Hunting for Silence: 5 (Storm and Silence Saga)

I love this book series. With every book, it just keeps getting better 😍 I've already read the whole book series. But I wanted to re read them as I love the story so much, plus I really wanted to read Mr Ambrose POV chapters.

It is always fun going on an adventure with Miss Linton and Mr Ambrose... after five volumes and it is still as pleasurable to read as the first time. One of my favourite series for sure!

Look exactly like pictures and the book has a great feel when you are reading.

This 5th installment in the series take us back to the usual dynamics between Mr. Coldman Ambrose and Mr/Miss Linton. Though the humourous dialogues are still there, the novel lacks pace and is scarcely believable. For the entire series I've accepted such a behaviour as the one of Miss Linton, knowing it couldn't possibly have happened in the rigid Victorian society, unless you would have wanted to be outcasted by your own family and for you to end in a miserable condition. The adventures set in the first half of the novel fall flat, since we undoubtedly know who will win at the end. The bad guy, aka Lord Dalgliesh, is just a minor character and never really puts the protagonists at risk. I find it a big flaw of the entire plot. That is a shame, since I loved all the historical notes and accuracy of the various historical figures as well as the information about the daily lives of the people and their misconceptions, popular in the nineteenth century. The second part of the story is really really dragging, with so many wasted pages on secondary and uninteresting characters and their problems and dilemmas. Even the satisfactory conclusion cannot re-evaluate the whole novel, so poor in contents this time. I suggest to read this book only to the fans of the series, keeping in mind it certainly isn't as enjoyable as the first three novels.

Funny and spiffing! It's a vey captivating story and I couldn't stop turning pages. I recommend the series for summer holidays! Pity that Mr Ambrose didn't spend more money on proofreading, especially for French parts!
