Dr. Woods Pure Tea Tree Liquid Castile Soap - 32 Fl Oz

This castile soap by Dr. Woods is excellent. I have been using castile soap for over ten years, and Dr Woods is always the brand that I use. If you like Dr Bonner's castile soap, then you will definitely love the Dr Woods brand soap. I have tried nearly every version of the castile soap that Dr Woods produces, and they are all equally great. Furthermore, the price difference between Dr Woods soap, and any of their other competitors, is very significant. Every year I purchase at least several gallons worth of the Dr Woods 32 ounce castile soap bottles. Probably around four or five gallons worth, each year. This soap is very gentle, yet very cleansing -- and completely natural. And each of the different versions of their castile soap smell excellent on top of that. I frequently smell them in my hand, before I add water, because I love how they smell -- it's like aromatherapy. And I use their shea butter castile soap as my shampoo. I recommend all of their different versions, including their black soap, which I frequently use as shampoo for my hair. One thing to keep in mind, is that the shea butter versions of their soap, does not smell quite as strong as their non-shea buttter versions do. That's probably due to the extra shea butter ingredient included in the shea butter soap. If you want the strongest smelling version of their soaps, stick with the non-shea butter versions. But either way, ALL of their castile soaps smell great. Furthermore, this soap is produced right here in the USA, and Dr Woods is a family owned company that produces it, so I enjoy giving my business to great hardworking American family owned companies. If you're looking for great castile soap that smells great, and leaves your skin feeling moisturized, and you want to obtain it at the best and fairest possible price, then you definitely would do well to begin using the Dr. Woods brand castile soap.

I prefer Dr. Woods Castile Soap over Dr. Bronner's. It's thicker, and leaves my skin feeling moisturized, and my hair feeling soft. I use this soap for everything! Not only to wash my body and hair, but to wash dishes, and even laundry, on occasion. I also add some of the soap to a spray bottle with water, and use it on my counters. I only use the tea tree and almond. The almond one smells somewhat similar to cherry scented car freshener. The tea tree smells like...tea tree, lol, which can be off-putting when you're starting out, but I've used tea tree oil products for many years, so it doesn't bother me. If you find that you can't get past the smell of tea tree, try one of the other scents before giving up. Really great products.

I love it. This is my first time ordering this particular soap, and I am pleased with the results. I've been skeptical about cleaning anything outside of my skin with it, but I tried it out. I washed two large loads of clothes with it and they came out great. What sold me on this completely is a shirt that had a stain in it that set in and I didn't wash until weeks after the fact. The stain came right out as if I stained it one moment prior and then reached for this soap and some water to get it out. I also washed dishes and washed my hair once with it. I am a black woman with relaxed hair, BUT I stretch my relaxers and purposefully waited until there was a noticeable amount of new growth before using this just to see if it would really clean my scalp and hair. It did. The only problem is that although I'm "relaxed", my hair is thick and it takes waaaaaayyyyyyy more soap than I'm comfortable pouring out just to wash my hair one time, so I think I will try the bar soaps on my hair to conserve the product. I must also note that I have VERY sensitive skin, and I was able to wash any and every crevice without irritation. My skin is smooth after use, but because I do indeed have exceptionally dry skin, I must seal in and add moisture immediately to keep that feeling. I first tried this in peppermint, and I bought that for a second time along with trying this one and I am very happy with these purchases. I will be ordering them again, and I might need to consider the gallon jugs because I can go though this sized bottle in almost no time.

I've been using Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree Castile soap as a body soap and shampoo for several years. While I love that product, it hits the wallet a bit harder than I'd like, and was seeking an alternative, which was how I discovered Dr. Woods. As others may be looking at this product as a value proposition against Bronner's product, this review attempts to contrast the two. The most obvious difference in the two products is that Dr. Woods is not nearly as concentrated as Bronner's. This becomes apparent when trying to get a good lather, which requires a lot more product and effort. The product also seems more "glyceriny" than Bronner. If you've used pure glycerin soap, then you might know the smell and the filmy feeling it can leave behind. Bronner's has it too, but it's not as obvious, and that feeling is overpowered by the "tingly" feeling Bronner's seems to have, which was not nearly as pronounced with this product. Additionally, the Dr. Woods product seems to have a higher ratio of hemp oil, at least as far as my nose was concerned, which may or may not bother you. On the plus side (cost aside), the Dr. Woods product works far better in a hand-pump, which is may prove to be my best use for this soap moving forward. In summary, while I liked Dr. Woods soap, and may try it again down the road, it fell a bit short of Dr. Bronner's product for me in terms of overall quality. Most notably, however, the extra effort and product required to get a good lather is the deal breaker for me. However, had I not ever tried Dr. Bronner's soap, this review would probably be 5 stars. If you're looking for an alternative and the subjective nit-picky things I mentioned above aren't deal-breakers for you, then it's probably worth a shot. Personally, I will keep an eye on this product; perhaps they will tweak a few things down the road, or offer a more concentrated product, in which case I will definitely give it another chance.

