“ The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence may just go down in history as a game-changer when it comes to leading women out of weight loss hell.” — Cheryl Richardson, New York Times best-selling author of The Art of Extreme Self-Care Placing conditions on our lives and our happiness has become the norm. We see it all the time: We must establish a career before looking for a relationship. We must find love before feeling fulfilled. We must feel stressed out until we finish everything on our to-do list. But by far, the most common conditions we put on ourselves revolve around our weight—no love until we lose the weight, no pursuing a dream until we lose the weight, no happiness until we lose the weight. But now there’s a better option. Using tapping, also known as EFT, Jessica Ortner walks you through a process that helps you drop stress so you can drop pounds—without dieting, deprivation, or extreme exercise. Tapping, a tool that is based on the principles of both ancient acupressure and modern psychology, helps you address the underlying issues that make your body hold on to weight and gives you the ability to overcome some of the most common weight loss obstacles. Say good-bye to the cravings, panic, and self-doubt that keep you in a constant fight against your body! Using her own struggles with weight loss, along with success stories of some of the thousands of women she’s worked with, Jessica teaches you not only the basics of tapping but also how to use it to address the deeper facets of your weight and self-worth challenges. This proven process is based on extensive research into the effects of tapping on stress hormones, and it provides simple, step-by-step instructions throughout and easy tapping meditations at the end of each chapter. With this loving and supportive guidance you can learn to create a more empowering relationship with food, find pleasure in exercise, and implement self-care into your life. So join Jessica and learn to love yourself and your body!

Finally! A Book that Meets Me Where I Am, and Gets Me Where I Need to Go
I am so excited about this book! I feel, at last, there are not only answers, but solutions to the lifelong questions so many of us have faced with our weight and the negative image we hold of ourselves as a result of our weight. Jessica Ortner has written a book that not only speaks to the emotional and historical roots of our struggles with “weight loss and body confidence”, but provides us with a pathway out of the shame and guilt so many of us feel in the face of all our past failures. I, for one, have started every new year for as long as I can remember with the pledge that this would be the year I'd get control over my weight. Almost more than any other, the issue of weight and how I feel about myself as a result of my weight has consumed me for the better part of my adult life. I feel I’m something of an expert on what doesn't work, and I know I am not alone in this. Then, along came Jessica Ortner. Looking at a picture of Jessica today, it's difficult to imagine how she could possibly understand the weight loss journey I've been on, the mountains, the valleys, the emotional pain. Yet, this book resonated with me immediately at a very deep level. Jessica says that we have been approaching the problem from the wrong direction. We believe that before we can even think about being happy, or successful, we must lose the weight. Jessica sees that if we learn to treat ourselves with compassion, if we find the beauty that is at our core, if we become happy and accepting of who we are…in this very moment… the weight will begin to fall off as a natural side effect of that happiness and peace of mind. Why does Jessica believe this? She believes it because she has lived it, and she, along with thousands of her clients, provides living, breathing evidence of its truth.Jessica’s voice comes right off the page…comforting, understanding and non-judgmental. She has such compassion for what we have been through and what we are going through. And yet, she comes at us with an honesty that is what we so need. She creates a safe space in which we can hear the tough stuff, yet feel cared for at the same time. Her goal is to teach us how to provide ourselves with extreme self-care and freedom from judgment. How can we do that, you ask, when we can’t even look at ourselves in a mirror? This, my friend, is the best part!Throughout her book, Jessica leads us on a journey to discover those things that are at the core of our weight loss and body confidence issues. She teaches us how we can use an amazing tool, tapping, to easily and quickly identify and process the things from our past and the limiting beliefs we hold about ourselves that keep us stuck and prevent us from moving forward. Tapping can reach those places where our pain, our loneliness, our feelings of inadequacy, are held at a subconscious level. If you are familiar with tapping, you'll be happy to know that Jessica provides guidance on what ideas to tap on as you work to release the "pain beneath the weight". If you are unfamiliar with tapping, you are about to make an amazing discovery. A new door is about to open for you.I think there is a part of each of us that knows the weight we carry is not about the food. There is a whole lot more going on than the idea that "I just like to eat!" We have been using food as a way to comfort ourselves for years, but that comes at a huge cost to our health and our self esteem. This book is about to radically change the way we look at this whole complex issue. How lucky for you that you have found it.

