Great enclosure. Solid and works well. Used this for a Samsung SSD drive. Installed the drive and my own back up software on the drive. No issues.

I've purchased two of these enclosures now and they both work great. Extremely easy to install a 2.5" SSD by just sliding it into the slot. Speed is good (and dependent on the SSD itself), and really it just works. It's a great way to repurpose an old drive, and cost effective given today's hard drive prices. Highly recommended!

Starting off, this is the best built/performing External USB-C 2.5" Enclosure I've ever used. I wasn't paid to write this review, I have just bought a second of these, and the material design, minimalist approach and quality of it's performance are what encouraged me to write this. First off, it comes packaged simply. It is easy to get into, easy to install a drive and overall, the easiest way to turn an internal 2.5" disk into an external performance drive. My specific needs for these were for external application, so choosing an external drive was worth it to me. Opening the cover, popping one drive out and putting a new drive in, takes seconds of time. No tools, no finicky buttons, just a gentle press on the triangle on the bottom, and it slides right off. It handles heat VERY well. On a 1 TB Enterprise Grade SSD connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port, transferring 910 GB (consistent push to the drive) it took less than an hour (wasn't paying attention) and wasn't "hot" to the touch over the course of the transfer. Yes, it was warm, but wasn't so hot that you couldn't touch it. That, and the speeds at which it transferred were NOT reduced over time, as some drives have done to me in the past. Overall, five stars for the product in all the areas that matter.

Overall this enclosure is made well, is easy to install, and provides expected speeds (except on Mac, read below). Pros: - Nice materials: Aluminum, soft touch plastic - Easy to install (no tools needed) - Meets expected speeds, mostly Cons: - A bit thick. I wish the inside top wasn't lined with plastic. If it was just aluminum making contact with the SSD, it would act as a heat spreader and save space. - Speed tests on mac were either really slow or fast (not sure if this is fault of the drive or Mac OS) Speed test: I tested the speed on both Windows 10 and Mac OS 11.4 Big Sur machines. The SSD installed is a 120GB Kingston UV400 rated up to 550 MB/s Read, and 350 MB/s Write. I formatted the drive using exFAT. On Windows I used CrystalDiskMark and on Mac I used AmorphousDiskMark. On my Windows desktop I did not have a USB-C port but I do have a USB 3.1 type A port and tested using a C to A 3.1 gen 2 cable. Speeds on Windows came in at 525 MB/s Read and MB/s 281 Write. When testing on Mac my initial speeds test came in around 35 MB/s Read on the included USB-C cable so I immediately knew something was wrong. After unplugging my Thunderbolt dock and re-testing, I was able to get 368 MB/s Read and 346 MB/s Write. However, subsequent tests and real-world tests using rsync showed tests falling back to ~30 MB/s. I also tested on other C-C cables including a thunderbolt 3 cable. Switching over to the C to A cable through my CalDigit dock brought the speeds back into the 300s. I'm not really sure what is going on, but the inconsistencies are tough to nail down and find a single culprit. This may explain why some reviewers are seeing fast speeds and others are not, on Mac OS. Overall I'm happy with the device assuming I can get proper speeds.

This enclosure works great for an HDD. USB 3 speeds, it's tool-less and the casing is tough.

I've started really taking a liking to UGREEN things recently. I got to review some of their docks and a few other cables, hubs, and such. I haven't had any problems with any of them. I needed an enclosure for my 4TB Samsung SATA SSD and saw this one that looked attractive, matching the theme that their other devices follow. I also liked that it inexpensive, although maybe a little pricier than some no-name generics but I believe it to be worth it. Disassembling and reassembling is literally just a slide and a snap. It is completely toolless. The only gripe I could say is that the description says the enclosure is aluminum. And it is... Partially. Only the top half of the shell is aluminum, with the bottom being just exposed black plastic. And even the aluminum outer shell is plastic lined. However, it doesn't feel cheap though, and to be perfectly honest I would buy another one. In the future I would ask UGREEN to use less plastic for drive enclosures. But besides that minor thing, I am very happy with the device.

These are great little drive enclosures. It's super easy to install the HDD and get up and running. Ignore the noice about "not really all aluminium so it won't dissipate the heat." It's true, the aluminium is on top of ABS plastic but the units are so small, heat dissipation shouldn't be an issue. Be aware, but I doubt it matters. The units look nice, they hold the HDD snugly, and they have some heft to them. The aluminium colour is well-matched to my Space Grey MacBook Pro. The ONLY thing I wish: shorter (0.5m/1ft) braided cables. That would make this perfect.

Ben SSD ve Mac Mini M2 ile 530 MB/saniye hızlarını aldım. Bu demek oluyor ki içinden çıkan kablo gerçekten 10 Gb/s hıza sahip. SSD'nin cihaza bağlandığı SATA 3 arayüzü ise 6 Gb/s hızla sınırlı olduğu için zaten 500-550 MB/s'i aşmamız fiziken mümkün değil. Fakat kullanılan Type-C kablosu 5 GB/s olsaydı muhtemelen transfer hızları 400-450 MB/s ile sınırlı kalırdı. 10Gb/s kablo kullanılmış olması 6 Gb/s 'lik SATA 3 limitine ulaşmanızı yani reelde 500 MB/s hızları aşmanızı sağlıyor. Malzeme kalitesi ise çok iyi. Gri kısmın gerçekte aluminyum olmadığını yazanlar olmuş.. Ama kesinlikle alüminyum. Üzerindeki dokulu kaplaması kafa karıştırabilir ama dokunduğunuzda soğukluğunu hissediyorsunuz zaten. Tıpkı alüminyum gibi elinizin ısısını emiyor. Fakat bu alüminyum SSD veya HDD ile direk temas halinde olmadığı için ısı dağıtımında ne kadar etki eder bilmem. İç kısım tamamen plastik ve bu aluminyum o plastiğin üzerinde kılıf gibi giydirilmiş halde. Daha çok dekoratif düşünülmüş. İçinden çıkan 50 cm kablo uzunluğu da yeterli. Ne çok kısa ne de çok uzun.

Case molto bello e ben rifinito, con Base in gomma dotata di piedini antiscivolo e parte superiore in alluminio molto molto ben rifinita e bella da vedere, inoltre dissipa l'eventuale calore del HDD. Interfaccia USB tipo C. La confezione comprende anche un cavetto lungo 50 cm con entrambi attacchi USB tipo C maschio. Questo cavetto non è particolarmente bello a confronto del case, ma fa la sua funzione. Ho inserito un SSD e ci sta perfettamente senza traballare trattenuto dai cuscinetti antiurto e funziona perfettamente. Il cassettino una volta chiuso è perfetto.
