Pilot Ballpoint Pen S20, Dark Brown (BPPS-2SK-DBN)

The Pilot S20 is a classy workhorse ballpoint pen. It uses the excellent (affordable and ubiquitous) Dr. Grip Center of Gravity Refill (which can be found in either blue or black). The wood body of the pen is comfortable, durable, and unique. There's very little "jiggle" in the pen tip (which is a huge plus, since so many pens possess that annoying rattle). You could reasonably use the pen for everything from board meetings to grading homework.

My husband LOVES this pen. He loves the color, the feel, and how fluid it writes. So much so, that we bought another one in the other color. It was very nice as well. Plan on buying more as gifts! No issues with shipping. It arrived timely and nicely packaged.

I've just received the pen and this are my first impressions. Most of the pen is made of wood and looks nice, but some parts, such as the clip and the tip, are made out of plastic or it looks like it's plastic. It would have been much better to make those parts of metal instead. The plastic looks cheap and won't last long. Inside the pencil, the screw thread is made from metal and from plastic. The filling is also Pilot, the ink is smooth and writes well but not as well as QuinkFlow or Schmidt. Though sometimes it produces some small stains, specially when you start to write (but not as bad as schmidts). It works but it doesn't feel premium, just a medium quality pen.

Loved the matching pencil so much I bought the pen to go with it. Definitely a beautiful matching set. Highly recommended.

Love this pen. It feels good in the hand, writes super smooth, the Dark Brown color looks great. I found the S30 pencil set while in Japan, and then added the Pen, S20 is a perfect match. So happy to find them on Amazon in the states now too. I decided to get an extra pen, so I can have them available where needed.

For some strange reason, this pen, which has a somewhat unusual shape (shared only by the Papermate inkjoy 700) has - for my grip - the perfect shape. it starts out narrow, widening slightly to match the taper of my three-finger grip, to narrow again where the back of the pen rests in the crotch of the thumb and finger. I dont want to use terms like perfect balance, ideally weighted and other adjectives that I don't know the meaning of. What I can say is that I think that a good pen consists of the ink carrier that lays down the ink, and the container that you hold in your hand, and this pen is an excellent combination of an ideally shaped carrier coupled to an excellent ink-delivery system. Further, pens are personal and what I like may not be what you like. However, if the Papermate Inkjoy 700 works for you (not the other models, specifically the 700), you will love this pen. As well, the unusual color, the wood body, understated finish - no chrome on the metal nor shiny polish on the wood, both have a matte finish - are very nice and, add a touch of uniqueness. I like it.

The pen is nice to have for corrections.

Another New York Times pick for best pen ( sigh ) . And it's ok really , but nothing to write home about. The UniBall Jetstream is better, and you get 12 in a box for the price of one Pilot S20 .