The Title Doesn't Tell the Whole Story
This book is what everyone else says...warm, inviting, like talking with a friend. Jessica Ortner has been there and done that and was able to get a smaller sized t-shirt from the journey. So she understands. In her book, Jessica addresses what extra weight is really about and gives the reader actionable (and easily doable) steps to effect healing within themselves and to make the shifts that they desire in their bodies, energy and lives.Tapping is easy. You can do it anyway and Jessica shows, in this book, how easy it is to make those changes that you have previously struggled with. While Jessica didn't 'invent' tapping, she brings the practice to readers in such a comfortable, safe way that they feel supported as they work through the book. But this book's story is much bigger than tapping or weight loss. It is about confidence. As a matter of transparency, I am the illustrator for this book. My first published illustrations. I am so excited and the reason that I was able to share my art with the world was because of this practice and the way Jessica teaches this process. She helps women to find their inner strength, to be willing to step up in life and say "I am enough". Upon reading this book and doing the tapping, the first thing that the reader will find is PEACE. Stress starts to melt away. For me, quickly. The anxiety lessens throughout the process of tapping. This feeling of calm is worth the price of the book, even if there weren't any other results. But there are many more. After years of trying to give up diet soda, I just stopped because of this process. I didn't try. I just didn't want it anymore! That was huge for me, as I knew I was poisoning myself with the chemicals in the drinks. In addition, I find that my whole attitude towards food has changed. It has matured. When I used to (yes USED TO) diet, I felt restricted, which I am not a big fan of, and that I was being punished by what I couldn't have. Now I understand that food isn't about just comfort or enjoyment, which was its function in my life before Jessica's work. Sure, it can be enjoyed and should be. Now I know that my body has its needs beyond my taste buds and that was a WOW moment for me. I intellectually knew that before but now I get it.I could say so much more about this book but will close with this. While the weight loss is great, the best thing readers will get from this book is what they will gain...a new level of peace and appreciation for who they are. That is a gift that we not only give to ourselves but to the world around us. Jessica is a great model of self acceptance not because she is perfect but because she is perfectly, beautifully human and so openly shares her experiences with the reader of this book.A life changing book.

Not Another Diet Book - The Solution to the Problem
So many people think that they would be happy if they could just lose weight or look differently. What if that is completely backward? What if the weight is not the source of our unhappiness, but is actually the result of our hidden feelings and beliefs? This is the premise of Jessica Ortner's new book, "The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence". Weight loss has become big business and a national obsession, as two thirds of Americans are overweight and one third are considered obese. If you have tried all of the diets and programs (you probably have or you wouldn't be here), this is the missing component that other programs need.Another diet is not the answer. Losing weight is not rocket science. There is not a heavy person in the world that doesn't know that broccoli is good for you and donuts are bad. The reason most diet books don't work is because they focus on weight or food, but never address the root cause of why you are eating too much. The real heart of this book and process is not about food. It is about loving yourself and feeling good about your body.I really enjoyed Jessica's writing style. It is like a personal conversation with a friend. I think everyone can relate to her openness and honesty. As she states, "I could no longer use my weight as an excuse not to be happy or go for what I wanted in life. I began to look at my relationship with my body, food, and exercise as well as sexual intimacy, pleasure, and perfection, and I realized that I wasn't broken. I just had layers of beliefs that made life feel unbearable if I couldn't turn to food for comfort." In the end, it is a feel good book about embracing life and feeling good about yourself. This is not a book to just read. It is crucial that you do the tapping. Without the tapping, this process may show you why you have struggled with weight, but it will not give you the long term weight loss and confidence that you will get with the tapping. The tapping meditations at the end of the chapters are excellent. If you are turned off by "touchy-feely" programs, you may be tempted to skip this book. There is a lot of science around EFT tapping, and I have been using it successfully with clients for years. The ideas and principles are really about your subconscious feelings and how they drive your eating. You are feeding your feelings and not your body. They can apply to anyone no matter what your beliefs are (yes, that does include men).I highly recommend this book to everyone who has struggled with their eating. An obsession with food is like any obsessive relationship. It is about getting and not giving. What is missing from your life? What are you trying to get from food? This book will guide you to freedom.Bill Cashell - Author of "The Emotional Diet"

