An external USB adapter for M.2 SATA drives.
The price and limited interface options with the usual external SSDs led me to build one instead. Yes, the physical end result is a bit larger versus a dedicated drive, but it's still smaller than using a 2.5" drive enclosure.Do note that this only works with M.2 drives with a SATA interface; PCI-e/ NVMe drives will NOT work. Instructions aren't included, but a screwdriver and extra screws are.Good build quality at an affordable price. That's 5 stars.

Simple, useful, did precisely what I needed.
I was doing a customer upgrade and needed a housing to permit drive cloning. This did exactly that.

Tricky To Open, but Great Value
The product comes without instructions. After removing the screws on the side with the connecting port, the cover didn't just open like other enclosures I've used. I finally was able to open it by plugging in the enclosed USB cable, then wiggling it gently to pry the cover loose, then pull the board out. Other than this, I'm very pleased with the purchase. The enclosure is made of metal. Good build quality for the price.

Missing the plate that holds the drive in
Might have worked nice if it had all of the parts. Putting a sticker with the word 'new' on the box doesn't make something new. Obviously, someone had this before me and didn't return all of the parts.

Inexpensive and Decent quality
These enclosures have aluminum casing, comes with no instructions , you got to figure it out using YouTube videos. Runs cool with Samsung Evo 860 M.2 Sata.

Great product - easy to assemble
This is a great way to turn a spare M.2 SSD into a portable SSD. Better and safer storage than a flash drive. It took all of a few minutes to put it together.1. Remove the 2 screws on the side with the port2. slide off the endcap and remove the board3. remove the mounting screw from the board4. mount the SSD5. insert the board and screw in the end cap

Super Cheap Quality
Bought this thinking it looked sturdy. When I got it in hand, it was super flimsy and the screws weren't tightening all the way. Had to return it cause I was looking for something that was gonna last me a while. This might be great for like one time use or short usages, but if you want something that'll hold your drive, get something more sturdy

Works great but feels cheap
I got this when I was in a bind over a laptop that failed. The laptop had some data that I needed to retrieve and I was looking for a fast and easy way to get the data back. And it worked perfectly for that emergency use and was worth the money to get the data I needed. But if I were to use this long term or need to travel around with it I would be pretty concerned over it's build quality and how long it would last. But it is pretty cheap so it's hard to say it's not worth it.

Impressive quality in a fast enclosure
I don't usually write reviews because if I did for all items I buy online, I'd have to allocate about 2 hours per day to write them. However, for this enclosure, I feel that spending the time is worth it. The enclosure is very well made with a clever design. Once you install the M.2 stick drive onto the enclosure board, you seal up the enclosure with 2 screws on either side of the USB C port. The clever part is that an adhesive black cover that is precisely cut, fits over the entire end where the screws and USB C port are, making the look very, very clean. The small aluminum (!) end panel is so precisely cut that it snaps into place and the adhesive will keep it there. Keep in mind that if you do this, it will be difficult to remove the end panel due to there being hardly any gap to pry it off, so you may want to avoid doing this if you intend on putting another M.2 drive inside later on. But with the very low price of this enclosure, just buy another one. I failed to mention another clever part: the way the M.2 drive attaches to the enclosure board isn't with a screw that screws through the drive and into the board below (which puts pressure on the M.2 drive itself at this hole) but with a removable "holder" made of metal that has a notch in it. You unscrew this metal "holder" by holding and unscrewing it from behind and then put it where the hole of your drive will be (by default is at the 60 mm mark and most M.2 drives are 80 mm long) and put the M.2 drive's edge into the "holder" notch and screw it back in. The notch is precisely cut allowing the M.2 drive to stay in place without rattling but puts no pressure on the drive itself. Clever. I tested the speeds and they seemed pretty good. You lose some speed when the M.2 drive is not attached directly to the SATA interface in your laptop (most SATA based M.2 drives, if not all, will come from laptops) but it is still very fast (80-90% of what it was when it was attached to the internal SATA port). Temperatures were also very impressive. I had one small spot at one long edge that hit as high as 42.6 Celsius after a lengthy format and speed test. Every other spot was lower in temperature. Finally, this feels very solid in hand and looks like it could take a bit of abuse. I am not a shill for the seller, but every so often I feel like I definitely got my money's worth and more (in this case) and thought I'd spend the time to write this up. Great product!

Good value
The item comes with 4 screws (2 spare) which is good because one of the screws had no thread on it. Appears identical to one selling for twice the price except for the little black label which covers the screws and the logo. (I have both).

Comes with USB C to USB 3 cable. First one was missing screws
This adapter works ok, although it only comes with a USB 3 adapting cable, so if you want full speed you will need a USB C - USB C cable of your own. It is fantastic if you only have USB 3 ports on your computer.Cloning the computer's SSD went so fast that it took longer to write this review than to clone the drive. If your computer came with a silly little 128GB boot drive and you want to swap it for a useful 1TB - this is a great choice.Note the internal attachment for the end SSD is non-standard (using a collar with a groove instead of a screw to secure it). It is a nice design but it took an unnecessarily long time to figure out because there was no documentation whatsoever with this product.Note: The first one was missing the bevel head machine screws. The detailed package contents picture on the product description shows that the screws are missing, even though the picture of the device clearly shows the screws. They refunded it AND sent a replacement (with the screws), so excellent dealing with the issue. I have edited my review to reflect this but it would be nice if there was an easier way to contact the supplier than complaining publicly in a review or just requesting a refund from Amazon..
