Dorman 603-001 Universal Fluid Reservoir with Cap

I bought this Dorman universal reservoir in a different size than another one I tried. This version doesn’t come with all the mounting hardware, tubing, and other accessories, which is actually fine with me because I didn’t need any of that for my application. The quality of the tank itself is excellent. The cut and finish are very clean, and I really don’t have any complaints about the construction. This is a universal tank, so obviously you’re going to have to figure out your own mounting and plumbing depending on what you’re using it for. The only reason I didn’t use this particular tank is that the size wasn’t right for my application. That’s not really a problem with the product, just a matter of getting the right size. This particular tank has basically one hose connection on the bottom and doesn’t have additional hose nipples elsewhere. I actually like the fact that it has several nice flat surfaces because it gives you plenty of options if you need to modify it. For example, you can install a bulkhead fitting through one of the flat areas. I’ve done that with another Dorman tank and it worked extremely well and sealed great. You could also add another hose nipple by plastic welding it onto the tank without much difficulty. The tank is made from HDPE, so it can be heat welded if you need to make modifications. That’s a nice feature for a universal reservoir because you’re not limited to the connections that come molded into the tank. Overall, I have no real complaints about this tank. The construction and finishing are very good, the molded connection is clean, and there are plenty of flat surfaces for adding your own fittings or connections. It simply wasn’t the right size for what I was doing. If this size works for your application, I think it’s a very good universal reservoir, especially if you’re comfortable making your own mounting and plumbing modifications.

Well made antifreeze tank. I purchased it for my John Deere tractor and it's made better than the factory tank. John Deere wanted $60 for a replacement tank. I saved alot of money and got a better tank.....

Seems to be a well made product, but this universal item does not fit my car

Bought this as a replacement tank for a commercial mower. I wasn't about to spend $66.00 at the dealer for a plastic tank. Was not a direct fit, but I made it work with two new drilled holes and some self tap screws. Works like a charm. The hose hookup is on the bottom, I blocked it off and drilled a hole on top so I could us the old hose setup. It does the job.