I like a lot of the scripts
I really followed the plan for a good while until I was almost done with the book. I did the exercises in the right order. Some of them hit home for me and helped me to release some old and negative energy. Others, not so much. But that's okay. I used to go on YouTube and look at a lot of Brad Yates' videos. Some of them didn't hit home for me but when they did, oh boy! I have cried tears that I didn't even know I had bottled up inside and I have released old energy that I didn't even know was trapped in me using using tapping techniques. Using other people's scripts have even helped me to create some new scripts of my own. In fact, one of my fondest memories related to EFT is when I first started using EFT and I was having difficulty with a boss who seemed bent on victimizing me and putting me in my place/dulling my shine. I now see that I never could have attracted myself into a situation like that if I hadn't seen myself as so worthless and undeserving of good. I expected to suffer and I got plenty of it. But I used a tapping script around a very painful time that I was having with my boss and his boss, a woman that I came to regard as very hard spirited, entitled and unkind. They were coming down really hard on me and dumping a lot of work on me and I was so terrified and so afraid and so sad and so heartbroken. I felt so victimized because I knew that I was a great employee. I worked as a software technical writer and my work was so good that I was touted as having turned around documentation at my company. When there was downsizing at my company and most of the writers on my team either left or were let go and not rehired, a group of programmers even stood up for me because they didn't want to see the quality of the documentation that I was producing go down. They begged the executive team to get me some help. They didn't. But it is unheard of for programmers to stand up for a technical writer like that. So I knew that I was a good employee but I wasn't so good at managing my personal life and attracting myself into situations where I was being respected and valued. I had a great writing style and was gifted at writing for both technical and non-technical audiences. I was beyond dedicated. I would stay in that place writing until 9 p.m. at night almost every night. Plus I was a team lead, getting team lead pay but had the responsibilities of a documentation manager. I managed three teams in three states and wrote full-time myself and handled everything from their reviews, their timesheets, project management you name it. I lived like a total victim! I was begging for approval! I had no personal life! But at the time , I couldn't see it and couldn't figure out why this abuse was happening to somebody like me who devoted my whole life to this company. So I started tapping about something fairly benign -a pending meeting that I had with my boss and his boss that had me worried. These bozos actually wanted me to start producing reports to show how my team and I spent our time when I was working like a fool, was the only writer left standing for my product line, was ridiculously understaffed and couldn't have worked harder if I had moved into the place, when my productivity was at an all-time high, and when I was straining myself to the point of sickness to do the job of two or three people ! All of a sudden these tears related to beliefs that I had adopted about myself in childhood came flooding up and out of me. I cried so hard that I was literally shaking. I've never cried that hard before in my life except when my father died. Right after I released all that pain, those folks didn't change but I did. They got off my back because I carried a different energy. It wasn't a mean or defensive energy but something had changed in me. And some of the additional workload that they had planned to dump on me never happened. For some reason, every time they got ready to try, there was something that came up to delay it. I can't explain it but something shifted and it felt spiritual in nature. Then shortly after that, I found a new job and walked out on my own terms.Back to the review. So I thought this was a good one to add to my arsenal. Maybe I didn't find it as poignant and is impactful as I had hoped. Maybe my hopes were just a little bit too high or maybe I've just gotten to a point where I find my own scripts to be more useful. But that doesn't mean that it's a bad book. I'm glad that I got it and I love that this author put her whole heart into it. I think it would be really profound for somebody new to tapping. I respect her work and this is definitely a keeper!

