Ceramic Knife Set, 2pc + Sheaths - Chef and Paring Knives with Black Mirror Finish Blades

Christmas gift for my husband who fell in love with an old Yoshi blade we got secondhand - he wanted to try the realm of ceramic knives.1 - The packaging is beautiful. Other reviewers have shown it. The sheathes are nice, the case is nice.2 - The feel of the knives are very nice, well-balanced like reasonable steel knives tend to be. We also bought a ceramic set from another manufacturer where the blades were almost as nice, but the balance couldn't compare to these.3 - I've heard that ceramic knives are notorious for chipping. The Yoshi I talked about above has a couple minor flaws because it's been well loved. This one . . . the smaller of the two knives pictured fell because I am a klutz and dropped it after washing it. It fell onto a Corelle plate point-down. I watched it fall in dilated-time, devastated because I'd just broken a knife my husband had instantly fallen in love with. The Corelle plate shattered into half a dozen pieces and the photo I've uploaded is all the damage that happened to the knife. The ballpoint pen is beside it to show the scale of how little damage the knife took.If the manufacturers of this blade come out with another set, we will purchase it, period. It outperforms the other two ceramic knife sets I've tried and, most importantly, makes my husband proud of the tools he uses to cook.Caveat: I use heavy steel chef knives for tougher duties like chopping up sweet potatoes and other very hard foods. I am still not familiar enough and comfortable enough with this set to feel like I dare take the larger of these blades to similar work to compare. What I can say is that all ceramic knives, and these two in particular, outperform the best steel knives I've used for medium-hard foods, like most produce.

The Ceramic knives are just as advertised. Highly polished black ceramic - very nice looking. Being ceramic they are extremely sharp and very nice to use. I use them for most everything whether chopping vegetables, fruit, etc. The chef knife is thicker than some other brands and therefore I believe will hold up better regarding sturdiness of use. The combination knife set is a very useful combination and the price is very good as well - a good value. The reason for the 4 stars vs. 5 is the handles. While the handles are good for their shape and size, I would prefer a slightly better quality material. But over all these knives are very nice and I would highly recommend them.

I am disappointed in Customer Service because I sent a message to them via their website when the tip of my paring knife broke off while I was chopping a bulb of garlic. In my mind, it doesn't matter how good the knives perform if they break in use.

The blades on these are both chipped. They cut somewhat well, but for the price the quality is lacking. I would not buy from this brand again.

The knives are beautiful, for sure. That said, the sharpness didn't last very long and when I dropped the larger one yesterday, it broke into two pieces. It lasted 17 months. I will not be purchasing it again.

These knives are very, very sharp do be careful when using!!! They are classy and elegant enough to leave out in kitchen! A great set of knives. I will up my review to 5 stars after a few months if they stay as sharp as they are now.

These knives are excellent. They are very sharp and take little to no effort to cut through food. It is amazing how thin of a slice you can cut with these knives. Literally paper thin slices if you want! Both knives come with a sheath for protection of the knife blade and for your protection. You would not want to accidentally come in contact with skin with these super sharp knives. The handles have a great feel and are easy to grip. I love the black blades on my set and think they are the most beautiful knives I have ever owned. The documentation says you can use them on any food except food with hard pits, such as peaches. nor would you want to use them on bones. Being ceramic hard objects could damage/nick the blade. But for slicing and dicing, you cannot go wrong. They are razor sharp and are amazing at slicing! I would purchase these again and would recommend them to a friend!!
