Start with this book if you're interested in reading about crime in the life course
This is the book that gives a foundation to most studies in crime in the life course. Sampson and Laub discuss the beginnings of their research including a pretty detailed discussion on the Glueck's dataset that they use. The study follows 500 delinquent boys throughout their life into their 40's in an attempt to discover why some juvenile boys persist in their delinquent behavior while others desist. The concept of turning points is introduced in this book to help explain. The book is followed up by "Shared Beginnings, Divergent Lives: Delinquent Boys to Age 70" by the same authors and adds a follow up study conducted with the original participants who are now in their 60's and 70's.

crime in the making: pathways and turningpoints through life (S&L, 1993)
an extensive and statistically sound investigation of the correlates of crime and deviance over the entire lifecourse. Very solid, very interesting and most original.
