The best starter kit for Copperplate
The best starter kit for Copperplate , the only kit that contains the nibs that you can actually use, along with the straight pen holder and the tin storage nib container. I definitely would recommend it and purchase it again.

Inexpensive Elegance
I purchased two of these items and as an individual who is a fan of Spencerian and Copperplate; this item offers an inexpensive introduction to the art.Combined with YouTube's ability to feature artists in Spencerian Script or Copperplate Script; you can take your pen and dip, write and learn the tricks of the trade per se.Be it with regular Fountain Pen ink--my favorite is Sheaffer's and Waterman brands; or with more thicker ink offered by Speedball, which is designed for dip pens -- One can practice the letters on old envelopes, scrap paper and such; before writing on expensive tablets. With writing with flexible nibs; the art is really in the finger pressure you apply to the pen holder. Like a roller coaster--the gentle no pressure grip and then press down some; makes the two edges of the pen to separate, which gives you those thicker lines. Light touch--they give those really spider web thin lines; as to connect, flourish and apply a bit of flare to your normal written handwriting. With flex nibs; I highly recommend writing slower as the ink must feed from the little open hole (well) down to the nib. Gravity feed.I highly recommend this product due to the many nib choices you have to work with. The finer the nib, the more elegant the letters.

Excellent quality nibs
I have been using Speedball caligraphy nibs, and needed nibs with more flex for drawing. I was very happy with the Leonardt Copperplate & Shadow Pen Set from Manuscript, but one of the nibs didn't seem to work. I contacted them directly via email, and they cited a manufacturing defect (nib had no slit), and offered replacement, which I accepted. They exceeded their obligation and my expectations, providing additional nibs, including the Leonardt Dip Pen & Nibs which is a set specifically for drawing & mapping. I have been testing the Leonardt nibs on various papers and inks, and find them to be an excellent value.

Ok for a beginner
Okay for a beginner. Not the best, not the worst. Once washed they hold ink and write good enough for me to practice with. My handwriting isn't the best, so I got these to maybe improve it a bit. I tend to get in a hurry so with these you have to be slow and patient to get the results you want. The holder is okay, made of wood, but the nibs fit really tight, so care should be taken when inserting/removing a nib as not to damage it.

I don't know what I'm doing.
It's nice it has the box to keep all the nibs in. They're easy enough to put into the handle and take back out. Definitely read the instructions, which for someone like me who has never used a dip pen found them very helpful. The nibs have a nice variety in terms of flexibility and size, which I'm sure I'll develop a preference for in as to what works for me. All I gotta do is actually get good at using them.

Fabulous selection for dip pen enthusiasts
Good things DO come in small packages! I am greatly pleased with the variety of metal nibs in this Copperplate & Shadow Pen Set. Even the miniature tin (contains the tips when not in use) is pleasing to look at. The body of the pen is slender, but sturdy, and I find the length to be perfectly balanced for my average sized hands. I imagine that people with smaller hands, or larger hands will find it just as easy for them to use the pen without inducing hand strain while writing or sketching for extended periods of time...All things considered, I am immensely pleased with this product and would recommend it heartily to any dip pen enthusiast. Happy inking!

Not recommended. Better looking other nib sets.
Hi! Very disappointed. Low quality set & troubles. Copying Nib DP33 and Crown Nib DP41 Bronze have a bad start (no flow ink to the tip). Scroll NIB spills ink asynchronously, bad start and very short for the tank inks - this nib is mistake of a copperplate set, would be better to have a "blue pumpkin" DP40. This pen does not have one slot (left) - it is marriage. Point Nib DP111EF and Drawing nib 26580 - perfect nibs(excellent choice), but the Point Nib DP111EF had a rust :(. Pen holder also is low quality, I can't use it. Five of the six elements is defective - it is smaller than my understanding. Best regards.

Simple and comfortable Pen Set
Love this pen set. Wanted to buy for long time a pen set like I had in my childhood. I am a handwriting person and I like this style of pen. Is very comfortable to write with. The pen is simple, slick and thin, that is making easy to hold it. The nibs are good quality. Love this set.

Outstanding
I bought this to add to my calligraphy range of nibs for copperplate, glad I did because there was no flauts what so ever. Four of the nibs are for copperplate and one nib had a two spine writing style, it looked kinda cool. Well worth the money and like I say no flauts. I prepped the nibs with my spit for 10 seconds then wiped away, first dip just worked a dream. All the nibs did this and if you keep using the nibs more and more the nibs tips become smoother to write with. Get a set and start your journey today into copperplate.

Five Stars
Great for beginners. The smaller tips are a little harder to prep for their first use.
