it is 100% meant for outdoors; it's similar to the Spalding Street ball which is a very rubbery material. I personally didn't expect this as I like a more composite material.

No it is not, outside balls typically have a rubber compound cover, but as this is the same ball that my daughter uses in her games it is the ball she practices with at home. The cover will not last as long as one made for outdoor play, but for practice it is better for providing the same feel if your child's team uses the same one.
