Finally Had the Cup Of Coffee I've Been Wanting for So Long.
Very Happy. I love Colombian coffee. You can't find it in a light roast anymore. So I roasted my own. Roasted to City to City+. Bright, sweet, rich, nutty & chocolaty cup of coffee. Very balanced. Freshly roasted brewed coffee infused the house and makes it smell like a coffee shop. Good quality green beans as far as I can tell (All physically intact, consistent shape/size, clean smell--roasted coffee is fragrant and supremo size) but, I'm no expert. Differentiating between first and second crack is difficult. Continuous cracking between first and second into a Vienna roast. Toastmaster popcorn popper: city roast about 2:40, city+ at 3:00. Home roasting is fun. I can't stop smelling the fresh roasted coffee I made. It's addicting! (2/2015). Addt'l Info: Ordered direct from company for 2nd 5lb bag and got a less tasty bean batch; bags weren't marked with shelf date as Amazon beans are.

Delivers on what you expect from a Colombian
Update: I originally gave this 3 stars but after a few weeks it's growing on me. Granted it's not terribly distinctive, but we don't buy Colombian coffee for that reason. Quite mellow and nutty. If you like Colombian, you'll like this. ------------------------ Pleasant, but non-descript Colombian. This is the coffee I would pick to serve large crowd or a rookie coffee taster. It's "middle of the road" in just about every category. Nobody's going to tell you it's bad, and nobody will tell you it's great. I needed to increase the coffee/water ratio to get more flavor. Method: French Press Grind: Coarse Water/Coffee Ratio: 15:1 Roast: City

Low Grade Coffee
I would rather write a dozen 5 star reviews than a single 1 star review. Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC COLUMBIAN SUPREMO This is not Columbian Supremo. This is too easy to verify. Supremo and Excelso are sizes of beans. Supremo is the largest bean size at 6.75mm or larger. That’s 17/64 of an inch. Excelso is slightly smaller starting at 5.5 mm or 7/32 of an inch. These coffee beans were too small to be graded, ranging in size from 1-5 mm with many broken and deformed beans. . Uneven bean size translates into an uneven roast. I asked a friend and mentor with over forty years of roasting experience what he thought of these beans. He thought that they were a low comercial grade bean. Foot note: I also purchased the decaf sample pack. The Mexican decaf was of such low quality that I lack the words to describe it. It had more broken beans than whole beans. At least one quarter of the beans were just chips. There was even coffee dust if that was even possible. If you’ve ever roasted decaf in a fluid bed roaster, you know there’s no chaff. I had to empty the chaff basket after that roast. It wasn’t chaff. For a company to have as many good reviews as they do, they had to have been good. It’s disturbing that they could have gone from that to this. I am sorry that I had to write a negative review. I will NEVER buy from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC again. I suggest that you don’t either.

Good value for great coffee - in a weak bag
So, real quick; the last couple times the bag the coffee comes in gets a hole in it during shipping -- but it is shipped in a well sealed Amazon bag, so in the end its a small hassle, but I get all the coffee...it roasts beautifully and tastes what you expect from a great Columbian coffee. I most recently purchased Kenyan coffee. This is more elusive in roasting as it needs to be a lighter roast to bring out the fruity tones. I have settled on 5.5 minutes in the FreshRoast

Something has changed
This used to be an excellent product. But the last bag I ordered had a bunch of gravel (some rice-grain sized, some thumbnail sized) in it, and after roasting the flavor was meh. Too bad. Used to be awesome.

Makes great espresso for lattes
I use this coffee to make grande lattes and the result is excellent. I don't drink neat espresso but my guess is that this would not be balanced enough for most espresso drinkers' tastes, and it doesn't generate as thick a crema as other blends. However, the coffee works great in large milk drinks due to its powerful, chocolaty, non-acidic traits. It actually works better than other more expensive espresso blends I have tried, both green and roasted varieties. For instance, I prefer this coffee over my previous favorite - Sweet Maria's Liquid Amber espresso blend. Some notes on how I use it: I roast 12 oz batches in a Behmor roaster and cool just as the beans enter 2nd crack (about 20 minutes) to get a "full city+" result. I let the coffee sit for a day before either using it or freezing it in a glass jar. I use a Mazzer Mini E/A to grind it and a Profitec 700 to brew it. Brew temp is set to 200F and I extract about 36g of espresso in about 24 seconds thru 20g of coffee before adding 8 oz of steamed/expanded milk to fill a 16 oz container. Delicious!
