GAME CHANGER
This thing is a total game changer for me. I have a handful of various 18650s. Known really good high-discharge cells, some ordinary ones, old power tool battery pack, "Eh, may as well see if I can salvage any of these..."Just buy this thing!Say goodbye to slowly charging cells 2-at-a-time (with no guarantee the cells even charge) (or that the charger even really works) and inspecting them one at a time with your multimeter. Say goodbye to wondering if the battery died because it's bad or because there's a parasitic drain from your Amazon special LED flashlight.Say HELLO to an easy-to-read backlit readout with realtime voltage and mah. HELLO to multiple functions, like the discharge test and the "store" mode that sets your batteries' voltage to 3.7 exact. Yeah, the additional modes are only on 4 slots. I don't know, get 2 or 3 of these bad boys. 5 stars!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Barely functional and charges 2 to 3 batteries, before tapping out.
XTAR VC8 is pure crap. I bought this to charge 6 to 8 batteries Li-ion small 10440 AAA sized 3.7V 350mAH batteries. IF it even charges four at the same time fully I would be happy, but it is a struggle with 3. You put in more than 2 batteries, and add another one it will instantly claim one battery is full or change the mA or voltage of the battery and start over or claim it is full, even not recognize the battery is there and remain blank. You have to space them apart and play musical chairs scenario will batteries trying random spots to charge 3. Put in more than 5 batteries, it will randomly change specs again and not charge some locations. Before someone claims it needs a stronger charger, I put one two of my strongest charger adapters that are 24W and 60W rated. This is the second xtar unit I purchased and the original 4 unit charger wasn't great , and now relegated as backup to charge NiMH batteries. I bought an EBL 4 bay unit the same time that is 1/3 the size and does a better job more consistent. I should've bought two of those at $13 a piece.

I order 3 sets
I have run 2 the three units for over a week, and one for close to a week none stop around the clock on the battery issues shown below with AmazonBasic batteries. My Q-charges were running 8-9 volts and some times 5 volts.=====================================================================================I Order 3 sets or a total of 48 batteries AA AmazonBasics 3 failed under 700mAh & 6 1800mAh out of 48 AA bats. I charged and discharged them with an 8 Slots Battery Charger XTAR VC8 Charger. I also purchased 3 x XTAR VC8, 3 x AA-16ea and 3 x AAA-12ea, 3 x C-Cell-4ea and 3 x D-Cell-4ea. Plus 6 sets of Duracell 2500 mAhx 4 AA batteries and chargers. A totls of 124 batteries being charged and discharged many times each.Testing all of these batteries and retesting the weak ones several discharge cycles takes about a week. So 9 Kess than 2000 mAh with 3 of them under 700 mAh. This equaled out to having the average of each box of AA batteries having 1 under 700 and 2 under 1800.However, the AAA batteries all check out within 50 mAh of 200 or over.

Not easy to read, and no battery balance.
Good built quality, usb-c cable (charging block is not included), it charges the batteries but doesn't stop at nominal charge level and there's no way to set it, plus doesn't show how many amps (milliamps) have been or are present on the battery, only shows voltage which sometimes goes a bit over like i mentioned without a way to set it, don't expect it to balance the charge accross the batteries unfortunately, some will be full at 3.9v meanwhile some other will be full at 4.3 volts. If you're just charging batteries for flashlights or something small it's good enough, but don't rely on it to recharge individual cells for a battery bank or anything requiring balanced charge.
