That basically translates into it being heavier and not as pretty to look at as their higher tier parts. I installed this on my 'utility / commuter bike', for which aesthetics and (low) weight are not high up on my list of priorities. What is important to me is performance and durability, which this part will certainly give you. There are various speciality tools that will work for installation. I used a chain whip and cassette lockring remover, which are also nice tools to have on hand if you ever need to replace a broken spoke. Shimano is known for delivering very good performance throughout their range of parts, even on the low end. So while this cassette may not win awards for it's use of exotic materials, light weight, or 'bling factor', it will help you achieve positive and crisp shifting at a low price point and is likewise built for durability. To me, that makes it a winner.Great for:commuter bikes (riding to work, ect)utility bikes (picking up groceries, running errands, getting around town)casual (pleasure) riding, or riding for fitness.Not recommended for:racing or competitive riding (triathlons, duathlons, time trials, road racing)'blinging' out your ride ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Mid level cassette for climbers! Or maybe perfect for 1x where there aren't any big hills *by on Reviewed in the United States October 22, 2017* This is not the lightest 8 speed cassette available, 312g on my scales isn't bad, same as the pilshed version of the HG-41. The 11-32 that I bought, gives me a smooth transition from 28 to 32 when I need that extra bit on a steep climb with my gravel bike. The MegaRange style 11-34 leaves too much of a change from the 26t -34t climbing gear. If a 32 rear cog wasn't low enough for me, I'd rather change the front chainring to something smaller than to have that much "gap." This cassette works with the 8,9,10 speed hubs... But the 11t sprocket isn't attached, so you could actually use this set with an older 7 speed hub, and make it a 7 speed 13-32. You would need a thin spacer, but as a temporary hack until you get the replacement hub body, it would work, though Shimano would never recommend it. As many have said before, it's a good utility cassette. Perfect for hybrid/gravel/maybe a replacement for a road bike cassette, and light to medium duty mountain bikes. In a harsh MTB application, I'd want the cogs mounted to a carrier to protect my hub body and strengthen the cassette. Cassette Cogs: 11,13,15,18,21,24,28,32 so the gaps aren't too bad. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works as good as it looks! *by on Reviewed in the United States September 30, 2024* I put this in my bike a few miles back and it has been just great overall id highly recomend this cassette if it fits your needs.when I bought a new rear wheel is had to find a cassette for it and I came across this 1 through some research online and to my suprise it was exactly the same as the set on my specialized roll sport!
