Surprisingly effective !
**edit 2 week's later**So 2 things to look out for - the screw caps on the reservoirs on mine don't fit great - so they do tend to leak out slightly during the night into the base area- that might be intentional as i see no other point to the 'spring' valve that's in them ie its a valve to slowly let water out into the base area so water continues to be available to cool you down - but it doesn't say that specifically anywhere in the instructions so its a bit messy when you come to remove them the following day (but it is only water of course - just get a tea towel at the ready)! Also in hindsight it is a little bit noisier than a fan you might want to use in the bedroom - but that is of course a personal preference. Also be prepared for some 'clunking' when the ice thaws a little bit and moves around in the reservoir - its made me jump twice! Finally, and i know it would have made it less 'portable' but some way of insulating the reservoirs would have been a good idea .... /making the internal filter retain water better ? That of course would probably push the cost up though. So for what it is - it does it's job!Always looking for ways to keep me/as much of the bedroom cool on summer nights as possible. Have seen these style of personal coolers but always thought they'd be a bit rubbish to be honest, but the thought of another night not sleeping even with window open was too much ! I read reviews on this and thought i'd give it a go - for the price it wouldn't break the bank.It arrived faster than predicted - bonus! The instructions are clear - both in the booklet and the little stickers on the side - noting you should NOT freeze the reservoirs with their lids on. Easy to use - you can freeze the x2 reservoirs if you want, and you can freeze the central 'filter'. You then top up the reservoirs with cold water before installing into the unit to get optimum cooling.I must admit my expectation level was pretty low -but after freezing the aforementioned and reassembling (note the 'filter' can be a big fiddly to get back in if you don't angle it correctly) i switched it on and BRRRRRRRRR! My husband who is always too hot genuinely likened it to air-con. It really does blast out cold air. Obviously if you run it for 8 hours the coldness won't last forever, and if its really really hot - this can only do so much - but for me in the middle of a hot night i know i can set this up ready - and just to help me get back to sleep set it going to cool me down.It won't cool a room - its not designed for that - unless its a really tiny room - but it will cool you down better than a fan alone. It's not super quiet but its not shockingly loud and the lowest fan level is acceptable to sleep through for me. Many people who use fans during the night will be ok with this. The 'mood' lights are a nice touch but probably unnecessary for me.Final note - of course come the morning if you've frozen the filter as well as the reservoir tanks there is a puddle of water in the bottom of the product - so be careful picking it up that you don't slosh it around - and it instructs you dry out all pieces before re-using.For the cost and the size - i am much more impressed than i expected. Its a neat PERSONAL cooler - better than a fan alone, but its not a full-room aircon unit - don't expect it to be such.

Very good personal Cooler
I researched lots of products before I bought this one and chose this one for several reasons (mainly ease of use) and I’m pleased with it so far. It is very easy to use: 1. You have refillable ice packs with it rather than ice cubes. 2. You have a plug (and USB) adds to the ease of use. 3. It’s light and neat and sits unobtrusively on your bedside table or desk. 4. It has a long cable. It does pump out cold air, which is great. NB: As it says, it won’t cool down a room, so I still couldn’t sleep in the recent heat wave (I think you’d need to spend more money on a bigger A/C machine for that), but it was still very useful and great for the price. I wish it were slightly more powerful, but it has a long cable, so you can position it near you. All in all, I’m pleased I bought this cooler and would buy it again.

Don not tip.
When your getting your head round how this fan works you will tip it. If you have fit ed the water bottles on the side them move the fan you will have water everywhere and I mean every where. Freezing the water containers is easy and just place vertical so the water does not drain out. I then add a touch of cold water to help with the water vapour. Its is loud but I can sleep with it on. When putting the water containers in there slots they just don't fit tightly. Its hard to lock both sides in at once. So in other words its OK. Just please don't tip it.

Does what it says on the tin, I don't see any of the problems that various reviewers have raised.
After reading both positive and negative reviews for this product, I was a little worried my new air cooler would be a flop as lots of people were saying it literally had no effect.Being of a scientific nature, I was also frustrated that there were no hard facts or measurements detailing what the cooling capability was in the real world from other reviewers' comments. So day 1: no time to freeze any of the components, so I simply loaded the bottles with cold water from the kitchen tap, and soaked the filter block.Initial temperature in my small "study" was 26.2C with a Humidity of 25%.After 15 minutes with the unit switched on the readings were 21.5C and 40%.So the first thing I did this morning was to repeat the test but with the water bottles and filter left overnight in the freezer from last night.I saw a temperature of 24.3C and Humidity of 28% before starting.I then loaded the overnight frozen ice packs and filter into the device and switched it on.Within 10 minutes the figures were: 20.5C and 41% humidity.I also felt a noticeably cool breeze from the unit when placed 61cm / 2ft from me on my desk, which is the same distance I normally place my little USB powered fan.Changing the fan speed did not alter the temperature or humidity, although it did alter the distance that a cold breeze could be felt which makes sense. The bottles and filter were easy to remove and insert, and the fan is no noisier than my little USB fan, and the cooling effect is considerable. The only external water I found was from condensation on the outside panels of the water bottles, there was no leaking from the internals of the machine. The only downside is that the price jumped up by £5 (20%) the day after I ordered it, so I'm annoyed about that as I was going to buy my daughter one.
