The previous version's charging port was very finicky with different micro usb cables. is the gen 2 version easier to plug in?

Hello, A8-G4 and A5-G5 flashlights have been upgraded to the USB-C charging port and the metal button has solved the problem of the charging port and the plastic button. (2 year warranty)

Is there any way to confirm I have the nichia version besides the label on the box? i worry this may be a swap at Amazon, box arrived in bad shape!

The lights might look identical from the outside. But the light coming from the Nichia version will represent colors more accurately. If you have another LED light that does not have the high CRI led, you can try to compare the light quality. The colors from an LED that is not high CRI will seem colder and less vibrant. Other than that, I’m not sure... I’ll try to check mine later today and will report back if I can see anything distinguishing it from the regular version.

how much does it weigh? my friend has one (maybe earlier version) and says it's only .6oz (17g) but the specs say this is much heavier at 2.39 oz.

The light itself weighs 14.8g/0.52oz, with the pocket clip or keyring attached it will be heavier.
