Versatility 4 Your Routine!
The Marcy SB-228 weight bench is a solid choice for home workouts. It offers good stability and support, making it suitable for various exercises such as bench presses, dumbbell curls, and sit-ups. The adjustable backrest allows for different incline positions, adding versatility to your routine. Its compact design makes it easy to store, and overall, it provides good value for beginners and intermediate users looking to build strength at home. Regarding assembly, I assembled the entire bench without completely tightening any bolts. Once I finished, I tightened all the bolts except for the large center bolt that allows the backrest to pivot. Make sure you don't fully tighten the center bolt, as the backrest needs to be able to pivot freely. 04/07/26 Update: After thoroughly reading all of the instructions, this bench has a 300 lb maximum weight limit. Also, the included exercise chart with instructions only mentions and shows dumbbell illustrations. So in my opinion, this is an excellent calisthenics exercise bench.

Great Value! Feels like a $200 bench, but was only $70.
I wanted a simple bench to do home workouts. I usually splurge a bit for quality goods that last, but I knew this would only last a few short months while we're all isolated with Covid-19. So I took a chance with this cheaper bench, that had angle adjustment and leg supports/decline for ab work. I wasn't expecting much, assuming it'd be a pain to assemble, there'd be parts missing, it would feel unsturdy, it would squeak, etc. But honestly, none of that was the case. It came in a nice compact box, with approximately 8-9 main parts and all the screws/washers nicely labelled in a step-by-step fashion so you only opened the screws you needed for the steps you were in the instructions. You need two adjustable wrenches, but the allen key is included. It basically consisted of lining of parts and screwing them in. As long as you tighten the screws, the whole thing feels rock solid... almost. There's just 1 part that feels a bit flimsy, which is the seat-back support which notches into the various holds causing the backrest to be angled. The way it's designed, it wiggles around a little. However once you notch it in, the weight of the seat back (and you) make sure it's seated firmly, so it's really not a big deal. The cushion doesn't feel luxurious (it's fake leather), but it's not especially cheap either. I expect this will last quite awhile considering my moderate usage. I think you get more for what you paid for, but again, it's $70, so don't expect the rock solid quality of a several hundred dollar bench.

Good but not amazing
I like this bench but I wills say that it isn't perfect. Here's a list of the pros and cons: Pros: - I really like the ability to adjust it at an incline or decline - It's great for doing abs at a decline - It's lightweight and can be stored away - Fairly easy to put together - Good for a home gym or someone who is a beginner at working out - Good price Cons: - It isn't as sturdy as the benches at the gym, but that's what you get for the price - The foot padding will slide off sometimes - I weigh 115 lbs and the sturdiness can be a problems so I think if you are heavier, you might have a hard time doing certain exercises Overall it gets the job done for a home gym.

Great quality workout bench
This is a great quality workout bench. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my husband. Extremely easy to set up and adjust positions. Worked well with the weight bench purchased. Great product, great price. Material easy to clean.

So happy with this bench!
This bench arrived this morning (Sunday) and I was so excited I pulled out all the parts and put it together right away. The parts were individually wrapped so they didn’t have any scratches or marks on them. I *LOVED* how the small bolts, nuts, washers, and other bits were packaged and labeled by Step 1, 2, 3 and 4. This made it so easy to pull out only what I needed as I went along with the directions. They were very easy to follow, all I needed was my own wrench to tighten. The hardest part was sliding on those foam pads at the end, they were tough to slide on but that means they won’t fall off easily. Total assembly time for me was less than an hour, but that’s because I was chatting with my friend, watching football, and eating a muffin...so could have been much closer to 30 min if I focused. As for the function and stability of this bench, I say *****!! It is sturdy and very comfortable. It adjusts to FOUR positions: vertical at 90*, incline at about 45*, flat at 180*, and decline at about -45*.... this versatility - plus the leg bars to lock in your feet - make the amount of exercises you can do endless. I’m excited to get to work on this bench!

