Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE 7 Cert Guide: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (EX200 and EX300) (Certification Guide) [van Vugt, Sander] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE 7 Cert Guide: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (EX200 and EX300) (Certification Guide) Review: I passed RHCSA using this guide - Excellent guide that will take you over the finish line. I recently passed RHCSA using this guide and I love both how book is organized and how material is presented. Sander will help you make that leap from a Linux enthusiast to a confident system administrator. Delivery of facts is concise and perspective is given exactly where needed, there's almost no fluff, it's all instructions but not authoritarian and dry. I like how much emphasis is given to making the material memorable to the candidate. There's a quiz BEFORE the start of a chapter, and quite a few exercises and quizzes AFTER the end of chapter. Keep the DVD that comes with the book, it's a great accompaniment to the book itself. Make sure you register the book with the publisher to be able to access the extra content online, which is basically the DVD itself only online. Great if your machine doesn't have a DVD drive. Of particular help were howtos on server setup against which you can test how much you know about setting up your client to authenticate to those servers. You can set those servers yourself in a virtual machine and this guide has a howto on setting the server up, or you could also use an already configured virtual machine (that is also provided on the DVD that comes with this guide) and import it into your hypervisor of choice (mine was VirtualBox, Sander recommends VMWare product). I did not attend the official Red Hat course and this guide was not the only resource I used to study for the exam. I also took the RHCSA course on Linux Academy and went through most of tutorials found on Cert Depot. Review: Great value. Helpful step-by-step exercises and additional video content. - I like this book a lot! I don’t have much experience with Linux, and I like how the step-by-step exercises guide me through procedures that are new for me. I also like the additional contents, in particular the virtual machines that allow to get an environment up and running in not too much time. The virtual machines do work, but you should know how to import them in your Vmware environment. The author explains this in one of the videos on his youtube channel. To be honest: I’m using the authors RHCSA Live lessons video course as well. Together they make a perfect combination for me to prepare myself for RHCSA certification very well. Much MUCH cheaper than following a classroom course. And I am not sure if should say this in the open but I contacted the author for a specific question which replied to within a few hours. So coooool :))

Worthwhile Cert Guide
I bought the book on pre-sale therefore the content was a work in progress of which I had to also buy the pdf version(for extra sample exams) via discount code from hardcover. Topics are nicely covered except I had to re-download the updated pdf version whereby most stuff is properly covered especially kerberos authentication in relation to nfs. Overall a worthwhile investment in relation to exams & as a reference.

Great preparation for Certification, prefect for looking up items not daily used. Recommened!
Great delivery with Amazon, faster as expected I got the great guide delivered to my door. As UNIX/Lnux professional (15 years Sun/AIX from origin) naturally got into the Linux playing fields. Always work and needed a efficient way to add to my knowledge what is needed for the RHCSA and RHCE Certifications. As I already have my RHCSA on RHEL6 reading up on known parts refreshed my memory and gave good insights on the new parts of RHEL7, needed to make sure I can start the RHCE Certification Exams. Previously used the J. books but this one is more to the (Certification) point but also can be used later to look up items not used in daily operations. Some small first print issues but publisher reassures me they have fixed. Great set of test images (yes you need te tweak the network settings to make them work in your Virtual environment, but you should be able to do that. -Or maybe skip ahead a little and learn from the chapters later on how to do that) and Video content. Would recommend.

Perfect, detailed and well written certification book for the latest Red Hat Enterprise 7 release.
Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE 7 Cert Guide: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (EX200 and EX300) (Certification Guide) Perfect, detailed and well written cert. book for RHEL 7. Make sure you also keep an eye on the errata (http://www.pearsonitcertification.com/store/red-hat-rhcsa-rhce-7-cert-guide-red-hat-enterprise-9780789754059#bss5ee7e6a0-2896-4293-85db-a976142bac52). Using this book not only for certification preparation but also as a daily reference at work. This book can also help you to implement RHEL7 in current IT infrastructures. Added DVD with video lessons gives the feeling that you are actually on the course. I use the book to get ready for the certification but also learning new things about RHEL 7. Not so happy with the VM images, rather have them as a Virtualbox Appliance (OVA) but that is more a personal need.

Needs editing and working VMs
So far I've downloaded two version of the included VMware virts that are supposed to support this book. I've gotten the ones on the attached DVD and the ones from the website. Neither one has a configured and working IPA server nor are the supposed "included users" setup on the virtual machines as they say they are in the text. That was honestly the big draw to this book over the book I already had was the ability to practice just as I did in the rapid track class on virtual machines practicing the skills required not having to have the time to first learn how to setup IPA. Granted it's a skill I plan to master soon enough but I didn't want to have to learn it just to learn how to attach to an existing LDAP server... So far the book needs some serious editing and a second edition. Plenty of good information in there it's just not laid out very well and as mentioned before lots of grammatical errors, most of which can be forgiven if you have ever seen the author's videos and realize that english is likely a 2nd or 3rd language.

An officially recommended book to pass both exams. I passed successfully all of them, so would recommend to read this guide several times before go to an exam.
