Amazon Basics Preventative Flea and Tick Topical Treatment for Cats (Over 1.5 lbs), Fast Acting and Long Lasting, 3 Count, Packaging May Vary

THIS PRODUCT UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT. Within minutes the fleas were dying and YES they are going to twitch,and flick and no they won’t like it,but that is the medication working and within a day we are down 80%. DEAD FLEAS. Now I see alot of people complaining “it don’t work & chemical burns” that is because you are either not applying it correctly,using the whole contents,or applying it directly to open wounds. YOU CANNOT APPLY ANY CHEMICAL TO ALREADY DAMAGED SKIN! If the area that is needing to be treated “shoulder blades” are affected,it is better to use at the nap of the neck. I always use at the nap of the neck because they can’t lick easily & it gets distributed evenly by your cat’s natural grooming. Drys within hours and then you can pet your cat as usual. So if used CORRECTLY and use the FULL AMOUNT per vial,you should have success. Treat each cat in your home as well. Do not vacuum-do not pick off fleas-do nothing until you see the fleas dead dead as all the fleas need to get iarounf the meds. If you vacuum or flick them off they will eventually get back to your cat and will not get the biggest dose of the treatment. Do not bathe your cat until you see No sign of fleas. And DO NOT OVER DOSE. One application is plenty enough. Order two boxes and write the date one month ahead to know when to give the next dose. 100% WORTH IT. My girls are feeling much better and more comfortable and I have noticed less scratching. Again your cat will go NUTS scratching and twitching because the fleas are DYING,they will be fine…..let them do what they do,it will calm down after a few hours. ANNDDD we have a major infestation from the humid summer we are having,so for me to come to write this review says alot. GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER….GET THIS ASAP.

Update: Product description didnt match product. This product is for kittens. I do believe it would work well for kittens, but did not for my 15lb Maine Coon. Called Amazon Customer Service and they resolved the issue. They are supposedly working on updating product description. THANK YOU, AMAZON! **** I applied the topical solution exactly as directed by parting his hair and putting it on his skin. There was no decline in the number of fleas after the first application. I decided yesterday to apply a second dose seeing as he is almost 15lbs. Zero decline in fleas and he's scratching constantly and meowing. He's an indoor cat that got out once. Bedding was treated and still this product has NOT worked for me. I would ask for a refund, but I've used two applications. Maybe I got a bad batch. IDK, but at this point, I would NOT recommend. ***See Update.

I want to like this because I have five cats and the price is unbeatable. I can't really evaluate the medicine itself because the application method is terrible. The vials are over sized cylindrical tubes with a small amount of liquid in the bottom. You have to cut the tips off, not snap, and the edges can be sharp and wide and need to be trimmed down. Unlike the brand they're copying they have an unnecessary amount of air in the tube so when you try to apply it quickly to the nape of the neck it shoots out like a blow dart and scares the cat. Furthermore the liquid comes out so quickly it's almost impossible to apply it properly on the skin and it winds up on the surface of the fur, drips down the neck and is dry and gone by the next day. No little oily spot for a few days like usual. All of my outside cats reacted the same way and none of them got their proper dose because of this. Normally with Frontline the cats freak out as soon as they feel the liquid touch their skin, which takes about one second. This blow dart air gun makes them freak out as soon as it's "shot" and therefore the crucial moment of skin contact is gone. Apparently this is one of those things that they will always remember. All of a sudden they're skittish anytime my hands are near their neck. This can be remedied if the manufacturer simply copied the Frontline vial or made a similar vial with much less air in it. I'm still trying to figure out how to modify these tubes to make them work better, adding a small vent hole may help, or maybe even use an eye dropper to apply the liquid instead.

This is the second time I purchased and apply it to our kitties. Neither time it work and the cats continued to have fleas, whether the same day or several days later. Bad to the point that instead of one month intervals we did it two weeks later. This product, although less expensive, is absolutely worthless.

Plain and simple it works as well as name brand at a large savings. One thing my cats appreciate (and so do I) is the small single dose size for all cats. My cats range from a 5 month old rescued kitten to and old and very large and heavy but not fat neutered male at eighteen pounds. He hated to sit still for the higher volume doses amazon used to sell for large cats, but he tolerates the quick squeeze and done of the new product. Both of my outdoor cats are sociable, don't mind going to the vet, but the older formula was hated. After I dosed them they would disappear for two days, and often one had slight hair loss at the application site. This newer product is a small dose, and although both cats took off after I treated them, they were both back in a few hours and as sociable as ever. No hair loss or apparent irritation on any of six cats, two outside and four inside. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Lasts about 2 weeks then the fleas are back.