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ Average Workout Bench
The Marcy Multi‑Purpose Adjustable Workout Utility Weight Bench is decent overall, but it has some noticeable limitations. On the positive side, it was easy to put together and the padding is comfortable and supportive for most basic workouts. The materials feel solid for light to moderate use, and setup was straightforward. However, there are a few drawbacks that hold it back. The main joint does not include a bushing, which causes the seat to feel a little shaky and wobbly during use. While it’s not unsafe, the movement is noticeable and can be distracting. Another major issue is the length of the back pad. I’m 6 feet 3 inches tall, and the pad is too short to support my head and neck, which makes certain exercises uncomfortable. Overall, this bench may work well for shorter users, but I would not recommend it if you are taller than about 5 feet 10 inches. It’s an okay option for casual workouts, but taller users or those wanting a more stable bench may want to look elsewhere.

Is great for people up to 5ft 10in probably. Use a ratchet when assembling and it will be rock solid
This product is a great value. I’m am an aircraft technician so I can give some insight on the assembly process. First, this is one of those cheap Chinese manufactured products, so the potential buyer needs to realize it won’t be of high, high quality. Given that, it is good enough. Given the price point of the competitors, it is great. To assemble you need to put all bolts in finger tight, then place the bench on a level surface. Tighten all the bolts to the point that the bench sits flat on the ground. Go back and re-tighten all the bolts. Don’t be scared to tighten them down pretty tight! Use a real ratchet or a wrench. The washers will bend a little and that’s fine. After that it will be rock solid. The “aircraft nuts” this bench comes with are nylon insert type locking nuts and should prevent loosening. I’m 5 foot 10. In the incline position my head barely hangs off the bench, but it is not too uncomfortable. The padded foam leg rollers are fast to remove. This is not a professional grade bench you’d see at the gym, but it’s worlds better than the flat bench I was using. I’d steer clear if you are any taller, unless you want to use it only for flat, decline and military press. The foam is very comfortable and the bench adjusts easy. It looks very nice. The pleather, stitching and logo are done very well. The glossy black paint looks good as well. I am pleased with the purchase and would buy again.

Look no further! This is the BEST basic bench yet!
I had my dumbbells for over six months now and couldn't get a decent workout with them alone so I figured I'd search for a utility bench here on Amazon. Upon days of thorough searching and comparing brands (yes I did read their company history as well), I concluded that Marcy was the way to go. They also have a cheaper version of bench at $100 but it is the slant version (more focus on ab workout). I wanted a bench where it can go straight/flat so I can do those mean pectoral fly and chest press. This Marcy SB-228 bench offers positions for a couple of ab workouts as well. Those handles are good for doing abdominal leg raises while in decline or you can just go ahead and do abdominal crunches. Either way, this bench for me is a winner! In regards to aesthetics, don't get intimidated by the all black finish of this bench because when I opened the box myself I was blown away by how good looking it is in person. It is a little bit textured which gives a more comfortable feel and it is more of a matte black - which I think is lovely. The Marcy logo is subtle and there are white stitches on the bench which gave it a very classy and unique look. The assembly instructions were very clear plus they even packed the nuts and bolts very neatly with their corresponding steps and item numbers. I just did my first workout a while ago and it felt very sturdy. I know another bench here on Amazon by a different brand and it had several bad reviews of being rusty or breaking down after a couple of workouts. This isn't like that at all! This is not cheaply made and looks very good in our living room too since it can be folded and stored on the side. Lastly, if you want a basic full body weight bench at a fair price which ultimately delivers in aesthetics and reliability... hit that Add to Cart button now! Cheers

Still alive after 2 years.
I work out with dumbbells at home and have practically no idea how a gym is supposed to be. I needed an affordable workout bench, and I ended up getting this one on sale. It has lasted 2 years of my shenanigans, and although it has suffered in the process, it still stands strong. I couldn't tell you from an exercise scientist or gymbro perspective if this bench is good or not. But if you're looking for a cheap bench to do some basic PPL to stay in shape, and you're anything like me, you'll probably like your purchase.
