Packed with expert advice from former Olympian Jeff Galloway and his wife Barbara, this book deals with everything from how to get started and keep motivated, to the process of fat deposition and burning. With its practical approach it will be perfect for women with a busy schedule. Review: Great for beginners, but also those who have been running for a while! - I am an avid Jeff Galloway follower, his run/walk combination has changed how I run and enjoy running. This is a great beginner book, but more so - a great reminder of the basics you should not forget! Review: Good book but too much alike Womens Guide to Running - I liked reading this book. it gave alot of good information. the only down side was that i bought it with Women's Complete Guide to Running and the two books had many identical pages. and by many i'd say atleast 30 pages were identical between the two. once i read the first i blew through the second because so many pages were the same. so my advice would be to only get one or the other not both.

The Nutrition side of running
I loved the book. I've been running for years but nothing more than a 10k. I bought this after sitting through one of Jeff's seminars so I knew what I was buying, but it gave me the one piece of running that I wasn't including into my program. I changed my diet up a bit and have found that it's made a huge difference in my performance. A beginner's book sure but it helped me immensely. As far as the "fat" comment...he's referring to unhealthy saturated fats not all fats.

Good Beginning
Information in book is very helpful for beginning runners. Seasoned runners already know most of the information contained in the book. It would have been nice if they had included actually recipes or daily suggested menues.

A little simplistic. Great for when you first start out or if you have a long way to go, but not so much if you're looking for something more scientific and detailed.

Information Within is Not Very Helpful for Women
This was my 2nd Jeff Galloway running book purchased. I thought it would be full of helpful information for female runners. I didn't find the book to be female-centric at all. The information was pretty basic.

This is a good book if you are a beginner
This is a good book if you are a beginner. Most of the information is basic, however it does make a good reference book.

Perfect for where I am and what I need to ...
Perfect for where I am and what I need to learn about running from somebody who knows my body better than men runners. Presented in just the right way I needed to hear it. Highly recommend it to lady runners just starting out like me!

Not for me, but could be a good introductory/motivational book
This may be a good book for you if you buy it for the right reason, but you need to read between the lines of the title, which should be: "A Motivational and Introductory Book About Weight Loss Through Running, Written for Women Who Have Minimal or No Involvement in Sports/Exercise". I am not being derogatory in any way - it may well be a good book if you fall into that category and for the price it would be worth giving it a try. A lot of the discussions are clearly aimed at motivating the reader and providing tips to keep you on track towards a fitness and weight loss goal when starting from a relatively sedentary state. However, if you have any moderate experience with running or are new to running but have experience with other sports, then you will surely feel that this book is too elementary. Given the title and authors, I thought it would provide more in-depth information and some advanced nutritional and training tips that would also apply to women who seek that balance of maintaining a goal weight and their general nutritional health while improving their running (intensity or distance). So it wasn't what I expected at all. I must also add that I found the layout quite annoying to read -- something about it made it difficult to quickly glean information and the sections seemed mixed up or not well defined in many places. Also, the clothing section seemed wonky: it was written as if rain, beating sun, falling snow or icy roads are never issues, only temperature. I gave my copy away to someone looking to get motivated and start running, so I'll try to update this review with her comments since she seems to be in the book's target audience...
