Great park flyer for begginner to intermediate level
Got this for my 11 yo son as a replacement for a 3-channel simpler plane which started falling apart after meeting the ground a few too many times. It has everything to start playing (RTF means ready-to-fly). It comes in a box in which you can carry it when you go to the field. It has one battery which lasts a few minutes, you can buy more if you want. The charger is USB and can only charge one battery. It is small enough that you can fly it on a football/baseball field. My backyard is not big enough though. My understanding that you don't have to be a member of AMA to be able to fly this (I think you do if you have much larger planes). It is sensitive to the wind but you can fly it as long as wind is not too strong; it's funny how you can make it stay still (relative to the ground) when flying against the wind. This plane has 4 RC channels: throttle; elevators (on the tail allowing you to raise or dip the nose), ailerons (on the wings to make it roll left or right and make the plane turn) and the rudder (on the tail making the nose move left or right to help with the turn).Having controlled ailerons allows you to make aileron roll (which turns out is different from barrel roll!) so you can't do that with 3-channel planes. The controls are very user-friendly, they offer 3 levels of complexity, there's a switch on the side of the controller. The simplest one is the most stable one but doesn't allow you to maneuver too much. So you can just make it ascend or descend and make very wide turns. Next one allows for more control of the plane while still providing some stabilization (the plane has sensors and a microcontroller onboard which makes adjustments to the appropriate control surfaces to keep the thing level). The most advanced level gives you full control over the thing and you can move control surfaces to the max.My son usually uses level 2, I used level 3 a few times and almost wrecked it so try to stick to level 2.I would say that this can even be a 1st RC plane, but you can also opt for a simpler and a cheaper one. This is the 3rd RC plane I own, I wrecked the 1st one very quickly and 2nd one is pretty badly damaged after all the falls. So it's probably better if this nicer plane is not your 1st.Its propeller snaps onto the motor so that if it smashes into the ground too hard, it comes off instead of breaking. I don't know if it helps or not, never had the propeller break before, but did lose one when it came off after hard landing and we couldn't find it in the grass. The toy comes with 2 spare propellers though. It is much more sturdy than it looks and feels, mostly because it doesn't fly very fast and we always fly it on a field so when it falls it's on the grass which provides a cushion. Still, after 1+ years, as my son got carried away with trying to do an immelmann, he slammed it into the ground at full speed and the wing completely broke. I will try to to repair it or even get a replacement wing, but I also ordered a new plane from the same company, P51, with similar controls but a bit faster and more difficult to control.

Where it all started
This is my first and only amazon review I've ever written. If you think you might want to sample RC airplanes, this is a great way to start. This airplane is very special to me. I bought it in July of 2020 as sort of a low-risk experiment to see whether I would enjoy flying an RC plane. It was quite challenging at first, but I practiced in a parking lot after work every single evening and got better and better. I probably put close to 1,000 flights on this wonderful little plane, and now it is more glue than foam. I've since built and flown all sorts of larger and more complicated aircraft, but it all started with this simple little yellow guy. This hobby has brought me so much joy, taught me so much, and has given me lifelong friends. If you are reading this and are on the fence whether or not this might be something you want to try... go on and give it a go. I'm so grateful I did.

Buyer beware.
Well it was fun for 2 minutes. Was flying great too for a low cost beginner plane. Hit the acrobat button, did a nice loop. Then all controls stopped responding. It then proceeded to fly off into the sunrise never to be seen again. It flew itself over a 500 acres forested parcel I don't own so I'm out $100 because the controller stopped responding. Super dissapointing and Amazon said they can't do anything. Can't figure out how to contact the seller so maybe they'll see this and reach out. I have nice planes but bought this as a trainer for my 12 year old. I was flying when it occurred and am very experienced. This was an actual defect.

Prime day 2022
After reading reviews I was scared to order this item, I debated on the more expensive item (worse reviews oddly) and I was scared to gift this item.I read the instructions which say you MUST perform certain actions prior to using AND each use. I tested it in my house so if it "flew away" it would be contained.2 days of flight and 0 issues with it flying away. I use it in a public park in a field what is probably about a an American sized football field. We stand in the middle and always have to throw it to launch it, grass is "too tall".The plane is great for what it is, 0 issues flying it. 100 percent happy with the purchase so far.My only issues:The prop should be a neon orange or yellow, not black. It will almost always come off when landing even on a perfect landing because the grass is "too thick". After flying the first day I thought about painting the prop or adding tape, after attempting it I realized it could throw the balance off. I Still MIGHT use a spray can to VERY lightly DUST the prop with an orange.Front landing wheels are useless and can absolutely come off. A second set should come with the item. After reading the reviews and attaching the wheels I contemplated just gluing them in or using a hot glue gun (probably better) but did not due to the fact the metal wire that connects them all could twist or bend and then you are "stuck" with this option.BIGGEST problem: Any questions asked are answered by seller requesting to "email" them. No. NO! I do NOT want to "email" you, wait for a reply, then go back and forth. Make a website where I can just buy replacement parts OR sell replacement items ON amazon where I bought your item. (< Best option) It all feels shady. LOTS of complaints about not being able to get replacement parts (landing gear)*SIDE NOTE: Charging cable is just that, a cable, no brick comes with it. Mine does NOT light up when charging like shown in another reviewers review. I also ordered the "frequently bought with" section and purchased the 5 port lipo charger (thank god because that actually lights up even though it SCREAMS of cheap Chinese junk. BUT the extra 2 batteries arrived a Prime order of a week later (remember when PRIME meant 2 actual days, not 2 weeks after?) which I knew ahead of time and reluctantly agreed to (amazon issue, not item issue) So today, July 21, 2022, eleven days after my sons birthday, the extra 2 batteries arrived. They were 3 times the width of the OEM batteries which means they can NOT fit.(This COULD be an amazon issue, not sure, I have to call and yell at them < Yes, yell) because as a PRIME member I expect "2 day shipping" and for years (MANY YEARS) have not received 2 day shipping. Its more of a "pay us money each month, we ship when we ship, and we also work with USPS which probably won't deliver your item the day they get it and too bad. BUT we include our HORRIBLE streaming service you can't even RATE, even thought we own IMDB and use IMDB ratings. So basically you are paying us for NO RESTOCKING FEE, not "Prime delivery" and not 2 day shipping.I will NEVER order from Best Buy because of their restocking fee and I will NEVER upgrade to their best buy geek squad just to get an Xbox Series whatever. I know I can order and cancel it. I don't care. I understand as a consumer I don't want to open a "new" item and see it has been used. I understand companies lose money because of this. I don't care, I don't shop at Best Buy and have not since 2000 because of a restocking fee. I expect the same from Amazon but will NOT pay for a service to avoid a "restocking fee" or horrible "streaming service". I'll go to Walmart where I can buy an item, no subscription required AND have a 90 return window vs NO return 3 day, 7 day, 14 day, or 30 day < Amazon window.
