No pool cleaner is perfect but...
The media could not be loaded. After reading literally hundreds of reviews, I purchased a cordless pool cleaner - it got 35 five star reviews on Amazon and none less than that! I was impressed. I turned off the pump so it wouldn't get stuck on the (raised) drain. It got stuck. It got stuck on the stairs as well. In both cases, it got free after some effort. The problem with these cordless cleaners is that they are power limited because of the battery and freeing itself gobbles up energy. The cleaner also struggled to get up the walls. Plan B was to purchase the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus with WiFi, based on the reviews. In choosing a cleaner I considered the size and shape of my pool because it became clear to me from the reviews that one size doesn't fit all, i.e., a great cleaner for one pool might be terrible for another. I have a lap pool that measures 45 x 7.5 feet, is about four feet deep throughout, and has stairs on one end. I have used the Nautilus CC Plus three times. My pool doesn't get a lot of leaves or debris so I don't need a large basket. The provided baskets are more than ample. My biggest problem is the junk that collects at the waterline so I had hopes that this robot would be helpful. The Frequently Asked Questions, included in the documentations, answered the question, "Does my Dolphin clean the waterline? Answer: The cleaner is designed to climb the walls, but does not reach the waterline". See attached video. This does exactly what I need it to do. Obviously, they need to hire a better marketing person. This robot does not get stuck over the raised drain with the pump running and drawing water from the pool. It climbs the steps (seems to love them) but will occasionally get stuck on a step or in a corner, but it releases itself, and because this is tethered you don't have to worry about draining a battery. It also has considerable power and thrust for climbing the walls and stairs due to it drawing current from the power supply. My only concern is the wear and tear on the paddles/fins, whatever, when it gets stuck as sometimes they keep spinning against my PebbleSheen surface before releasing. Time will tell. I have not been able to pair it with either my iPhone or iPad but I have contacted the company in hopes that they can solve the problem. If not, this is not a game changer for me. Finally, just put it in the water and walk away. I found myself getting stressed and yelling at it, "Why are you attacking the stairs? You haven't touched the other end of the pool? Why do you keep going over the same area?" I thought that this was supposed to be smart and map out the pool but it didn't appear to be doing anything intelligent. I finally went away and when I came back it had covered the whole pool and picked up everything. The robot does not have a memory so every cleaning is a new experience, like a goldfish doing a swim around the fishbowl and forgetting the last pass. Cleaning the filters is a breeze. See the photo of the debris that it picked up on its first use. You can spend a lot more for a pool robot but at this price I highly recommend this cleaner. Update: I have now had this robot for a while and am still very happy with it. The customer service has been excellent. After a few emails back and forth about the WiFi not working they decided to send a new power supply. That fixed the problem. With the Dolphin app on your phone you can turn the robot on and off and schedule it to clean every day or two other options. Unfortunately, you cannot control the robot. This would be useful as it did get stuck a couple of times, and rather than wait for it to free itself (it was taking a long time on the raised drain or step) I decided to free it manually. Perhaps in the future they might add more capability to the app so you could get the robot free without having to intervene manually. I would love to be able to tell it to reverse when it headed to my steps. In conclusion, I stand by my recommendation about the efficacy of the robot and now can add that they have great customer service. Update 7/24/24. The customer service person suggested that I moved the floats closer to the robot, which might alleviate the robot getting stuck on the stairs. I moved the closest one and this seems to have helped. I just purchased pleated filters, which are for finer debris and not included when you buy the robot. I was skeptical but I thought that I would try them. I first cleaned the pool with the filters that are supplied. Immediately afterwards I put the pleated filters in for another cleaning cycle. They picked up really fine material that the standard filter missed. When I rinsed the pleated filter it looked like mud was coming out of them. So these really work. I would not recommend using them without using the coarser filters first because some large particles get stuck in the pleats and not all of them will rinse out easily with a hose so you have to manually separate the pleat to get them out. That being said, there were only a few of these particles so it was no big deal. The robot continues to work very well. I always remove it from the pool when done as I've read that the robot and cable will deteriorate faster if you leave it in the water, however that's for a very long period of time so it's up to you if you want to leave it in the pool and have it come on a particular schedule.

