Terrific for beginners , amateurs, or on a budget!
Bought this set for grandchildren (3-12 yrs) to paint alongside with me to give them experience with nice watercolor paints, but not at professional grade prices. Great value. Most of the paints apply beautifully, especially properly diluted with water. There are a few that are uneven; but for the price point, a win all around. I used the Patikil 36 palette which was easy to put all the paints in, and still be travel-sized. Color wheel in the picture shows most, not all, of the pigments which represent well the color spectrum. The paint is better than other student grade paints and deserves to advertise for amateurs. A bonus was each tube clearly identified the pigment numbers, which I used on my chart to help the kids learn. Some of the pigments are staining- as to be expected- so the littles get much supervision when I let them use these paints.

Lots of great colors
I am a new painter so I may not be the most expert of voices, but I use Daniel Smith, almost exclusively. A few of my Windsor & Newton cotman can occasionally sneak in when called upon, from my very first beginner days, but otherwise DS is what Iโve used daily for the past 5 months. These were such a great deal, on sale from there $37.99 at the time of this review, I took a chance on them. I was worried if they might be really chalky or lightly pigmented where Iโd have to do layers to build up the color, but to my surprise, there isnโt a whole lot of difference in these and my professional paints!! Watched right next to each other you could possibly pick them out with a trained eye, but in a painting, I feel youโd be hard pressed to discern which paints were used in which paintings. Thereโs a wide range of colors and whatever color isnโt provided already I can easily mix up. Thereโs an especially great selection of yellows going in to the ochres and raw sienna. These have a nice creamy texture and mix well with each other as well as my DS professionals. If you love color and would like some nice convenience colors, give these a try! Theyโre a great value (at barely over $1/tube) and the quality is really up there! I hope this helps anyone whoโs on the fence or wondering if these are worth it since they may be considered โcheapโ quality due to the price point, but I can happily say that isnโt the case here. These arenโt dollar store type watercolors. Thank goodness. Happy painting!๐จ๐๏ธ

nice but not for travel use
I really enjoy working with this paint. The colors are vibrant and this set comes with a good variety of colors. The tubes are pretty small but each tube filled to half pans with a little left over in each tube that I held in reserve for when I want to use wet paint straight from the tube. the colors are vivid, easy to work and mix and well pigmented. I think this is a good value for the price with one warning to potential buyers. Several of the colors in this set never really completely dry. If you plan to pour these into pans to dry out for use in a travel palette some colors will never completely dry. I first set up a 24 color travel palette with these paints closed it up then went on a work trip for a week, when I got back that weekend ready to paint I opened up the palette many of the colors were still runny. Some were dried hard into a neat cake, some were cake like with a tacky surface, and a few were about the consistency of honey (in particular I remember this being the case with the Naples Yellow). I opened the palette up to let it air dry for 2 days and all the colors dried hard without cracking although a few colors will still slightly tacky but not tacky enough to stain a piece of paper, so i made a swatch card let all the paints dry again and closed everything up again. another two days later some of the pans had gone soft again and stained my swatch card. So something about closing the lid on this paint causes it to rehydrate and soften. the only way to keep it dry is to store it with the lid open which is not really practical for me. I don't have this issue with any of my other paints but I am fairly new to painting , so maybe its fairly common and I was just unaware. either way this doesn't work for me when it comes to travel palettes because I often toss them in a bag and go so if it is in the bag upside down i run the risk of the paint leaking or making a mess in my palette. So I would definitely continue to use this paint and I will likely buy them again. But I would limit their use to paining in studio and not for plein air or travel use.

affordable and great quality!
iโve known about these paints for quite some time, but with sooo many options on the market, i had a hard time picking which set i wanted. i ended up going with these tubes bc thereโs a good selection of single pigment colors and they are very vibrant! i put them in a palette and let them dry so i can reactivate them later. they do great in the palette and dried down completely unlike some other brands.

Paint away
Works well. Not a fortune. No worries about waste. Large selection of colors.

Missing One of the Colors
These paints are OK. Not exceptional, just OK. Also, my kit included TWO tubes of 266 Permanent Orange and did NOT include any 311 Vermillion. So packing is poor quality

Paul Rubens tube paints
First time using tubes. Used to pans. Colors are intense. Takes very little. Barely squeet metal tube close to pallette so you don't swuirt out toothpaste. Tiny drops will harden over. Think it will last long time.

Good value
Great product - one of my first watercolours aside a 12-pan set (also Paul Rubens). Good quality, reasonable price considering the range of colours. Would recommend.

Binder separation in some colours
Some of the paints had binder that were completely separated from the pigment