Hard to find product and it came quickly

Selecting the Dr. Woods Castile Soap Variety that is best for you can seem a daunting task with so many options, and indeed, with so many similar options. I have ordered a sample of most of the varieties, so can offer some assistance. Let's start with some not-so-obvious helpful observations: * The "Tea Tree Oil" Variety as offered in the "NATURALS" Product Line is dramatically thinner in consistency (thinner in its viscosity) when compared to the Regular (Not "NATURALS") product line of Tea Tree Oil Soap, which is much thicker. In fact, the "NATURALS" variation on the Tea Tree Soap is so extremely thin and watery, it pours very much like water. If you want a Tea Tree Soap that is thicker (like one would expect when ordering liquid soap), then be sure to go with the Dr. Wood Regular Product Line, and not the "Naturals" Product Line which in spite of costing slightly more, is actually very disappointing. This is also true of the Dr., Woods "Citrus" variety of "Naturals"... it is also very watery and super-thin. * Do not assume that this difference is the case across the entire catalog of Dr. Woods Varieties... it is not. The "Naturals" variation is just as thick as the "Regular" Variation for the other varieties: Peppermint, Black Soap, Etc. In these cases, there is no discernible difference between the "Regular" and the "Naturals" varieties when it comes to thickness (viscosity) of the liquid soap. I know... that is confusing... even infuriating... illogical... and literally "inconsistent", but I'm telling you, it is true... just so you know. * There is almost no discernible difference in the look, feel, thickness, or smell, of the "WITH Shea Butter" varieties when compared to the "WITHOUT Shea Butter" varieties. This is true across all the different types of Dr. Woods Liquid Soaps. This leads me to believe that there must be very little "Shea Butter" in any of the "WITH Shea Butter" varieties. The purpose of Shea Butter is to make the soap more moisturizing. This begs the question, "Why offer almost every variety WITH and WITHOUT Shea Butter?" The answer, I believe, is two-fold: First, some people are allergic to nuts, and Shea Butter is essentially a nut oil, so those with nut allergies are advised to avoid it. Second, adding Shea Butter to a liquid soap decreases its life span, because natural Shea Butter Oil... which does not smell great to begin with, degrades considerably after a year or two, and can begin to foul the liquid soap if it is stored long-tern prior to being used. For this reason alone, I would say, chose the varieties WITHOUT Shea Butter, unless you have a strong personal love for Shea Butter, and plan to use the soap within a year or so. * Regarding the smell of the many varieties, I will say this: All of them smell acceptable. None of them small particularly bad to me. The Tea Tree Oil - their #1 seller due to its wonderful natural antibacterial properties - probably smells the least pleasant... but it is truly not that bad at all, and the smell is not too strong. The "Black Soap" is the variety that smells the most like conventional soap. The Peppermint... which you might assume would smell the best... actually does not have a very strong smell. It has a slightly minty smell which is somewhat pleasant, but not that bold. The Citrus has a nice orange-lemon-citrus type of smell, but again, fairly mild. Personally, I believe the variety that has both the strongest smell and the most pleasant smell, is the Almond Oil. The Almond variety has a very SWEET candy-like smell which I love. And again, to clarify: whether you choose "Naturals" or "Regular" or whether you choose "With Shea Butter" or "Without Shea Butter"... these decisions do not effect the smell very much. As detailed above, however, the "Naturals" variety of Tea Tree Oil and Citrus are extremely thin and watery, so I recommend avoiding "Naturals" in just those two varieties. Now, I'm going to tell you my little secret: I suspect a lot of people are like me, and they want the natural antibacterial benefits of a Tea Tree Oil soap, but would prefer that it have the sweet and pleasant Christmas-candy-like smell of the Almond Oil soap. I achieve this effect by mixing Two (2) to Three (3) parts Dr. Woods Tee Tree Oil Soap with one (1) part Dr. Woods Almond Oil Soap. The almond oil smell is so much stronger that even diluted, it definitely becomes the dominant smell, and the result is a great-smelling liquid soap with natural antibacterial properties. You can also try mixing Peppermint or Citrus with the Tea Tree Oil, if for some reason you are among the minority of people who don't like the Almond Oil smell... but I find it works best with the Tea Tree and Almond Oil mixture. I use the "Regular" (not "Naturals") variety, and I use the NO Shea Butter (not with Shea Butter) variety... though this mixing effect also works well with the Shea Butter varieties if you prefer them. OK... I know that's a lot of information I just gave you, but that is as simple as I can make it, and I think if you try my 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 mix of mostly Tea Tree Oil Soap with some Almond Oil Soap,the result will be very pleasing for you. I recently purchased this tea tree oil soap from Amazon and I am absolutely in love with it! The soap has a refreshing and invigorating scent, which makes it perfect for a morning shower or after a workout. The tea tree oil not only leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, but it also helps to soothe any minor skin irritations I may have. I appreciate that this soap is made with natural ingredients and is gentle enough to use on my sensitive skin. It lathers well and rinses off easily, leaving no residue behind. Overall, I highly recommend this tea tree oil soap to anyone looking for a refreshing and effective body wash.

Feel very clean. Love the smell. Not a good shampoo hair with length though.

It's hard to lather with a wash cloth but this stuff is great! When I get in the shower I use it as shampoo, face and body wash. For those who hate the smell of tea tree oil you may want to avoid this because it's strong. Also if you use this as shampoo you will have to use conditioner right away as it will leave your hair dry. My body didn't feel dry after using it but that could be because I use heavy creams currently as it's winter. Not sure if you are to dilute it but I will buy it again as it cuts down on waste for it's multiple uses!
