Appalachian Trail Wall Map [in gift box] (National Geographic Reference Map) Map – January 28, 2016

It you are contemplating a hike on some or all of the AT, GET THIS MAP (and of course THE AT GUIDE BY DAVID MILLER).This map has meaningful detail. Distances between significant mileposts (chart)and elevations (down the right side). Plan where the going will be tough and where it will be less tough. I would give this map ten stars if I could.Spend some time with this map and David's book (also read his AWOL on the Appalachian Trail. It is daunting) and you will have a pretty good start on determining how much of the AT you wish to experience. None better for the overall evaluation.

Printed on high quality paper with good color saturation. Overall the map is what I expected. It gives you a good visual of the states the trail passes through and what part of the state. (east/west or middle etc.)I have the map hanging in my room for inspiration.The only downside is the scale required to shrink a 2000 mile trail onto a 48 inch map. I would recommed it as an educational or general reference map.

Great Map! I recommend this for anyone who loves the Appalachian Trail. Now I need to find a good frame for it! Only down side is that if you want to mark on the map in pen where you have been, it is not easily done. The map quality is good but the gloss finish prevents pens from working well on it (highlighters don't work with this).

Wonderful map, high quality, anyone who loves the AT will enjoy this map! I bought one for me and my boyfriend, laminated them, and he built us both frames to hang them up. We are using them to track our virtual miles hiked on the AT this year as a way to keep motivated to keep walking.

I bought this Map to keep track of my Fiance who is doing the AT. He started Feb. 16, 2014 and I've been able to see his progress. One feature I like is it.shows the elevations as well so I have an idea of what the next week will be like for him. I recommend the map to anyone who will be doing the trail and want something for family to be able to see. I took a picture of him in full gear before he left and cut it small and use it as a marker for his current location. Its great.

Clear detail, nice quality.

My brother just finished hiking the Appalachian Trail. Prior to his journey we took this map to Office Max to have it laminated so we could write on it and keep up with my brother. It has every little detail you need to know. Instead of "Where's Waldo" we played "Where's Shawn". :) Anyone planning to follow a loved one on their journey, this is a MUST have. Well worth the money. We hung it on our office door the 6 mos he was away. Great buy!

Hiking the application trail is a dream of a friend and I. This map is very detailed and great to have on the wall to view the potential trip ahead. Bought this item 2 times. Highly reccomeded. Shows miles between each point and the correct elevation markings along the way.

Lovely gift for family member who has undertaken part of this trail. Apparently this was a better, more detailed map than the ‘proper’ one !

Took awhile but pleased with the map

Was gibt es zu einer Karte zu sagen?Die Größe:1,22m * 0,46m+ Die Qualität des Druckes ist erstklassik.+ Schöne Details.+ Inhaltliche Fehler habe ich bisher nicht entdeckt.+ Höhenprofil des Gesamtenweges ist am rechten Rand schön dargestellt+ unten Rechts ist eine Entfernungstabelle vorhanden (Einheiten in Meilen und Kilometer)Mein Traum ist es den AT irgendwann mal zu laufen, die Karte erinnert einen immer wieder auf wundervolle Weise daran.Zur Planung ist sie für grobe Planungen vielleicht zu gebrauchen. Die einzelnen Berge und diverse Highlights entlang de Strecke sind gekennzeichnet. Aber viel mehr ist die Karte ein wunderschönes Deko Element.Für jeden der den AT faszinierend findet ein muss. Würde die Karte auf jedenfall immer wieder kaufen.Viel Spaß Euch damit.Eine Anmerkung für den Versand:Die Karte kann nicht an eine Packstation geliefert werden, auch wenn Amazon was anderes sagt. Meine Karte war lange unterwegs ehe sie den Weg zu mir gefunden hat.

Das Poster wurde geliefert wie angegeben und kam unbeschadet bei mir an. es kam zusammengerollt in einem extra Karton. Es ist super detailliert, mit Meilenangabe und hm. Auf Englischer Sprache was aber nicht wirklich schwer ist. Das Poster lässt sich ohne große Wellen and er Wand anbringen.

Die Karte kam sicher verpackt und schnell an.Sie ist sehr detailreich. Neben Städten (und Dörfern), Straßen, Bergen und Flüssen sind auch die für den AT typischen Shelter eingezeichnet.Somit kann man auf der Karte sogar seine einzelnen Tagesetappen rekonstruieren, sofern man an den Sheltern war.Um die Karte zur Planung zu benutzen ist sie dann aber doch etwas zu groß skalliert...naja ich habe sie als Erinnerung gekauft und dafür ist sie perfekt!
