I have used another vendor prior to this one, but this is by far much better quality and this brand produces a higher yield. I’m really surprised about the quality. The quality is consistent throughout the entire brick. Other brands there would be bricks that were nothing but a giant mat of strands and the rest would be more like coco peat, with so much ending up wasted. That was not at all the case with this brand. It was literally PERFECTION! That means perfect water retention without being soggy. I always rinse all my coco coir even when it says it’s been rinsed. It was so OBVIOUS this been RINSED multiple times, that I stopped halfway through and tossed the rest in my bin. Incredible buy for the price. I will buy again in the future and since the quality was so amazing, I’ll be looking to purchase other Nutrifield products

Expect this stuff to grow at least 3x the size. I mix it in with our soil and our crops have done better this year than in the last few years. Liked it enough I bought it twice

This is first time using this one piece brick of coco coir. I only wanted to hydrate a small amount for my potting-up project, so I used a reciprocating saw with a wood blade. It was required since the block was very compressed. It took-up the water like my previous experience with another product. It's practical to use this product instead of buying a huge bail of peat moss for transplanting young plants from the nursery or potting African Violet leaves. I recommend precutting the entire block into small sections so that it saves pulling out the saw.

I first bought this coco months ago. I've never baught coco before this .. I used it for soil mixes. Added some to my worms bin and Yada Yada.. when it was gone I ordered viagro 11 pound bricks from my local box store. I did this to try and save a few $. Right off the bat .. once hydrated I noticed a huge difference. The viagro had a very earthy smell and was so much darker. I also let some dry out to see if it was buffered. It was not. I've noticed buffered coco can have a white film when dried from buffering with calcium.. . Another difference was when you fluff Nutrifield your hands don't get dirty. You get small bits of coco on them but not dirt. You can rub the coco off with your hands and your hands are cleaner than before fluffing.. The viagro is like playing in dirt. Very dirty hands that need to be washed after.. . Just for fun I washed the viagro. The water was black. Not only that but there was a TON of sand in it. If you wash the NF the water isn't clear but is not opaque.. . Its tinged yellow brown. With absolutely no sand in it.. the biggest difference to me is the smell and feel of the coco. NF. is fluffier better quality coco that they wash and buffer.. They dont just say they wash it they wash it. They don't just say they buffer it they buffer it.. Not only that. It really is a reasonable price for the added work they do to sell a superior product.. . I think I "saved" 15 dollars on 2 big bricks going with viagro. Really I lost money because I'm not using it and bought another 2 bricks from Nutrifield.. . Nutrifield is proof that you can get a great coco for reasonable price. You don't have to spend $50 for a bag like some other name brands. You can get high quality from a brick. You just have to get it from Nutrifield

This is so compressed! You actually get so much more than you think. With 1 of these bricks, you could probably do over 50 10x20" trays of microgreens, easily. I did the math and this 11lb block, when wet and mixed up, can cover about 30 sq ft, 1 inch deep. The brick expands to over 6-7x it's size, when wet, so keep that in mind! In total, once wet, you'll have roughly 18–20 gallons of moist coco coir. Wow! Pro tip: You'll need to add 4-5 gallons of water to fully hydrate one 11lb block. Overall, I was super impressed with the size and density of the grind. It's not too coarse and stringy, and it's not too fine, either. You can bust up the brick, hydrate it, mix it up, and it'll immediately be ready for use. No cleaning or straining anything is needed!

I use this as part of the growing medium for orchids (with perlite and wood chips). I really appreciate the fact that it's PH balanced - I had previously used an unbalanced coir and almost lost some of my orchids. Don't use more than about a third of mix as coir.
