Super Easy To Use, And So Many Customizing Options!
My 13-year old's review: "A great game, super fun and not to hard. Here is a rundown on all of the major parts; Character Generator: I really enjoy making my own characters using this. Basically, it's a dress up game. Choose your face, hair, eyes, clothes, color, etc.; you can make really cool anime style people super easily. It even has a random generator, where they make a random character for you. I guess my only issue with it is the color choices. They include a bunch of shades of blue and red, but they have no dark brown. So I was a little disappointed when I was trying to make my charter and had to change his hair color to light brown. Also, you can only have 120 saves, and since that includes NPCs, I was upset by that. Other then that, though, it's pretty cool. Map Making: Overall, they did pretty good with the whole map making part. You can choose from lots of tile-sets to make the map, and they include shadows if you are making a house. It's pretty easy and fun, I can't think of anything they messed up on for maps. Events: Now, this is pretty much the base of the whole game. Event making is basically everything that happens. NPC talking, starting battles, and pretty much everything starts with an event. The way they set it up makes it all pretty easy, though. All you do is choose they type of event you want to make. Way easier then codding xD. Battles: There are two types of battles to choose from. You can either make side view or first person battles. You also can customize from a very large selection of monsters by changing the color, and adding types, weakness, critical hit probability, etc. You can even add different weapons for your players. Database: To be fair, most of everything I have mentioned has to do with the database. All of your game information is stored here, after all. But what I'm talking about is character profiles and title screens, plus game music. It's pretty amazing because they let you have (Japanese) voice tracks for every main character. This allows them to talk during battle. You can customize it by changing the pitch. You can also add a description for your main characters. You can make items, although they have a limited supply of icons. Making title screens is pretty fun and easy. You can add music to that, and battles, and they music is all pretty awesome. Overall, if you want to make really fun RPG games, this is a great buy!"

A very accessible toolkit first, a game second.
A quick review for those completely new to this title. RPG Maker Mv is toolkit where a beginner can create a "modern" SNES style turn-based RPG with no coding experience necessary or even warranted to create a very playable project. These can then be played solo at home or upload for others across the PlayStation Network to enjoy without them even needing a copy of this game. What you don't get is a lot of hand holding or even a manual. There is a 30 minute tutorial that covers the absolute basics that can be played once and then you are left on your own to get your hands dirty. There is no demo game included for you to tinker with, but the menus and icons will make sense almost immediately. Even with the barest of knowledge, in a matter of a few hours I had a created a 2 floor home for my Hero, a town with one NPC, a dog that barked at me and a cave full of attacking slimes! Proof that even an old duffer like me was able to create something with nothing more than a passion for the genre. My few suggestions would be: Don't tackle your 40 hour dream game first, focus on a small project that can be played in an hour of two. While you wait for the game to show up, do some research. By far, the best tutorial videos were posted by user "SRDude" you know what site to look on. Short, sweet, no added nonsense. Turn the tooltips to real-time. Don't sleep on the free Starter Pack DLC on the PlayStation Store, it will add some nice bonus materials to the database. When you boot up the game, make sure to at least click on the Forum icon to get your daily bonus. I can confirm the game support of USB keyboard for faster text entry too. You may want to invest in a USB cord to use an extender if you are playing from the couch, fyi. The potential here is incredible. Even with just using the stock spells, monsters and items you'll be in custom rpg bliss. For those of you who are dedicated to customizing every spell, attribute and weapon, you'll be in creative heaven!

Meant for PC not console
This is something that should stay on PC. My ps4 locked up during the tutorial and I had to delete the game and reinstall it to get back to the tutorial which didn't help as much as I thought it should have. Sending the game back asap

A lot of free time needed!
The graphics are pretty good, a lot of nice DLC tools and characters, but it takes a lot... and I mean A LOT OF time to make something that works well. 5 hours of work = about 2 min of gameplay. Great game, but if you don't have a lot of free time, it's probably not for you.

Better on PC
Too complicated and tedious for console.

Do NOT buy PS4 version
This game is an outdated broken mess. It is basically a bad MV/MZ hybrid that works well if you have NO plans on uploading a creation. Spent 20 or so hours making a project just to find out I get the common generic "upload failed" error. Do NOT buy the PS4 version.