Not just a weight-loss book--practical, specific, and incredibly useful
The information in this book is nothing less than groundbreaking. Yes, I was initially drawn to it because I need to lose weight, but the real jewel here is the body confidence aspect mentioned in the title.Ms. Ortner shows that attaining and maintaining a healthy weight—which is an *individual* measure for everyone!—is so much more than just calories in and calories burned. Other factors, such as stress and lack of sleep, old unquestioned beliefs and mental scripts, and reasons for emotional eating also cause us to gain or hold on to physical weight. She also addresses why certain foods (sugar and refined carbohydrates) are truly addicting and how they wreak havoc with our brain chemistry, thus affecting our moods. This book, starting with EFT (tapping) shows how to successfully break the cycle by getting to the root of the problem. When you love yourself—and so many of us were either trained out of that or never learned self-love in the first place—you naturally and automatically make choices out of a healthy love for yourself and regard for your body. Because we take care of what we love. When we love ourselves, self-care becomes a necessity and a right. And when you’re confident and secure in your body, you no longer have a need to hide behind excess pounds.Eating well, exercise, and rest are things I’ve started to gravitate to because they make me feel so much better. The tapping component brings the reasons for the overwhelming emotions to the surface so we can deal with them instead of self-medicating ourselves with the chemicals in processed carbs. This book is well-written, succinct, and absolutely packed with content. If you’re a woman who is working on feeling at home in her body (even if you’re not struggling with weight issues), I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Not Just About Weight
I would recommend this book to any female out there. If you are happy with your weight or not, this book is about so much more. Written in an easy to follow and relatable style, it guides you through tapping and the science behind it and then walks you through how to use tapping for yourself in relation to multiple aspects to your emotions, stress, cravings, beliefs, past events, and more.Anything that could be holding you back, not just from getting to your ideal weight, but from fully living your life, can be helped with tapping. I suggest keeping a notebook with you as you read the book because things are going to come up, whether you have aha moments, whether you read something and it strikes a nerve or maybe you just resist the whole thing. Write it down! Those are all clues to help you use what this book teaches you. The same happens as you work with tapping.Jessica Ortner is very relatable and through her own story and stories of those she has worked with, she presents a new way to look at weight, at body confidence and at life. This book breaks it all down in a way that you can easily follow it at your own pace. If there is an area you need to work on more than others, you can take the time and work on it or you can always come back to it. This is not just a great book to read now but this is one to keep on your shelf to go back to anytime you start to feel like you aren't your best. This book can help you learn to truly like yourself and to let yourself shine. It goes through many layers of the emotions behind weight but also talks about exercise and food in a new way. It doesn't just say, eat this and don't eat that or do this workout at least 6 times per week. This is about creating a new lifestyle for yourself and a new way of looking at everything.

Full of inspiration, motivation, and information
Ok. I’ll admit it. It was hard for me to read this book. It was even harder for me to like it. You see, I recently wrote and published a book on tapping and weight loss too. I was feeling pretty defensive and believed that the release of this book would have a negative impact on my book. So what did I do? I started tapping. That’s really the whole point of both Jessica’s book and my book. Start tapping.Once I had tapped enough to feel comfortable that there is room enough in this world for two books on tapping and weight loss, I dove in. You might even say that I devoured it. It is written in the same charismatic style that all of the materials from The Tapping Solution possess. It would be hard to resist smiling at the all-too-honest accounts of self doubt, overindulgence (food and guilt), and insecurity that Jessica shares. I could relate. The tapping examples were fantastic, although I would have preferred a few more. The book design and page layout are enviable. The quotes were inspirational and the stories of real women and their struggles were motivational. If there are any negatives (and I am not sure that there are) one would be the title. There are so many words on the cover that it was difficult to know what the title really was without turning to the copyright page. Also, the topic of self-sabotage or psychological reversal was not highlighted as much as I might have expected given the type of challenge being addressed. Will I read it again? Yes. Will I recommend it to others? Absolutely. The book is attractive, informative, inspirational, and potentially life-changing.

Kindle edition problem
I hope I can update this review later! Reading the Kindle version. It's an awesome read and I am very intrigued. I think the book is written very well and I can't stop reading... until I get stuck on an obviously missing section. That is more than annoying! Fix the electronic version before you charge money it! It's like a stupid cliffhanger in a great series :-(.

I thought the book hit bang on and was very good. I have still not started melting the pounds but feel happier and relieved after doing the exercises. I recommend this book very highly.

The Tapping Solution for weight loss and Body Confidnece
This is the book I have been waiting for to hit the market. The concept to love yourself as you are right now no matter what size you are resonates so deeply with me and I know if will for other people. Anyone who has been on and off the diet wheel will breath a sigh of relief that they don't have to count calories but they will learn how to count on themselves and this is empowering. The tapping is so simple and user friendly and Jessica is so down to earth and refreshingly honest with her journey that she speaks for so many of us. You will laugh and nod your head as you read other peoples stories. Tapping is for so many things other than just letting go of weight so this book is very special as you are given the tool to change your life. In the book Jessica has some tapping scripts to get you started so just sit back follow along and watch the magic happen.
