Awesome sharpener and doesn't break the bank
This thing works great I am finally able to get my buck pocket knife razor sharp cut the hair on your arm sharp. I don't use the provided angle guide deal I found it easier to just hold the knife at an angle that is comfortable to me. When I first got it I started with the coarse stone did 20 strokes each side of the blade then went to the medium stone and did 20 strokes each side and finally the Arkansas stone 20 times each side followed by 20 more strokes divided equally between sides one stroke one side then another the next it was pretty sharp at this point just starting to be able to shave hair. I now touch up my blade once a week on the Arkansas stone only doing the 20 strokes each side and then the 20 divided and after the last sharpening my knife was scary sharp shaved my arm clean with very little effort. I have figured out that using a good amount of pressure while running the blade across the stone does help just like the directions say to do and also don't forget to always use a lubricant I hear it helps keep the stones from getting plugged up with the metal filings.

It works like a charm.
Works fantastic for a stellar price. An object to keep for a lifetime. Sharpened all of the blades in the house. Still working on my technique which will improve after multiple sharpens. Took some dull house kitchen blades and made them almost razor sharp (Due to my inexperience) Would purchase again

Good design, loose fitment
I like the rotating design. It makes sharpening a little easier. I also like this version is assembled in the USA. I am not sure the grit progression is good. I would like a more aggressive coarse grit, but it would probably wear easy. There is a slight fitment issue. It's a little loose so when I push forward the base moves.

Works just as advertised.
Less than five minutes to get a razor edge on my chef's knife. Shave the hair off your arm sharp. Works just as advertised, and for a great price. Solid build. I anticipate this lasting for a long, long time.

works great
It simply works great. My girlfriend kept complaining about the kitchen knives being dull. I have a buddy that is an aspiring blacksmith, the took a class on professional blade sharpening. I asked his advice and he recommended this sharpener. Not expensive for what you get. I tossed the oil, just use water. Start with the course grit side, move to fine, then hone on the stone. Simple. Our knives stay sharp now.

It takes a pragmatic approach to getting a good edge on a blade
Simple all in one tool that is well designed and affordable. It takes a pragmatic approach to getting a good edge on a blade. Three steps is generally good enough. I've been able to take pretty dull blades and bring them right back with this. No need to spend more.

Great product at a good price. I purchased on sale for $72. I sharpened a bunch of knives including a ZT 0566 with Elmax blade. The diamond sides had no problem and the arkansas smoothed out the edge very nice, finished on a strop with green compound, now the ZT slices through paper effortlessly. I have one small complaint, the base could be a bit heavier. It may move slightly if not on a perfectly flat surface. Repositioning the stone on my work bench took care of that although, i can live with that no problem. Overall 5 stars.

I just received mine and was kinda hanging out to see how good it works, and I was not disappointed! Out of all my knives the one that probably has always been tricky to get an sharp edge on is the Cold Steel Ti-Lite VI Zytel, and it only took 10 minutes or so and it is razor sharp. My Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie Knife was next, now being carbon steel it was always easy to keep it sharp, it took only a few minutes and it is sharper than ever before! I showed the TRi-Hone to my brother and he quickly ask if I could do 2 of his kitchen knives, both were so blunt it would not cut anything, both took about 15 minutes each due to them being stainless steel knives, I used all 3 stones and both are razor sharp now. I am no expert but do have a good collection of knives, and I can't fault the Tri-Hone, I highly recommend it!
