Effective Aquarium Scraper without Scratching Glass
I bought an 18 inch Flipper Platinum Aquarium Algae Scraper to remove both green and stubborn red algae from my 20 gallon high aquarium. I chose this plastic scraper because I did not want to risk scratching the glass panels. This tool was very effective in removing all forms of algae. I was also able to apply enough pressure to remove the red algae in a couple of strokes. It was way more effective than magnetic scrapers available from other manufacturers. The handle is well designed to maintain a good grip during use. Purchasing hint: Make sure you order a scraper that is longer than your aquarium is high to keep the handle completely out of the water while in use.

Definitely beats my old algae scraper from the pet store!
I spent about 10 minutes doing a good scrubbing on my aquarium walls trying to get the excessive buildup of algae down and I was not disappointed! I love that it has two sides to deliver a proper scraping. The only downfall is that it is a little small, even for my 10 gallon aquarium. If it was a little longer it would be perfect! Anyway, I was very satisfied with its performance And felt like my aquarium looked a lot cleaner haha. It’s easy to use too, just scrape at the algae and it comes right off!

Great scraper
This is a very comfortable scraper and the slot is sized exactly to accommodate any credit card, which is great. There are no screws but it holds it snugly. It also does an excellent job of removing even the hardiest algae and can be used on both glass and acrylic tanks. The handle is very sturdy and does not bend when pressure is applied. I love it. The only thing I'd like is for the handle to be about 1.5" - 2" longer. Made my cleaning job much easier, definitely recommend!

Simple, safe and effective.
I saw some other tank scrapers on Amazon that were based on use of a single edged razor blade. While I imagine that they may be *slightly* more effective, I don't know about you, but I scrape the inside of my tank without first removing the fish. So... whipping a razor blade on a stick around the inside of your fish tank seems like a really bad idea to me. If you argued that this "Flipper" contraption is simply a well-made handle with a long extension for the "blank" credit card it comes with, you'd basically be right. On the other hand, it's sturdy, very well-made and works quite well. If you aren't worried about whatever soap residue or other chemicals are on your hands, and you aren't worried about what chemicals may be part of your old expired credit card's magnetic stripe or printing, you could just hold an old card in your hand and do the same thing free. I find that algae grows fast enough in my tank that I have scrape it once a week. So, while I wouldn't have minded if the Flipper had been a buck or two cheaper, I'm really comfortable with having purchased the Flipper. Last point: One reviewer complained that the card didn't always remove ALL of the algae with the very first scrape and that, sometimes they had to (gasp!) go back over a spot another time or two. If you feel that way, then use the dang razor blade. That issue aside, I've got to tell you that this thing is easy to use and I didn't find the effort required to be unreasonable in the slightest. (That other dude should probably give his fish away.)

Doesn't scrape the algae off that well.
I got the longest one and it reaches all sides of my aquarium just fine. It just doesn't scrape the algae off well. In the time it takes for me to go through each side and scrape repeatedly to finally remove all the algae off, I could have done it in less than a tenth of the time with a simple towel. Yeah my arms would get all wet and the Flipper prevents that, but it just doesn't work that well that it gets a bit frustrating to use. Maybe getting the metal blade attachment would make this a 5/5, but with the plastic it's a 3/5.

Waste of money
Completely ineffective and not an actual glass scraper. Don’t waste money.
