⚙️ Upgrade your Jeep’s backbone — no slip, all grip!
The Rough Country NP231 Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit transforms your Jeep’s NP231 transfer case by replacing the vulnerable slip yoke with a fixed yoke, dramatically improving off-road durability and driveline stability. Designed for 1997 and newer NP231 models on Jeep YJ, TJ, and XJ, this all-inclusive kit requires Rough Country’s Extended Travel Drive Shaft and prevents common failures like driveline vibration and rear output shaft breakage. Engineered for lifted Jeeps with larger tires, it’s backed by a Limited Lifetime Replacement Warranty, making it the ultimate upgrade for serious off-roaders.

Great value kit
The kit was well put together and every part fit as expected. It seems to be a quality kit and the fit and finish is nice. I had no problem installing the kit, the only down side is when it comes to the shifting fork. Depending on the year for you jeep, you will have to cut the longer portion of the shift fork rod so that the case will fit back onto the transfer case. The included instructions did not mention this fact, but if you look on Rough Country's website, it is detailed out. Once cut the case sealed back up and has been functioning fine. Do yourself a favor, and order a rebuild kit while you're in there. It is ease to do and since all the parts are indoor face, rebuild it.

Easy Install and Must for Lifted Jeeps
This is a must for any height lift . Don't bother with crossmember shims that do not correct the vibration after a Lift. I have an RC 2.5" Lift and the ride before this install was rough. I've tried correcting all the drivetrain angles but nothing helped. I managed to do this install without removing the NP231 Transfer case from the vehicle. I don't see any reason why you should. With all the youtube vids that I've watched . All had them remove it from the vehicle. Not necessary imo. Took me about 2 hours to remove and install. The ride now is back to stock non lifted jeep. I could not believe how smooth the ride is now. So don't waste your time on shims. Get this kit along with a new double cardan driveshaft and Enjoy the smooth ride again.

Great quality parts
Great quality parts in this kit and easy enough to install if you've watched a couple of YT videos. Its very important to note that because you're going from a slip yoke to a fixed yoke on the rear output you will need to order 4 yoke bolts to connect the new output yoke to your new driveshaft as they're not included in this kit, or with most new drive-shafts. Don't get caught short. They are the same size bolts that hold thr front driveshaft onto the front output yoke and cost about $15 for 4 on Amazon.

Fit perfect on my 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0
Get a NP231 Transfer Case Rebuild Kit while you're at it ;)Everything fit perfectly. Worth it if you have a 4" lift or more. Just remember you'll also need a new rear driveshaft and hey, while you're at it, just fork over the money for a new front driveshaft. I suggest Tom Woods. Rebuild the transfer case, install this SYE kit, then measure for your new driveshaft. Lots of YouTube videos out there. I followed JeepSolid because he has a 3-part video on rebuilding an NP231. And then a video on installing this SYE.
