Good transition activity
Easy self correct book. Engaged my child when tv time was over. I consider it a transition activity as it hold her attention for 10 to 15mins at a time. Love that you can mute the sound. Pages are sturdy and difficult to rip.

This is cute and I love that, compared to say LeapStart
This is cute and I love that, compared to say LeapStart, I didn't have to download any audio/data - it was ready to go right out of the box (with some batteries, of course!). I was going to purchase a LeapFrog LeapStart, but the numerous frustrations I read about with downloading the audio/data pushed me away from what I thought would be a cool product. This seemed much easier to use. There will definitely be a learning curve with how it works, but I think it is a nice idea. Additionally, there are some questions written above, so these would need to be read to the youngster by a fluent reader so that the learning activity made sense. It's not like LeapStart, which I believe just speaks to you, so there may need to be some adult supervision/guidance.

4 year old tested and approved :)
Pros: Great images in the book Adorable pen "Ace" who your child will love Easy to follow instructions Cons: The Pen does not read the instructions If your child does not hit the dots in the middle ( if they just hit the outer edge) it will tell them it is wrong even if it is correct. My four year old really loves this, and I think most children would. I would recommend it for anyone with children who are in the 3-5 range, although five may be pushing it. My daughter found most of the content from the first book easy, the second book was a bit of a challenge. I appreciate that it has a nice range between difficult and easy content; because I don't want my daughter to feel discouraged, but I do want her to learn new things which is why I bought this in the first place.

Interactive and Engaging
These Hot Dots preschool books are a fantastic learning tool for young kids. The interactive pen makes it fun to practice early skills, and my child stays engaged longer than with regular workbooks. Great for building confidence and independence!

Low sound
Overall great product. Has sequencing, color matching, letters, etc. I would suggest placing the sound buttons in the back instead of the collar because they’re easily to touch causing the sound to go off and also the sound is low maybe it can be a little louder. My son just turned 3 and he loves it.

Great for learning letters and beyond
This has been the perfect learning tool for my 4 yr old son! He knows his capital letters, but has trouble with his lower case letters. There are a couple of sections that cover that and he's progressed a lot because of the book. I was pleasantly surprised to find that along with that are more difficult sections that he can work up to. I feel like this is a toy we can use for a long time. He is loving all the pictures in the books, learning his letters, and especially loves the silly noises that come from the dog pen. It takes a little coaching at first, but after he figures out a section he is able to do it independently. I've seen some negative reviews on the product, but it seems unrealistic to expect a toy to teach something to your child without some guidance. My 2 yr old son also loves the books and I can use them for teaching him words in general, because the pictures are great. Already recommended these to a friend!

Very happy with how they handled a refund that’s out of country. We got the exact same set for a birthday so we returned this one. These are fantastic learning tools for kids.
