The Best book I have read
I enjoyed every single bit of it because it’s very romantic and drama lysed. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves romance and drama.

Cute, fun and plenty of YA angst!
I'm really enjoying these Rules of Love books! I've already read book #3 as well. I couldn't help myself. They are just so much fun. Yes, they're YA and I'm a grown woman. But I just can't help reading these fun, lighthearted and very sweet stories about young love and teens figuring out life and how to navigate through the craziness of those years. If you're a YA lover, I highly recommend this series. They can be read in any order and bring hours of enjoyment! ;-)Do you remember your first crush? What about your first "sworn enemy?" I definitely remember several of my first crushes. Ha! Young love at preschool and on the elementary school ground. *.*I don't think I really had a sworn enemy though, a couple girls that I didn't quite mesh with but more so on their part than mine. But I think that's the same with everyone in life, trying to navigate friendships, relationships, struggles, school, work, everything.Penny thinks she's doing pretty well and life is going swimmingly. Until the moment when it all changes. How did her life get so messed up and complicated. Definitely the moment when Cade came into it. Well, maybe not the moment back in Junior High with his comment and teasing, but the moment in high school where she's asked to help him with his school work. Yep, definitely then. Now she's running moment to moment trying to figure out her feelings, her life and friendships. The author knows how to write some cute YA scenes and mix in plenty of angst and drama. It can't be YA without all of the angst and drama right? I love it! Penny and Cade were fun characters to watch them realize that what they thought wasn't quite what was real. I loved the flirty banter and sweet/tender moments. Not sweet and tender necessarily in a romantic sense but in a friend being there for another friend in a moment of need.Grab a copy, or one of each of the three books in the series and have fun! My teenage daughters and preteen have been listening to these with me or reading them and have enjoyed them as well.Content: Clean. Some kissing, the couple fall asleep together after a late night talking, nothing sexual happens. There is talk about divorce, jail and broken families, and how the characters navigate those different circumstances. I thought it was written in a great way but if those are sensitive topics for you, now you know that this books discusses them.Happy Reading!!!

I got frustrated with the lead female. But it was more realistic
So, I began by liking both the main characters because clearly there was more to him than she could see. But around 2/3 of the way through I got so frustrated at Penny that I threw my device on the couch and walked away for a while. After having read the book though, I can see how her seeming idiocy actually lends more humanity and realism to her character. Cade’s reaction to her behaviour was similarly real and unforced. Worth the read.

Cute, clean but could be a little more filled out story
Content: clean (there is alcohol and comments about affairs- but no sex or talk of it)Ending: standalone HEAWhile I wanted to love this book, I just didn’t. It fell short for me. I liked the characters and the plot line, but I felt like there were missing conversations and not everything was resolved. I like that it is first person narrative but I also wish Cade communicated his thoughts to her better. Since we were left guessing. Like part of me wondered how long has he liked her, is that why he nicknamed her chocolate Milk because of a crush? What were some of his impressions of her? This could add depth and detail to the story. Another is why did his mom not like her? What about her mom? Where is the depth and story there, and her sister?? And there’s is more- I guess what I mean is that I like the story and it was good writing- but a few more things could make it great.

A sweet young adult romance
This was a sweet story. The book is from Penny's point of view. She is a teenager that seems to have everything going right for her, until it doesn't. Penny had a lot of growing to do as she struggles with circumstances in her life. I like that she learns to think of others in her journey to discover herself. Cade is a strong character that seems like a troublemaker, but he has a compassion that comes through in the story. Overall, the story was sweet and moved forward. I recommend to teens that love romance and are trying to find their way.

Not a super typical love story
It was actually really cute! I ordered it expecting a cheesy story that has no development but to my surprise it actually did have a lot development with the characters and there story. I would recommend this to my friends.

enjoyed it but there were a few things in the story that bugged me as didn't make sense
So I really liked this book, but there were a few things that bugged me a little about it.I really liked both the main characters. Penny comes from the rich side of town and does well in school and is a straight-A student on her way to college to study to become a lawyer.Cade is from the poor side of town and has been getting himself in trouble with the law. Now a judge has given him a last chance to get his life back on track. This is where Penny steps in. The Principle has asked her to help Cade get his grades up. I liked the fact that Cade wasn't actually a bad guy, he had just fallen in with the wrong crowd after some problems at home. For a little bit of back info, Penny hates Cade. In Junior High he had everyone call her Chocolate Milk after a chocolate milkshake accident, and she has hated him ever since. I thought as I was going through the book that I would hear more stories of Cade teasing Penny throughout the school to back up her hatred of him, but there was no more than the chocolate milk stuff.I feel that there could have been more added to make this more understandable for the level of hatred she explains she has for him. At one point in the book, she explains that Cade "tortured" her throughout school. But again this is only in relation to the chocolate milk incident, and I just felt it wasn't a good enough reason for her level of hatred for him and for the number of times she brings it up.I know something like that would be embarrassing, but for the type of character she is, it just seems she would have gotten over it now.The female 'villain' in the book would have to be Tiffanii. She is part of the gang that Cade got into trouble with, and also a sort-of ex-girlfriend. I found her a little confusing. Our first introduction to her is at the diner where Cade works and they kiss, but then he tells Penny he ended it with her but she isn't getting the message. (eh? Stop kissing her!?)Tiffanii is actually really nasty to Penny but acts nice when Cade is around. I didn't fully understand this as this happens right from the start, so it isn't like she has to be nice to her to keep Cade happy. And even though she is horrible and to a point threatening to Penny, Penny still goes away with her at a party which I didn't think matched her character.I also feel that the book could have done with another proofread as the first time we meet Cade's mom she is introduced to us as Georgina, who is really nice and asked Penny to go easy on Cade as he has been through a lot. But then the next time we meet her a few chapters later her name is Joyce and she seems not to like Penny very much although it is never explained why her attitude towards Penny has changed and it isn't resolved.I would have loved for the book to have been longer and I felt there were enough characters and situations going to extend it. So some parts felt rushed and didn't always read smoothly. For example, after all the hatred she has for Cade, Penny has a crush on him before their first study session together. When they finally get together it's a Friday night and they break up before the weekend is over. I would have enjoyed reading more about them as a couple before the breakup/makeup stuff started.3Overall, I DID really enjoy this book and is one I would read again. It reminded me a lot of the movie Prom (just minus the Prom) so if you have seen that movie this is a book you might enjoy. There is an option at the start of this book to download one of the authors other books, which I have done so I would read more by this author.
