that you can either put them on he floor or hang them upside down from the top of the cage. I don't completely trust the hanging feet though, so I actually put metal hanging hooks through the holes in the feet in order to hang my Space Pods from the top of the cage. That makes them very secure and able to hold the weight of all my boys when they decide to all get in there at once. I also love how easy they are to clean. Simply wipe them down with a wet cloth or baby wipes and they're good as new. My only request for the company is that they start making these in an Extra Large size. The Lixit Space Pod Large IS the largest of all the sputnik type space pods, but when you've got 4 big boys like I do, it would be awesome to have a bigger one. I also wish they came in different colors. Some of the other companies offer different colors, but they're smaller than the Lixit one is, so I never order those. I'd love to have a choice of colors.
