We replaced our decking, and rather than leave the 4x4 post tops exposed or cut at angles, this time we went with the small metal toppers. The problem is, they don't come with screws, and it's hard to find small black screws anywhere in the warehouse or even small the hardware stores.These worked PERFECTLY. They grip well and went in quick and easy. (On the 4x4 metal tops, their hole is slightly smaller, so we used an old screwdriver to widen them slightly; a drill could have worked too.)The end result is that they look like they were made for these caps. The little built-in washer makes the whole thing appear very professional.Hint: Don't use the "finer" Phillips screwdriver or tip. We used a "medium" Phillips on a power screwdriver and it was perfect. The finer tip will strip the screw just like any other screw, it doesn't have the right grip.