Better than expected
I had tried almost every type of side suction cleaner, always a little frustrated with how much they got stuck and missed so many spots, so after my latest finally stopped working I decided to give this a try.I’ve had it for three days and it definitely exceeds expectations. It took less than 10 minutes to unpack, set and program the timer, and get started cleaning. After running 1 cycle each day I am surprised by how much of the pool it cleans. It gets 100% of the pool floor, about 90% of the walls, 60% of the waterline and about half the steps and ledge. There are a few places where I think it’s about to get stuck, but it always works its way out. Our pool is very irregularly shaped and considering that I was expecting no waterline and step cleaning, this is just amazing!I am glad we went with the corded and not the cordless because I like being able to drop it in and set the schedule and not worry about having to charge it. The cord has not ever gotten tangled and is no big deal.I have been using the included fine filters and am going to switch to the ultra fine because it is leaving behind a bit of fine dust and pollen. I kind of think the ultra fine should have been included, but that’s my only complaint.Overall this works great and I wish I had purchased it years ago.

UPDATED AGAIN review. Now down to one start - cannot recommend to anyone
Revising this review again. I now truly regret this purchase and wish I have never seen this thing. Here's the latest:It's about a year old at this point, still in warranty. So far we've had one power supply go bad. It took a long time to get a replacement because they were out of stock. I assume because so many of them fail. I just dropped off the whole system at UPS to ship for more warranty work. Now we get nothing but error messages saying that the controller can't communicate with the robot. After talking with support they decided I needed to send the whole thing in (at my considerable expense) to the repair center in Georgia, still under warranty. Here's the telling part: As soon as I walked into the UPS store with that huge box, the counter person said, "That's a pool robot, isn't it?". Says I, "Yes, how did you know?" Counter person, "Because we get a LOT of those." All Maytronics? "Yep". Don't get me wrong, when it works it works really well, but with two big problems still under warranty and the initial cost, I tell you that dumb, simple pressure side Polaris we got with the pool is looking hard to beat.Further update: Checking the UPS tracking told me it arrived at their facility 7 days ago, yet I've heard nothing so I contacted them for a status. Here is what I was told:"• I see that your unit was delivered on 9/25/24. The unit has not been received in the system yet. Receiving is one week behind due to a surge of units coming in needing repairs. The turnaround time is 2-3 weeks after being received in the system. We appreciate your patience during this time. Once repairs are completed the unit is shipped back to you and a tracking email is sent. They also send an email letting you know when the unit is received in the system."So their receiving is at least a week behind, and service is at least 2-3 weeks behind. Why? Because of the number of units that have had problems severe enough to require them to be sent in for service. To quote a friend of mine: " It's h*ll when it's well, but it's sick ALL the time!"Original revision:After having lived with it for about a year now, I'm revising my review.Performance-wise, it works very well and I'm happy with the job it does.HOWEVER:Slightly less than 12 months in, the power supply has completely failed and will not power up at all. Contacting customer support, they agreed to ship me a new power supply with almost no questions asked. In fact it was SO easy that now I'm thinking that Maytronics must already be aware that their power supplies are plagued with frequent failures, especially considering some verbiage I found on their web site about the process for dealing with power supply problems. Also, although the robot itself can be operated without an internet connection or with their app on a smart phone, most of the features are not available without one or both of these. For instance, you can't set up a cleaning schedule, you can't alter the type or the duration of the cleaning cycle, you can't manually "drive" the robot around, and you can't get feedback about the condition of the filters. Their default mode of operation requires an active internet and wifi connection as well as a connection to the Maytronics servers. It's possible to switch the robot to communicate with the phone app over bluetooth, but that option is somewhat hidden in the menus and even in that mode, it's not clear whether or not the system still communicates back to Maytronics. (I could find that out via a Wireshark trace but so far, I haven't cared enough to do that.)I'm still happy with how well it cleans, but the "other stuff" above is now more of a concern to me personally.Original review:We have a large-ish 40,000+ gallon poolLikes:Does a thorough job.Filters relatively easy to clean.Being attached to a cable as opposed to wireless may seem like a con, but it means the suction motors can be stronger and more powerful than they could be if it were 100% wireless which means it does a good job.Climbs/cleans walls and cleans the waterline very well.Dislikes:The Android app used to control it does not have an 'exit' function. You can dismiss the app by using the 'home' button on your phone but the app will continue to run in the background which means it's still consuming memory and battery (and possibly sending who knows what information back to the Maytronics servers). To completely exit the app and stop it, one has to use the phones "force stop" function. (This is probably true of all Dolphin robot cleaners). When I reported this behavior to tech support, they seemed unconcerned and not willing to fix it so now that I know, I always just force stop the app when I'm done.
