Rubbermaid Commercial Products Slim Jim Plastic Rectangular Recycling Bin/Trash Can with Venting Channels 23 Gal Blue for Kitchens/Classrooms/Offices/Back of House

I bought these bins for my local Mosque as our community is trying to increase our efforts to recycle, reduce waste, etc... We had nothing but trash cans before so I purchased 4 of these to disperse throughout our building. So far they have been sturdy enough and durable enough. We've not had them very long so I'm not sure how well they will hold up over time. They do say their are commercial products so I'm hoping they will be as sturdy and durable as they claim. The size is nice it's tall and slim so it can fit in many places but unfortunately the recycling symbol is only on the side. So when it's up against our other bins with the narrow side out many people don't see the symbol. If we turn it on it's side so that the long side is out with the symbol visible then it takes up a lot more unnecessary space.I only purchased the bins (we have limited funds and recycling bins have fallen towards the bottom of the list of necessities for many years) but as soon as more funds are available I want to purchase the covers which make it clear that bottles should go in the bins. Maybe it's just our Muslim community but people just do not listen (despite signs right over the bin about what you can and cannot throw in it) to what we say about putting recycling in the bins. Every day I find garbage in the bins (which we have to sort out) and recycling in the garbage. So if you can I highly recommend getting the appropriate lids (their almost the same price as the bins which I think is ridiculous) so that it makes it even more painfully obvious for the lazy to know what goes in the bin and makes it more difficult to put things that don't belong in them.I really believe that the recycling symbol should be on all sides but at a minimum one large and one small side so that it's obvious no matter which way it's used. The price on this bin is better than I found on similar bins locally by about $15 but I still feel the price was too high. $35 seems high for a trash bin. A regualar bin could be purchased for much less and had I found a blue one I might have just spray painted or put a vinyl decal on the bins to make them recycling bins. Unfortunate I did not find any bright blue trash bins at that time.They feature a cinch system that's supposed to make it easy to hold the bag in place but nobody ever seems to take advantage of it even after I pointed it out. I guess old habits die hard so I'm not holding out any hope of our cleaning crew making use of the feature but it seemed to work well enough when I tried it.I'm not sure how helpful the vent channels are... the bag didn't get stuck but the we haven't had much problem with that, perhaps because our recycling is generally filled with bottles and other lightweight trash items that it doesn't create as much of a suction.

We have both the 16 and 24 gallon one. We use the 24 gallon one for recycling cans. I like that it's slim. Black XL garbage bags fit well.

Very durable and high quality bin. Enough space to put in a few broken down boxes.

The cost is crazy but these are incredibly well made and very convenient. Needed something in our kitchen that would have good capacity but not take up a lot of floor space and this fits the bill

It’s a solid trash can that holds a lot and doesn’t take up much space. We went through many kitchen trash cans and our dog conquered every one of them except this one. We even had one with a lid that opened with a foot pedal and our dog figured it out within a week. We use Hefty 30 gallon bags with our Slim Jim. The bags fit great except they don’t reach the bottom of the trash can, so I made a 6 inch tall wood platform to put inside the trash can at the bottom. I also made a 12 inch wood platform to place the trash can on to get the top up higher so our long legged dog can’t grab anything out of the trash. That was six years ago and it’s been working great. We paid $30 for the Slim Jim back in 2020, but now it sells for over $50. We didn’t want a lid, but if you do it will cost you even more money. You might find it cheaper if you shop around at home improvement stores. I can see this trash can lasting 30 plus years indoors.

This is a good quality, sturdy trash can. I like the light gray color and it definitely has a good thickness. I am actually using it to store rakes/etc. in the garage vs. as a trash can. My one gripe is that this brand is so expensive compared to others. And it is a lot cheaper just picking up at a box store. I hope that means the quality is better, but hard to tell at this point!

I have looked for the perfect bin for recycle for years. These are THE BEST! They aren’t cheap, but they are sturdy and you will never need to replace them. They are thinner than round cans, but hold more and are an efficient use of space.

These slim recycling bins work well for us. The holes on the edges to tie in the bags aren't something that works with the bags we use, but other than that we really like these recycling bins that we use in a rental cottage.
