This is the only DVD that includes all five half-hour Rick Steves' Europe” TV shows on Eastern Europe, produced from 2000 to 2007: Prague and the Czech Republic; PolandKrakow, Auschwitz and Warsaw; BudapestThe Best of Hungary; Slovenia and Croatia;and Surprising Bulgaria. The running time is two hours and 30 minutes. Filmed on location by America's most popular travel guidebook writer, Rick Steves' DVDs offer one great escape after another, from Europe's most thrilling cities to its charming, little-known villages. These DVDs are of the highest broadcast quality (NTSC format, all region compatible), with closed-captioning. Each DVD is packaged in a durable Amaray case with on-location cover photos and complete program details. Review: Great overview - We have the first three episodes and they are great. But I wish desertcart would warn you that already have one of the videos before you purchase it again. We had bought the Budapest video in it's single season and it was the same one here. So I paid for it twice. This of course is not Rick Steves fault and folks should just beware. However the Prague video I think is different. All are great overviews of the areas covered. Review: Interesting and honest - I chose this video because I was tired of the same old travel shows featuring Florence and Paris. Steves does a very nice job touring Eastern Europe, and showing you places that may not spring to a travel guide's lips. More importantly, I give him all credit for not shying away from the recent political situations in these areas. He engages in honest and intriguing conversation with the natives of all the affected regions.

A Fun Way to Live Vicariously!
Rick Steves never disappoints when taking you through the most interesting sights of any country. Beautifully filmed, this adventure leaves you wanting to go touring along with Rick! He takes you to some of the most famous places, but also shows some little known gems that make trips special. I watch these films with my children, after which we fantasize which places we would go if given the chance! Good, clean fun!!

Informative!
I am from Budapest, Hungary, living in the US for more than 30 years, and was searching for a while for something to show to my friends about my home country. This video is perfect! Short, informative, entertaining, detailed and accurate! I would strongly recommend it to anybody who wants to know more about this gem of Europe, or plans to visit it!

Great overview
Excellent overview of the cities and countries in Eastern Europe. If you're planning a trip to Europe for the first or more than first time, check out Steve's videos. He does take you on and off the usual tourist path. Well worth a look.

Lonely Planet and Rick Steves side-by-side and Steves guide books are superior. I also like his philosophy of travel
As has already been said, unless budget, either monetary or space in luggage, prevents you from buying the versions of the individual cities you will be going, this is ok. A book this thick is cumbersome and it seems to have a "crammed" feel to it while reading. We went to three cities in three countries and the individual books covered more and were easier to handle in the day-pack. While not a huge fan of Rick Steves television show, I have perused Frommers, Lonely Planet and Rick Steves side-by-side and Steves guide books are superior. I also like his philosophy of travel. Still, if you can only take one guide book, this would be it.

definitely work it
Rick Stevens books and Dvd are excellent. I am a travel consultant and have suggested these to my clients, as well as for my own library. I only wish the Eastern Europe had included Bulgaria and Romania. How about one on the Danube from Germany to the Black Sea??
